Okay...so nobody except Tops reads around here? I read every day! Are you all telling me you wouldn't like to read or re-read some Brian Lumley books and discuss them? Well, Lumlian knowledge took a few days to get going and look how that turned out!! I'll just have to hope this takes off too.

So what I'm going to do is finish up on Dreamcatcher by Stephen King and then post the name of the BL book I plan to start. I'll read three stories from it (yes, it will be a short story book) and whatever my thoughts on them are...I'll post it here after the specified time is up.

When you see the name of the book I plan to read, you can either read along with me or not. When I've given my thoughts on it, you can either provide some thoughts you had on it or not. If you've read what I'm reading before, feel free to attempt to discuss it from memory. You don't have to reply to this if you plan to join me...or you can!! Doesn't matter...

...I'll be reading and posting anyway!!

Due to certain very important work that needs to be finished, I am going to push the 'start date' back to the original 'post date'...the sixth of June.

Dust off that book or run to the bookstore or simply click on over to Amazon.com. Just get this book! I hear it's worth it...we'll see!

It's the sixth of June...do you know where you copy of Fruiting Bodies is?

I'm starting tonight, reading three stories, and posting on them next Wednesday...the thirteenth.

The stories I will be reading are picked at random because of their intriguing titles. That's the way I read short story books so that's the way I'll do it here! Here they are...

The Man Who Felt Pain
The Pit-Yakker
The Thin People

I could very well be a one man 'group' but do I feel foolish...?

A little...but ***k it!!

Hiya Nathan

Put me down so you're not in a one man group.

I made of a point of reading all off Brian's short story collections before I went to meet him in April, so a lot of them are fresh in my mind.

I'll re-read your 3 selections though and add to your posts next week. See what we come up with.

Nathan,

I've had a thought (hope you don't mind!).

What if people could read at their own speed (such as me as I have a huge mound of books on the go), or even only 1 short a week... then I know I would be more interested as I could give it the time it needs Also rather than picking titles from a book, you could just list the story name, that way people will know if they have it, e.g. The wishperer has a lot of stories that are repeats from books of shorts over here.

I've actually read the stories that you're talking about in the last year, so it wouldn't take much to refresh my memory. I'll certainly either read the Pit Yakker or the Thin People this weekend.

How's that for a start?

Tops.

Jase--You da sh** dude!! Thanks!! And if you think you can go from your memory, feel free! But I've already got one question on The Man Who Felt Pain that might require some rescanning...

Tops--You da sh** too!! The only reason I use time restrictions is so no one will post before the week is up and ruin something for someone who hasn't finished. You don't have to be done by the time the week is up, but be prepared for spoilers at that time. I'll be done with all three stories well before the thirteenth, but will hold my toungue just to make sure everyone else has a chance to finish. And the reason I listed the stories was mainly because I knew they could be found elsewhere in other books, magazines, etc...wherever you got 'em...that's cool.

Thanks again guys!!

(I was starting to feel little like the baby osrtich from Bugs Bunny that kept sticking his head in the sand saying, "They left me all alone!!" )

Nathan,

Also, possibly a good idea would be to have a new thread for each story.... that way I wouldn' get as confused!

Recount those stories from memory, you're joking, aren't you.

I have to take a list with me if I need to buy more than 2 things from a shop.

I've got one story left to go and will read that tonight.

Cool Shadoe!! I've already got my post prepared though, so you better hurry!

I thought about what you said Tops, but a different thread for each story might be way too many threads...and all of them small. One for each book would be a good idea, but I think we can keep it easy with one thread for all the stories in Fruiting Bodies. We can always start new ones if it does get confusing.

I post tomorrow morning. Will everyone be ready? Deano...? You back yet dude?

Nathan,

well I'm still at first base as I've only read one of the stories, but that wont stop me

I still think it could get a bit confusing, but like you said we'll see... it's your call, after all it's your thread!

So will the hthread be called "group read - fruiting bodies"?

Cool

Unless I come up with something more creative...probably so.

There are 13 stories in the book, so we'll try the first 7 in one thread and see how it goes from there.

We got three more to pick for the next round. Let's begin Friday and go through the next Friday...cool?

Would my three players like to pick a story each? No hurry...just post em by Friday for me.

...this is all after we discuss the first three...of course.

Thanks N8,

I'll pick from FB "The man who photographed Beardsley".

On the other thread so far, I've just put down answers to several questions you were asking, but I better put my "writing cap" on and wax lyrical over there.
