So what does everybody think of Jake, the new Necroscope? Discuss.

Jake? Uhm, well, for one thing I think he's a dumbass for not going for 'what's her name?' it's been a while since I read the book. Then again, he has a lot of stuff happening to him, so he's preoccupied. His heart is in the right place though. I like his 'eye for an eye' attitude. It's also good to see the ol' Lardis back in action. I think he's my fav from Invaders. I was rather disappointed when Lardis never killed that idiot who thought the vampires were just 'friendly aliens'. I was kind of looking forward to that.

gotta go before the boss sees me on the 'net.

Faethor was and always will be the best in my opinion. I was looking forward to harry taking him to starside and giving him a new life but oh well. As for Janos Ferenczy, what a complete tart! Not only was he a bit too close tp his own mother but he thought he just walk through harry's mind and not get a beating!!! I'm glad it did'nt turn out to be his vampire in harry.

Personally, I would have to agree that Faethor was the best character in any of the books, as far as villians go. Boris was too much of a half-wit, that Bodescu kid showed promise but got killed before he could do anything interesting, Thibor was too given to emotion, and Janos was just insane. Radu, Wratha, and the rest of wratha's raiders barely qualify, all in all. THe vampire world trilogy was good, and Nathan/Nestor plotline was excellent, but the Raiders just weren't evil enough to be cool. My two cents worth. *plink plink*

Don't forget Shaitan the fallen. The most evil one. Just too bad he didn't get a bigger part.

I always had a soft spot for Dragosani - in another world he could have been a really potent Lord.

I am going to reserve judgement on Jake for the time being. On the whole I think he is good, but at the moment he is fighting things to much. I guess most people would but what can I say I like Harry too much. We'll just have to see what he does in Defilers!

well...I think that there must be some aspect of Jake that is outstanding otherwise Harry would not have pick him to be the next Necroscope. We'll all see I guess. I loved the whole twist of how Shaitan might have been the first Vampire world vampire...but the strain originates through Faethor. The whole unending cycle of the vampire strain from him through Harry to Shaitan is great!!!! But exactly where did Shaitan fall from??? Or is that always up for speculation? Anyways..I guess you can guess which was my fav. Lord. :)

Let's see...

Jake .. he is real good. I think he's got a Indiana Jones feel to him ... that can be good, But if he becomes a greater necro than Harry i will feel sold out.

Now Favorite Villian ...

I'll be her thrall anytime ....( Drool..Drool...Drool....)

Canker As I understood it, Shaitan fell from the moment in time when he was 'vanished' at the end of the Necroscope books. So he is completing the circle - his vampire essence is stripped by Harry as his powers reach their full potential, and he is dumped back at the beginning of (Starside/Sunside's) time, where he starts his life as a vampire all over again. It's kind of a realisation of the potential suggests when Harry puts Dragosani back into Thibor's body.

Well, I have on more theory about Shaitan's fall. An initial fall perhaps? In Deadspawn, Mobius tells Harry about God having a dark side which He cast out. And, at the end, the angel speaking to Harry said Shaitan was one of them but would force their belief in him, so he was banished, since nothing goe to waste. Similar to the legend of Satan,Lucifer or whatever name. After that of course, we have the unending cycle. A bit complicated?

EHLANA - I'll bet you do. (sorry)

Here's my thought for the day.

Hardest of the Wamphyri - Shaitan (no question)

Scariest of the Wamphyri - does anyone remember Fess Ferenc?

Much better, Ehlana.

I see what you're getting at. It's what I thought in the Vampire World books with Nathan taking over from Harry. At first it was like 'Huh, who does this guy think he is?' but then you sort of get the feeling that in a sense he IS Harry. I think that will happen again, though I'm only 2/3 through Invaders.

By the way, where do you get your funky faces. There was a cool blue one you posted somewhere on the Board and I want them, too.

Love ya and leave ya.

EHLANA - you did that one on purpose. No one is THAT innocent, especially a vampire.

Frankly, I have always favored (gee, can't ya guess?) Vormulac. I -fumed- when Devtaki killed him, I figured him to be smarter then that, with or without a good sense of telepathy. I mean, if he's well over 100 years old, and is this big warrior-Lord, he should well know not to put much tust into any of his contemporaries, especially a female! (and I mean that for the Lady's of the Wamphyri, NOT the gender as a whole.) Ahh, it was truely a sad day whem dear Lord Taintspore was made a marty .....

