I haven't sdeen this topic before. That seems odd. Did I miss it?
Other than teleportation, which I think is the obvious choice, what psychic power would you most like to have? Mine would be hypnotism. There doesn't seem to be much of that in these books so far. A little at the end of deadspawn with Harry and Darcy, but not much else. To be able to make people do what you want would be awsome. All the other powers seem to have drawbacks.

Telepathy! This would be my talent of choice. If you could read peoples minds you could potentialy control the world. You would know what people want and hate, therefore you could be a great leader. And if someone was your enemy, you could easily counter their every move, knowing there plans probably better than they do!

Brian's idea of telepathy would be cool to have. Where you can pretty much turn it off and on at will. But to really know someone's thoughts would be scary to me. You ever wonder about those people who say they here voices all the time? Who's to say they're not hearing the thoughts of everyone around them? That is a scary thought to me. People don't think in sentences. It would be to much.
Like I said hypnosis doesn't seem to be dealt with much in these books. telekenisis either. They seem to be the only powers that don't have some sort of repercussions. Does anyone think they were left out because of this? Does anyone else have a favorite power and a reason why?

(if i may intrude.. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif )
personally i would like to have both deadspeak AND metamorphosism. Think of the endless possibilities. To have total control over your body and i mean TOTAL. To elongate your hands etc, to heal any wound or illness, to change your appearnce. cool. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey Spawn,
think I'd have to go along with you, at least on Deadspeak. Imagine what you could learn from "The Great Majority". If they do indeed, do in death what they did in life. think of the things you could "invent", the stories you could write. Here wait a minute, is there something Brian has been trying to tell us http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif
As for metamorphism, well I'm sure everyone who ever paid for cosmetic surgery would give their eye teeth for a power like that.
Personally I would have to be greedy and go for all of the talents that Harry amassed before he left for Sunside. Of course it would be better if you didn't have a leech fighting you for supremecy (sp)

hi Katie
here is something to think about having the powers Harry had before and after leaving for Starside, and having both Darcy Clarkes and the human lie dectors (cant remember his name from ebranch) gifts now THATS power.

Hi there Spawn (check out your ICQ if you fancy a chat sometime!) You mean Ben Trask? Lie detecting would be a useful gift to have, but I'd hate to be married to someone with it!
I'd be happy to have the guardian angel myself, but mind-reading would really come in useful too, especially as I've got my annual pay review soon!

I'll go with Darcy's guardian angel... not much else matters if you are 'indestructible'.
Oh, and Nathan, I don't think it was a case of Harry not being able to get Darcy's talent. If I remember right, it was more like he didn't even try to get it.

I've not long finished re-reading Deadspawn and from what my feeble memory can recall, Harry did not try to take D'arcy's talent.
I don't think it even ocurred to him to take it, but even if it did D'arcy was well pissed at him for switching his talent off. Which was a direct result of his death when Paxton shot him. I doubt if D'arcy would have let him take it. I imagine D'arcy would have had to have let Harry into his mind "of his own free will". Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
But I do agree it would have been an awesome talent to aquire.

ok Nathan, I know which guy yer thinking of...
Wasn't Darcy, it was the locator... er, Trevor Jordan? Either him, or his partner, whichever, but he went into Harry's mind to switch on the 'locator mechanism', but didn't find it... he did find the same kind'a mech. that David Chung had, so gave him that instead... which was an 'empath locator'? i.e. he had to have something belonging to that person to find them. Hey, I just finished reading that book not too long ago, so I'm pretty sure. Ah! Not Trevor Jordan, it was Ken Layard! That's it!

With regards the Darcy Clarke, Harry was interested in his talent, for after all, who wouldn't want to be un-killable? Once he got into his mind however he discovered that Darcy's talent was a mutation, something unique to Darcy. It wasn't something he could turn on within himself. So he just wrapped Darcy's personal angel in a fragment of mindsmog, so it couldn't function. Darcy didn't know that Harry had shut it off, because Harry never told him. He figured it out easily enough after Paxton killed him however!

If you've lost your copy, I'd suggest you go peruse some used book stores. That is where I've built up my library. Excellent source for cheap, oftimes very good books! Hey, its where I found the orginal Necroscope, and got hooked!

you can still find bl books in barnes and noble's, that's where i found the last aerie, and there's been a festering lump of filth in there since i was 12....anyway, the one i want is empathy. I don't think i can handle the voices....

Diffinately telekinesis as you could form a shield around yourself to protect you from harm, like the Guardian Angel, plus you can use it to disable Wamphyri by freezing them etc... The only problem would be that numerous attacks would wear you out, or telepathy could mess you up in the mind!

Oh, I think Harry (or his leech) wanted Darcy's power alright...and when they couldn't get it, they practically killed Darcy by shutting it off, even though they were thinking of leaving for Starside anyway (the "they" is intentional).
Anyway, I think the best powers were those exhibited by the disembodied Harry in parts I-II; he was the master of time and didn't have to lug aroung a freakin' clock...

Powers then...Malinari has got quite a cool power. Seems like Janos had an easier time of using his mentalism though. I think I'd take Janos' power, just because he doesn't really have to get his fingers dirty. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Nothing at all...the name is backwards and Ron started talking backwards, so I did. Then I got a headache from thinking about it, so I quit. Now then...powers?
How about that Szwart? He can speak! I didn't know he had that power...?
