Ok, after the con I've now decided I need to read more of brian's work. I was looking in amazon, and I found Demogorgon. I haven't heard anyone mention this book before, or is it part of another series? So what's people's views on this particular book?

I've heard of it Soph but I've never personally read it, although I've always wanted to and have only heard good things about it from my fellow Lumlians.
I suggest you go for it and then you'll know one way or the other if it was a good idea ;)

I love this book ... one of Brians least talked about work. The next convention should be named DEMO-CON!!! grin.gif
But as with most of his non-Necroscope books this one is out of print in Blighty!! grrrrr .. however if you go to amazon.com you should be able to pick up a Tor edition.
Great book .. GREAT ENDING!!!

Demogorgon was the first of Brian's work that I read, I think House of Doors was the second and both were quite some time before I had even seen a Necroscope novel.
Excellent book, one that you wished you could get more of, but the way it was written is just perfect as a stand-alone. Would I like to see another? Sure, but as you are very satisfied with the way he wrote it, no need!

The fates have conspired once more and I have yet again been parted with some of my hard earned cash, oh how I'll miss it so...
In other words I've gone and snapped up a copy of DEMOGORGON for my reading pleasure, and have once again added to my growing COLLECTION. grin.gif

I managed to beg the parents to buy it off U.S amazon for me, as I don't have a credit card, the product of never having a stable 9-5 job in my entire life. But... luckily it's christmas soon grin.gif
I ended up getting: House of Doors, Demogorgon and Psychomech yey!

Mind you, it's actually a good thing so error of your ways may be the wrong terminology here

It looks like I'm a bit late with this thread, but to add my two cents (oops I seem to have gone American this week)I rate Demogorgan up there with Khai of Khem, as a superb stand alone version of Brians work.

Demo was a great book, but I personally liked House of Doors better. Since you will soon have both, give us your opinion once you blast through them!

You're right Sophie you do need to read more of Brians work. I've read a lot of his stuff and yet to find any of it less than perfect.
Right now because my girlfriend hates reading and and always falls asleep 10 minutes in, I'm reading the Titus Crow series to her. And so far she's LOVIN' it. Throw another log on the fire!

actually, we agree on quite a bit. don't you remember this quote? " He's f'n AGREEING with you man!!!" about three a.m., while we depressed the poor soldier on leave. that is one of my favorite memories of the con. i love to debate, i even at times take the opposite view of my own just to enjoy the fullness of debate. not that night, though. although we were actually in agreement, except the wwII stuff.