As for our dearest friend Mr. Cutter, I agree, he is a bit thick headed, and determined, but Harry was just as bad at differing moments.

I like Jake. He was just put into a position that is totaly alien to him and he is trying to work it out. We take for granted that we know the "true" history of our world and others. If a normal person where to all of a sudden come across a brood of powerful vamps I think most would cringe and hide! Just give our Jake a little time. I am so curious to see how he develops. I took to Vormulac (in the book!) http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

I too was so pissed off with the way he was dealt with - I was sure that we had the ultimate wamphyri... anyway..

It just goes to show that even Wamphyri Lords aren't safe from the the females..

QUAIL...how do ya do that????

well Jake let me see......stubborn....arrogant....
he's ok, just trying to understand why he has been put in this postition.....incidentally, so am i....just wondering why he has been chosen by Harry...obviously Harry has seen good in him, so we have to have faith....
but he has to become stronger against letting vamps into his head.....
but he's cool...thats my informed scientific opinion...:)))

Vormulac, All of the Lords out of Turgosheim were piss poor compared to the olden Lords! What are you thinking?

Vormulac
December 4th, 1999, 10:25 PM
Atwei: Frankly, I must digress, and agree with you. For it was like Vormulac said in his conversations with Devataki, all the Turgosheim Wamphyri were outlandish freaks, even more so then the norm ~chuckles~ ... Radu was/is the best Lord of them All ~grins, nods~

Jake.. hmm. He does seem a bit stubborn, yes. But remember how long it took E-Branch to finally win Harry over.
Speaking of Harry.. it kind of surprises me that his.. what.. ghost? is in Jake's head. I thought that when Harry's body fell into the distant past, his spirit became the golden darts; thus ending his self-identity as we know it. Then again, I'm only quarter way through Invaders. =) Perhaps I'll find the answer to the conflict in this newest book.

Lord Wamus
January 8th, 2000, 06:09 AM
My favorite Wamphyri was Lord Wamus (if you couldn't guess)but I'm not entirely sure why.
He wasn't given as much attention as the others, but I guess the idea of a huge man sized Wamphyri bat is intriguing.

by the way, I don't mean to sound arrogant because I put the word "Lord" before Wamus, but I don't think Wamus had a cool Wamphyri surname, and I though Wamus alone sounded kind of weak.

Now the name has been mentioned, Lord Wamus is a little like Jake.... Arogant, pig headed and a bit dim.. Otherwise Lord Wamus might have lived a little longer.

Let's hope Jake lasts a little longer.

let me see....Favorite amoung the Wamphyri...hmmm, i have to say....Lady Karen...although she needed to die...she did it well and i cant help but feel she was loyal to the slug within, killing herself after it was taken from her...not out of the said losing of her heighted senses, but of a part of her...that which cared for her wounds...kept her alive...and gave her such a passion for the blood of man...yes, Karen is my favorite amoung the Wamphyri...she was also quite the sly little succubae...and if she was indead the "mother" so be it...

I believe Jake will supercide Harry. For it was Harry who chose him. If you recall when Harry died his essntents (golden darts) found other dart sons around th world.

The greatest of all the Wamphyri is Shaitan. He was the only Wamphyri that was pure evil. Though the others (especially Faethor,Shathis, and Radu) were evil, many of them did have some remenents of humanity left in them(like the Zoltiests of Turgoshiem).
Shaitan was more evil then some of the Lords before he even became Wamphyri.

I disagree, seems to me that all Shaitan was concerned w/ was pride and conquering. Whatever happened to pure bloodlust...? ...and which is more EVIL..?

Kalimari the Mindless

Don't you remember the ice castles, in the frozen wastes? He terrorised those within purely for the TERROR of it. And since there's little written about Shaitan (not half as much as I'd like...where's the series on him?) you can be assured the details are much worse.
Just remember that Shaitan is evil for evil's sake. (and because it looks good on a job application form..."so, you claim to be the ultimate force of evil then?"...hehe)

Andrew the Sinister

Shaitan is the greatest of all the Wamphyri no questions asked.

I like him, even if he is a bit stiff. Hell, I would be if I were just thrown in the same situation that he was!
