Unhappy Walking in at the end.

Long story short: I was lucky enough to find "Iced on Aran" in a used bookstore...only to realize later that it's the 4th in a series I don't have. Still, I already kinda know David Hero from "Necroscope and Other Weird Heroes!"

    Question:
Is it a book I could read on its own or will I be totally lost?

Iced on Aran contains four interconnected short stories. I would say that they can be read without reading the other three novels (Ship, Hero, and Mad Moon of Dreams.) If you can possibly get your hands on those other books though, they are brilliant.

I'm sure they are...just not sure if I can ever find them.

Not sure how much you want to spend to get the books, but Paul Ganley, Brian's publisher from the early years has them available in hardback and trade paper, if I'm not mistaken from his ebay store. You can also get them (the Ganley edition) right through the site here from Amazon (they stock Paul's books). Just go to the Ganley section under books and scroll to the bottom of the page. I can tell you from personal experience, these editions are put together nicely and are a great addition to your collection - not to mention the great stories inside the book! Here's a direct link:

    Good luck!

I'm in 100% agreement with Shadoe - they are fantastic editions of the books - I want more, but as I have them all now, it's not the end of the world. get them - Ganley is a great bloke!

I agree too. I have ordered some books from him last week, can't wait. He has some good prices too, pleasure to deal with.
