Wamphyri Mothers

Just a quick thought regarding our beloved Mothers...

If the vampire leech itself is asexual, neither male nor female.... and each leech generates its own egg regardless of the host.... then would it be feasible to say that there can be male Mothers? Or would the leech assume the sex of its host, and then only females can be Mothers?

What do you guys think?

What the heck are you talking about? Just kidding. My theory is because they are females, their bodies interact differntly than males. Like if the leech came from wolf or a bat your features reflect this. Does that make sense? Also kinda like all emotions are intensified after the change, so are some of the functions. The ability to taste becomes stronger etc. And because females have the awsome abilty to have children, it is made better when she can have Wamphiri eggs.

Ok...I was thinking that since the vampire leech takes on the aspects of it's host..male, female, lesbian, animal then it is feesible that the reason that only the female Ladies are the only "mothers" is because it is adapting to match the female body. In essence ...the vampire leech is taking on the aspects of a human Ovary system which carries multiple eggs and then issues them , not one at a time, but all at once and thereby depleting the host system. Sound right????? *L*

Well, I just read the portion of The Source that first introduces Wamphyri Mothers... Zek explaining her time being Lady Karen's prisoner to Jazz... and LEGEND says that there will be another Mother Wamphyri that will produce more than one egg and she will be a powerful Wamphyri because all of her egg sons/daughters shall be in thrall to her. However it is described as a LEGEND, which leaves BL the opportunity to either make it a true or false legend. Does this help, Krynus?

I don't remember that part at all, maybe I'll go back and re-read some of it again. I think the Source is probably my favorite of the series anyway...

Funny how the legend states that the Lady will be powerful, because her egg-children will be in thrall to her... I seem to remember in the book it stated that the Mother dies after her leech mass produces the eggs, and that was Lady Karen's doom, for she was supposed to be a Mother. Hmmmm....

Krynus- My second time thru I am picking up all sorts of stuff I either missed, didn't understand or just plain forgot. A lot of things are making more sense as I re-read the books-- I never go back to previous books to clarify or refresh my memory... but with a story like this I should have.

Scarlet-Actually the way I understood it Dramal Doombody meant to unleash a powerful "mother" on the other Lords as revenge, so he passed his egg on to Karen rather than one of his aspiring Lieutenants. He told Karen she would be a "mother" http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif even though he didn't know if she was... he was just hoping and he wanted to scare the other Lords. As a mother she was doomed because-- either the vampire leech puts all of it effort into reproducing, or the other Lords all feared her and meant to form an aliance and try to whoop her arse.

imagine if she was a Mother... here could be a good scene...

she knows her leach is about to produce its many eggs, whether or not she controls it I don't know, but....

she goes into a movietheater, perfectly disguised as an ordinary woman. She sits somewhere in the middle, and silently produces her eggs, one after the other. Then she 'vamps out' and, during the chaos in the theater, her eggs infect as many people as they can! Then again, she'd probably bless her own minions with her eggs, I'd think.

I thought that the eggs could be produced in a number of ways. Thibor produced his from a "tenticle" and didn't some vampires steal the leech from inside another vampire and when it was outside their bodies it produced an egg? And didn't someone cough one up their throat?
This was discussed in one of the vampire world books but I can't remember the exact details.

yes the last arie if i remeber right. Well there are mant ways to porduce an egg. It depends on the situtaion. A mother dies after she to produces her millions of eggs. because he body is used up for the process of making the eggs. No that would be a true evil thing if thats what she is.
