Is the Vampire World Trilogy imperative to the rest of the series?

The only reason I ask this is because I started reading the Necroscope series the last week of August. When I realized that Invaders was a continuation of the series I stopped reading it to start from the beginning. I zoomed through the original series, but I can't seem to get into Blood Brothers. Does it get better? I'm still in the first part.
