    Smile Hello All

I've been a big Brian Lumley fan ever since the first Necroscope novel was recommended to me back in the early 90s. I also used to visit this site long ago when it was first getting started (before there were message boards). Let's see, I've got everything he's published and have worn through no fewer then three paperback copies of The Necroscope.

I came here today because I went to the bookstore last night for some new reading material. I'm having surgery on Thursday and wanted something new to read while I'm off work next week recovering. I was pretty suprised that Mr Lumley had a recent novel out (The Touch) so I picked it up in hardcover. I'll probably start reading it this weekend if I'm up to much of anything.

As an aside, I just started reading Bram Stoker's Dracula the other day. I've never read it but the first few chapters just seemed so familiar.

Ouch, had to look that one up.

The wife kind of looked at the cover a little strangely. I mean, she knows I read horror but I don't think she's ever really paid attention to a BLumley cover. I must say that he's consistantly had the best artwork of any author I regularly read.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the well-wishes. I had my surgery and am home recovering. The surgery I had is called a UPPP. I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea about a year and a half ago. With OSA your throat collapes during the night, cutting off your breathing. With me this happened on average of every two to three minutes in the sleep lab. The first fix is to make you sleep with a CPAP which is basically an air-compressor with a facemask. I roll over constantly at night so could not get used to sleeping with the mask and even hung myself a few times with the hose.

With a UPPP they remove your ulva (the dangely thing in the back of your throat) and part (in my case most) of your soft pallet.

I also had a Septoplasty to fix a deviated septum.

Right now I'm on a pretty much liquid diet and taking Codeine every few hours.

So, now I'm home and will start reading The Touch.

Right now it's been smoothies, pudding, and mashed potatoes. My wife's boss has told her that she's having a bunch of ice cream delivered from "the best ice cream company in the country". I'm definately waiting for that to show up.

Same boss gave my wife a $650 gift certificate towards a family portrait at an exclusive photographer in the area a few months ago so I know this will be goooood ice cream.
