Carl & Krynus... Karen was told she was a Wamphyri Mother by Dramal Doombody... he didn't know for sure. He did it mainly to cause fear in the other Lords because they chastised him. When Harry drew the leech from Karen it issued many eggs... so she would have been a mother... the prophesized <sp> mother of the Wamphyri Legend that Dramal Doombody had hoped for.

And as I finish up the fifth book I see you guys were on the right track... I am glad I decided to reread the intire series.

There was a leech that flowed from her that issued the eggs. that followed harry and he torched it. Right? BTW I was carl but have ascended.

Yeah, I kinda forgot how that all went down... I read the book when it first came out and probably a hundred or others since then. Re-reading them back to back makes things so much clearer. I'll probably start Blood Brothers this week.

Ok, here's a thought. The leech of Lady Karen was a mother. Suppose when it left her, it entered a male, like Harry for instance, or a thrall. Then would we have a Lord that was also a mother? At least that's what I think...

Lichloathe probably, but the prophecies and what Dramal Doombody saw in the future had the Mother being a woman. But what is that saying about reading the future???? It can be a difficult thing to read and it is seldom ever clear, right?

Mike C,
yeah I know what you mean about Dramal taking a glimpse of the future (and how misleading it can be). What I wanted to say is that we could have a Mother without the host being male necessarily. Unles of course Mr Lumley has thought it otherwise....
By the way, how can I make these boldfaced letters?

Lichloathe,

To make bold letters, use the HTML bold tag. For example, to make the word "Wamphyri" bold, I would enclose them with a tag like this (replace '(' & ')' with '<' & '>'):

(b)Wamphyri(/b)

Pat

You can also replace he 'b' with an 'i' for italics, and a 'u' for underline. I'm not sure what others are available, but I'm gonna find out one of these days, once I get motivated in tackling this HTML stuff. I wonder if you can shadow like that?

testing.... <s>Wamphyri</s>

<u>Rule</u>!!!!!

Ok, so an 's' between the brackets means 'strikeout'... anybody know how to do shadowing?

Lichloathe, I believe Dramal Doombody envisioned that the Mother had to be female... that is why he passed his egg on to Karen instead of his Lieutenants.

It said in The Source that the people who got the eggs of a Wamphyri mother would be crazy but however as it is discovered in Deadspawn when Karens leech fled it an egg in her as a precaution but however Karen did not go insane. Is this the mother leech was dead? or because Karen had the mother leech at one time she was immune to it? or was it simply a plot hole? or perhaps she did indeed go insane but no one noticed?

I'd have to re-read the book. I don't remember the book saying that a mother vampire would go crazy. Just that if the Lady had a mother leech in her that she would be spent upon issuing all of the eggs. The way I look at it is like this....the leech takes on aspects of the host that it inhabits and intensifies it. Like a fox..(looks in some) If the man or woman was somewhat of a telepath or healer then it changes or intensifies those talents... Not often but it does seem that in some the fertility of a woman is greater than normal and the leech picks up on this, interperetes it as a talent and intensifies it to a fatal level....hence the mother Wamphryi

I believe one of the Wamphyri Mothers before Karen just happened to be crazy, not that all Wamphyri Mothers are crazy. Just my interpretation.

No, I did not say that the Wamphyri mother would be crazy just who ever got her eggs.

Just got through with Deadspeak and it doesn't say much about the Wamphyri Mother (to my recollection anyway) other than that it was a possible threat to the other lords because they would all be in thrall to the mother. AAAHAHAHAHAHAHA yeah just like the egg sons are in thrall to thier fathers, give me a break but they could be linked and so telepathically and I do remember a reference of an ancient mother going mad but not sure oh man I'm going to have to reread it a sixth time. I think the Vamp Worlds goes into more detail. I think the eggs are defective because of the amount, Kinda like fertility drugs can cause numerous fetuses and some when born have problems.

Just a thought.

If memory serves me correctly it was Freda that was a Mother Vamp back in the Olden Starside days of old. And the infection of all those eggs in her leech wasn't what drove her crazy..it was the KNOWLEDGE that she would die from the sheer experience due to fatigue and expenditure. Or at least that's what I remember. I'd have to re-read..which I am doing anyways. ;)

IT'S NOT THE MOTHER WHO GOES CRAZY BUT WHO EVER GETS HER EGGS!!!!!!!
IT SAID IN DEADSPAWN THAT KAREN GOT HER OWN EGG!!!!!!!!!

It amazes me how much someone can remember from 1 paragraph from a book.

Canker it was Freyda, Andrew the mother does not go insane your leech knew best and as for Karen, when Harry rousted her mother leech in the Source the leech left an egg in the lady Karen for self preservation (This last from Deadspawn).

In Freyda's case she died Spawning a deluge of eggs and all save one were diseased and likewise expired. Another fact is she was Faethors Great great aunt. I think thats how it goes. She was Faethors great grandfathers sister.(This is from Lost Years Vol 1)

If anyone still cares about this, I thought I'd make a correction here...

Freyda did not die from issueing her lot of eggs...She died in the throes of passion (?) with a construct she had designed with a "member".

Taken from BloodBrothers...

Whoops...my bad...I was thinking of Sheilar the Slut... http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/redface.gif

Canker

That's right Nathan.... Sheilar was the child or egg-child of Turgo before he fled for Turgosheim in the East.

Freyda was a Ferency and was "depleted" and perished from issuing all of those eggs at once. Prior to that she was driven mad knowing that this was a certainty and something that could not be avoided.
