Has anyone noticed that Stargate SG1 has a snake like thing which hide in hosts "the gould" is very much like the leeches which Brian describes? do's anyone agree with me?

a lot of people would agree with the similarity between stargate & necroscope including Brian, and it goes a lot futher then just the snake like thing.

Taken out of context, okay !
But, Necroscope more corresponds to an supernatural
story. It's a Dark Fantasy story with some science fiction and thriller elements. It's not like Stargate "about cool boys and girls saving the world or the universe". Certainly, we can speak about the aesthetic of the Stargate universe but not about the story, the context, the psyche of the characters. Necroscope is more specific, more structured like a terrifying thriller with two world, the human world and the kingdom of Wanphyri.
It's not the same thing

I have long tracked the similarities between Necroscope and Stargate and having read Khai of Khem recently only made the comparisons to Brian Lumley's work more apparent.
In order to contrast these similarites I have compiled a list of them.

The military installation of Cheyenne Mountain in Stargate is just like the Perchorsk Project in Necroscope. To anyone familiar with the show there are many more references to Necroscope, from the overall demeanor of the System Lords(they just "act" like the Wamphyri) to last season's finale entitled
"Moebius."

I am a fan of the movie,show, and books but the influence is undeniable in the least.

Thank you Blue for your extensive research on this subject. I too found similarities when I started watching SG-1. I am now a huge fan of SG-1 (and also noticed the Moebius title, very interesting) and have been a fan of Brian's for a while.

One thing you may have missed is Last Stand (fifth season) where the Goa'ulds 'feast' on other parasites. Wamphyri find that the blood of the leech/another Wamphyri is the sweetest.

I don't know about Khai because I haven't read it.

didn't see that episode doesn't surprise me at all
that they would do that.
I'm sure there are even more.

I actually liked Stargate the movie before I read
the Necroscope Saga, then I read the books and loved them, and then the series came out and I started seeing the connections.

I thought about this topic a lot and if I remember correctly Stargate SG-1 was produced by Showtime and premiered the same year as the anthology series The Hunger(which featured an adaptation of Brian Lumley's short story "Necros")
I'm not sure how that deal came about, but wouldn't be surprised if a writer/producer over at Showtime is a fan of Mr.Lumley.

I actually have that "Necros" episode of The Hunger on VHS and am willing to make a copy for anyone if they send me postage/blank tape.
(though I can't vouch for the recording quality)

As a new-comer to this site , this is my first message , and as the ONLY person where I live who reads Necroscope AND watches SG-1 I am so chuffed to find that I am not the only one who sees the ressemblances between the 2
Symbiotic parasites acting as gods , using humans as prey/slaves and a big gate to connect all the ancient myths of earth to some far away planet , and after trying to get my flatmate to read Brian Lumleys work (as he is an avid SG-1 fan) but he doesn't seem to read at all!!!
It's great to be able to discuss this other fans of Harry and co without the raised eyebrows and people staring suspiciously into the bottom of there beer glass.
