Lightbulb

Okay, having just returned from the reading rock festival, I thought it would be fun to find out who you would have on your all time Fantasy Festival line up.
To make it a bit more interesting, I have borrowed an idea from radio 1 (in the UK), so there are a few rules.
1, a maximum of only 8 bands
2, 1 band from the sixties
3, 1 band from the seventies
4, 1 band/singer who is now dead
5, at least 1 new band

So to kick things off here is my line up, the first band will be the Headline band.

Nirvana (dead star Curt Cobain)
Rage against the machine
System of a down
Faith No More
T-Rex (70's band)
Queens of the stone age
Small Faces (60's band)
the Libertines (new band)

Hmmmm... can't think of any 60s bands that I would wanna see at all... *thinks hard*... nope, not one! Are Mott the Hoople 60s? (where's Keith G-E when you need him!) Not a huge fan, but I don't think I like anything from the 60s at all! But anyway, I'm claiming them as my 60s band out of ignorance!!

So, in no particular order, on stage we have:

Mott the Hoople (for the 60s)
New York Dolls (for the 70s and the dead member, Johnny Thunders)
SITD (Shadows In The Dark) (for the new band)
Bauhaus
Neuroticfish
Icon of Coil
Nine Inch Nails
Mesh

I could always go to the beer tent while Mott the Hoople were playing!

I may have to make a second Fantasy Festival (DebAuchery) to include a couple of the other bands that Deano's rules forced me to replace!!

Wink

Sixties--The Doors
Seventies--Pink Floyd
Dead guy (yeah, I know Morrison's dead)--Alice in Chains
(kinda) New band--Godsmack
Headliners--System of a Down, Pantera, Slayer, and Celine Dion.

(Yeah, I know, sc**w you guys. She's good and I do have a sentimental side. She's soooo dreamy!)

Dead Guy = Jimmi Hendrix
New band (just how new?) The Coral
Headliners = Metallica / Kyuss

N8, the canadians apologised for Celine Dion (it was in South Park, but it counts) and also Brian Adams (are you a closet fan)

How can you live through the eighties and not dig Bryan Adams? And the song from the Robin Hood movie gets me teary every time.

I will answer your question Tops but do keep in mind that I don't even remeber posting this as I was under the influence so to speak

I wasn't making a genral comment it was just my experience with people I know, I love the Coral I think there awesome but alot of my friends are very indifferent to them.

Hope that explains my "underated" comment

Hey Sophie, I am sooooo with you on the Hanoi Rocks thing (and only slightly less on the Motley Crue, as their singer killed Hanoi's drummer!)!

I was a glammie when I was 15-18 ish, and loved Hanoi Rocks in particular (still do!)... was ecstatic when I got to meet Mike Monroe at a gig in Newcastle... still got his autograph somewhere (sad!), although he looks a bit worse for wear these days, LOL! (I have a secret CD collection that I hide from everyone and can only play when the house is empty!)

Hmm well Vince from Motley Crue has allways been a bit of a tit, he's my least favourite member. Wow meeting Mike, amazing, I remember I nearly got into this band a few weeks ago that was a support act for Hanoi Rocks, and they would have taken me on, except they had a singer already, I replied to late to the add (sobs hesterically). I was depressed for a week solid.

Ah you should never be ashamed of your glammie roots. I'm a self admitted goth glammie and proud. I constantly annoy some of my friends who are not as considerate to glam stuff, and play Motley Crue and Hanoi Rocks on full blast when they come round, and insist on dragging them to Gossips in London. They get their own back by dragging me to thrash metal and new metal clubs though

But I do have a secret stash of CD's, and I'm not telling anyone EVER what they are. as they are shameful.

Oh dear, I spent ages wracking my brains for my ultimate list of bands, but the guitarist from my old Glam band rang me before to say he's got tickets for The Bay City Rollers and and he's dragging me along. (He didn't want to go on his Jack Jones for some reason.)

Not even sure of the line up as at one time there were two bands of Rollers with original members doing the rounds and I recall the drummer was put in prison because of kiddy fiddling charges.

So I've lost 200 Fonzie cool points and my musical credibility is an all time low.

However, I'll be able to sing Shang-A-Lang with the gang.

Sophie, you used to go to Decadence at Gossips? I love it there but can never get anyone to go... it's no fun with the hubby as he justs sits muttering "what the f*ck is this"!

Cool

The Bay City Rollers aren't my cup of tea, but there aren't the most shameful band you can see and they are ok. But they make good drunk music as I found staggering around a really crap club one day.

I'd like to say to all the young dudes off to Itchykoo Park that you light my fire I'll have a perfect day. In fact it will have me dancing in the street as it is a kind of magic.

Right, I think I got one from each of you in there!

Mine?

Er,

Dead & dead - Queen (70s) and Ian Dury & the Blockheads
60s - Gloria Jones
The Specials
Athamay
Bob Dylan
NiN
Tommy Cooper (he did sing!)
