WFC 2002

Ok, a little early on this one but I wanted to give a shout out to see who all was coming to this year's World Fantasy Con in Minnesota?

Since money (actually the lack of it) is looking like it will keep me from being at KeoghCon this year, I have to make it mandatory to be at the WFC. So, I will be there at least from Thursday night through Monday morning. Luckily, flights IN the US haven't become so high that they are too unreasonable but the overseas ones have.

So - who else is planning on coming out to see the Lumleys at this little gala?

I'm about 80% sure I will be there. I just got an update in the mail the other day and it served to remind me how much the membership fee was! And if I don't register soon it will go up even more!

I need to nail down dates of some other things I'm doing at around that same time to be sure I can make it, but I'm pretty sure it will work out.

Maybe there will be enough rooms at this hotel that I can actually stay at the convention this time!

Yeah - good point. For those of you interested in going - you might want to grab your memberships now. As of August 1, they jump another $30 to $150 (if you are doing the math, the current price is $120. [img]smile.gif[/img] )

And you're right man, being at the same hotel as the Con is a definite plus, although I don't think anything could have made Corpus Christi better - that con was - well - let's just say I have not much good to say about it.

Hey, I was at that Con and I thought it was pretty good. Maybe it depends on who you were with and who you were 'with'. It wasn't nearly as fun as WHC in Arizona a year or two back, but it wasn't horrible either.

Anyway that's my 2 cents. Jury's still out on whether or not I can make it to WFC.

Ok - let me make my statement clearer... the social side of the Con at Corpus was great.. the actual events and planning and turnout of the actual event - well - that's another story. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I will NOT be attending the WFC this year. Financial constraints, and my obsessive need to finish my novel will be keeping me home. Hopefully, I will be able to attend JerseyDevil Con in April.

I wonder if that makes me 80% chopped liver, and if so, what makes up my other 20%?

I seem to have foot in mouth syndrom lately! What I meant is that not many people will be there # wise... NOT that I wasn't looking forward to seeing those of you that are going to be there!

Brian and I will be there.

Except for the social meetings we had our social gatherings at the bar was it. The place was way out in the boonies so you were basically hotel confined because of the strong winds, heat and tremendous humidity. And when we checked out we had no air conditioning. Called maintenance, had ac until about 3:00 AM then nothing again until that afternoon, when they finally came and cleaned the thing. But then the prior night I told them it needed freon, you can always tell by the smell. It either needs freon or it's frozen up.

And every night in the bar I ended up with bodily injuries ... my feet still haven't recovered. Good that I had boots on. Anyone who was there knows what I mean.

Anyway, we'll all be able to gather in the bar some evening. We are outta there Sunday afternoon.

Ok, so a week and a half out, we have: Brian and Silky, moi, DaveStrorm, and JB - is anyone else planning on making an appearance? Hmmm? Inquiring minds wish to know.... Ema? Aren't you right in that area?

Yep, in the area, but unfortunately no running vehicle, and with the bus only going to the cities once a day, in order for me to be able to get to the signing alone, I would have to leave the day before, stay the night, go to the signing, stay the night and leave the next morning. And I can't afford to take three days off work just for that, as much as I would love to meet The Master & Silky. Same goes with the Con, with the bus $98 each way, and motel fee's each night.. no can do.

But I'm sure you all will have a grand time and I'm not too discouraged, there's plenty of life living yet to be able to meet them both, there is always next years KeoghCon to think about too.

And I know photos galore will be available that we all can see when its all said & done. And too, I have family who live in Washington DC.. I can always catch the next Con and visit family as well.

Sorry to hear that Ema, was really looking forward to finally meeting ya! I guess we'll shoot for one of the upcoming cons next year...

Anyone else planning on making it or does the Lumlian list look final for this gathering?
