    FIREFOX BROWSER DIFFICULTY...

    Hello All,

I had just downloaded Firefox 2.0.0.1 to find that it doesn't show up graphics on quite a few of the sites I go to, particularly the MessageBoard and Ebay. I went to the monthly update to find that my images disappeared.

I went to IE 7 and Opera and they came out fine, and they even came out fine in the old Netscape 7.1.

Fortunately I kept the old 1.0.7 exe file and downloaded it back. And now everything is back to normal. Thank goodness because the only thing available at mozilla.com now is the new version...

For anyone who is thinking of switching over ... I wouldn't advise doing it yet.

    Just a little info...

Thanks Silky! I am back using Mozilla 1.7.13 as Firefox was just a bit strange and wasn't what I was used to, I don't think they do plain old Mozilla anymore now.. just the Firefox/Thunderbird Suites. Good to find out that the newest version is still a bit buggy before I tried it again. Heh heh, I've got this theory that if programs work.. then don't upgrade! I do the same with Windows, when it stops working (or has 5 million crashes) I'll upgrade. Win 2000 Pro still works well for me and I just went to that a year or so ago from Win98!

    HI All,

I've been using firefox 2 since it came out with no problems at all... seriously. I much prefer it to any of the other browsers out there...

Shame it's not working for you

I've been told by Shadoe just to reinstall it and check to make sure the box is ticked for load images. It was automatically done on the older version and on 2.0.0.1 I did tick new window rather than tabs.

Yes, Ema, I did notice that Mozilla is gone of the site and it's just Firefox and Thunderbird. I've got Thunder installed, have had for some time, quite easy to switch mail folders from Netscape 7.1. Yes, I know, Net 7.1, I'm still in the dark ages. I've got Netscape 8 disc but it doesn't have mail, I could install it and work the new browser because it doesn't interfere with 7.1. I know this because I installed it on my old machine and I still had both.

Anyway, it's really time I switched over to Thunder for my mail. I do like the looks of it but I don't like Outlook Express, although I have it.

    That's all for now...

    Oh poo...

I went and installed 2.0.0.1 again and I still have the same problem.

I went into the options and everything is ticked for content. Including load images automatically.

If I did anything wrong let me know before I go back and re-re-install the older version again...

    I'm on Windows XP......

No clue Silky... I would just reinstall the old version for now since it is working for you. I need to swing by and take a look at your computer - oh wait - can't do that very easy! Tom - swing by Bri and Silky's house and fix her computer already!

    Hi All,

Just worked out the problem. When a web page doesn't show the graphics, for me it was AOL, Ebay and Messageboard ...

Go to the options, click on content, next to load images automatically you'll see on the right a box that says exceptions ... click on it and type in the address to allow the images...

So far this is working for me and we'll see ... I would much rather keep an up to date browser than go back to the old one, but this, for now seems to have solved the problem.

    Cheers!

Aye - is a natty feature designed to stop images loading from sites other than the one you're on - basically a simple ad blocker... Trouble is it might get confused when an image on www.ebay.com is served from images.ebay.com. It shouldn't but then again nothing is certain... )

Dave says he can't understand my my machine is doing this buy anyway it is, but like I've said, if the images don't show I'll just the web sites to the allow site and there'll be no problems. I certainly am not going to take off the ad blocker ... what a nightmare that would be. Been there ... done that ... and didn't like it much.

    So far all is well.

Well, seems I had to upgrade to Firefox in order to do my online taxes. I still have my Mozilla installed, until I get everything sorted for Firefox. Only thing I don't like about the new one, not that it's a big problem since it does pop-up informing me of cookies, is that I can't hit tool/cookie manager to block all cookies from a site easily. So will see how it goes :-)

    Ema,
There's bound to be an add on that will allow you to do that - which is one of the things I really like about firefox If I think, "hey wouldn't that be nice", someone generally already has, and I can just add it on

Tops ... You are right. I did notice on the mozilla site add-ons but I didn't really take the time to check them out. I must do that one day to see exactly what they have ... but in the meantime ... everything seems to be working just fine.

Yep, I like it mucho too. I never did cotton much to IE although I do use it for a backup. I have Opera too just in case.

I'm still using Netscape 7.1 for my mail but I really should switch over to Thunderbird. I've got it installed and fortunately you can copy and paste the same mail folders from one to the other. Just about the only ones you can do that with. I don't like Outlook, probably because I've never used it but I like compatible programs....
