    Unhappy KEOGH GATHERING 2008...

Greetings Fellow Lumlians ... and KeoghConians…

September 2007 saw KeoghCon become a "Gathering" in lieu of a convention as such. September 2008 was to be of the same nature but alas due to circumstances out of our control...

KeoghCon/Gathering is now no more. The Shedden Hall Hotel has been sold to a property developer and the owners are moving to Portugal and getting away from it all.

"Why can't we still hold it with the new owners?" some you have asked. Well, can't do beause the hotel is no longer going to be a hotel. It's going to be holiday flats. For those of you who have actually done the Torquay event ... the hotel rooms on the bar floor; that whole section is being totally knocked down. There will be no more bar. The large windows overlooking the bay are being demolished as well and the room is being knocked back as far as the first pillar section behind it.

It's too far down the road now for us to go out and try to find another venue. It took quite some time and venturing a field to find this place. This was the perfect location. Sure, there are other hotels next to this one but the prices were not acceptable.

Brian and I would like to thank everyone who has attended over the years. We've had great times and enjoyed meeting all the new folk and meeting up again with the old regular folk we've known for years. Your support has been very much appreciated.

We will leave the link for the Necroscope Convention on the site for all those to view past cons. For the time being anyway.

    Warmest Regards,
    Brian & Silky Lumley

indeed it is a shame.... quite rubbish really.

I don't know about anyone else, but even though this wont happen, we should all still meet up at some point this year, as I for one don't want to lose touch with people I've become very close to over the years. So who's for a meet up later on in the year??

I'm gutted it's not going ahead but I'm with Tom on this one, don't mind where or when. If need be I'm happy to host a summer BBQ or some such.

    Hey, All...

Just don't forget to drop us a line when there's a meet up. You never can tell, we might be able to make it because we don't want to lose touch with everybody either.

And, naturally, anytime we are doing anything here in the Good Ole UK we'll let everyone know.

Brian might be doing a one day Saturday convention in Derby end of April. It's in the process of being finalized but if/when it is I'll put a post in the Messages Forum.

We are still up for a meet somewhere else.

As Tom said, don't want to lose touch with anyone.

That's cruel - a twist of fate etc. Surely a meet somewhere else would be a good thing? Definitely up for that if fit!!

    meetin ups?

i recently recieved hardback copies of The taint and other Novellas, Tarra Khash, Sorcery in Shad, and The touch!

wooo hoo! now my B. Lumley collection is nearly complete!
i have most of the Necroscope novels in paper AND Hardback...

im only missing my Demogorgon(where is it?!), and one of the dreamland books: Oh, I read them yes, but i might have let a 'friend' read them too: and never got em back....

however: im responding because I work for Holiday Inn, which has hotels in over 130 countries, and I can work some sweet rates for 'friends and family'

let me know when and where you want/need to be: ill see what i can do: (not EVERY Holiday INN honors my 'connections', but what the hell does it hurt to try?!)

Isn't saying something like that asking for trouble? I fancy an impromtu trip to Tibet, but I can't see that happening.

Congrats on the driving though - I take it you're not bored of driving everywhere yet? I didn't think I would ever bore of it... 500+ trips on the M6 later and I realise I was wrong Still it's fun while it lasts.

As for where and when? Perhaps arrangements should move to the retreat?

It would have been a better idea to have waited until 2011. You would have been allowed to attend then.

    A for effort though

    I AM 2011!
Keith, shouldn't that be 'E' for effort!?

This is a real shame. I haven't been able to attend yet, and every year I tell myself i will, and then all of a sudden i get poor because i have to spend money on schoolbooks. Now it's too late. I'm sad

I'm sad to see this go. Livingin the US it takes a lot of saving and planning to try and go, but I kept trying to put money away to go to this... Oh well. Guess that means we really DO get to be working on a mission fund!

Now that I live in Torquay I though woohoo I'm going to be able to go to a Keogh Con. Ah well the future is a devious thing. If there are to be any meetings I would like to be involved and help in any way possible.

    Cheers Nec
