Animation?

How about using animation for a Necroscope movie? The possibilities are endless, and the ability to show metamorphisim would be great. If you have ever seen the movie Heavy Metal, you can get some idea of what I am talking about. And if you haven't seen it, I would suggest you do!

Anyway, I think that animation, or anime, would be the best way to do a Necroscope movie. Does anyone agree?

Great idea Daxx. Heavy Metal style animation could truly render all the fantastic events of the books and depict the gore and horror of the wamphyri.. reminds me of those cool violent animes, you know?

Eh!. Im sorry but if im thinking of the same Heavy Metal Animated film as you, the animation is rubbish. some of the characters are quite well drawn but other than that it sucks.

Anime, pure Japanese style is the only way to go, just think Legend of the overfeind or Devilman. Spawn the Animated series is a
good example as todd mcfarlen ( Spelling??) wanted it to be as japanses as posible and the that is the way the series turned out.

Tonka, I was'nt necessarly talking about that particular animation, but just animation in general. And besides, give them a break, it was done in the early 80's, all animation was like that!

And I agree on the spawn idea. I just used the Heavy Metal as a suggestion cause I had just watched the movie.

Actually Todd McFarlane has ever read any of Brian's books. Least that what he said to me all 7 times I've asked.

But if there was going to be a design for a movie I'd like to see it be his work.

But Paul S. has/had the best depiction of the Wamphyri to date.

animation, in the style of the new movie to be released soon, Titan A.E. , would translate nicely to works such as Brians. also, have to seen what they are doing with the new Final Fantasy? I saw the trailer and I swear it was so lifelike I had to remind myself that it was animated.

I think, personally, the way Aeon Flux is done would be really great for the Necroscope, and do that in a tv animated series, late at night, of course, and let me do voice overs of the Ladies and Brenda...

i think a movie would be hard to do Necroscope justice...
however, with computer animation, it would be at least possible to visualize the dirty deeds done by the wamphyri...
the movie would have to be X- rated however,
the MPAA would never go for all the blood and especially guts that the wamphyri spill..

what about going out of country to do it?

the animation house that did Neon Genesis: Evangelion would be able to pull this off no sweat and we'd finally have anime that is SUPPOSED to be in english.

Besides let's face it, if the thing is going to be animated, then it's going to be kiddie-fied if it's done by an american studio (Don Blueth, Disney, Pixar). If it's done out of country we have a better chance of seeing the full story rather than just bits and pieces of what we are all salavating for.

Sidious, I agree that the studio that did Evangelion could do the animation for a necroscope movie very well, unfortunatly I doubt they would do it, it's just not there forte!. they do things that are in effect romances or storys of "growing pains".

Now Go Nagi, the guy that did Devil man would definatly be able to pull it off. well appart from his 80's character desings.

if the series was ever adapted for film, anime would probably be the medium of choice. but keep in mind to get all novels on film you'd probably need 14 3-hour installments, minimum. that probably won't be to cheap.

every season is another novel.Done in chronological order it would work great.

at least 3 seasons before they even go to Starside. the possibilities are endless.

Animation has a certain appeal, but I'd much prefer to see real people play the various parts. I think a six/seven movie series should be planned, with work beginning on all immediately. That is the only way a decent job could be done on the genius story telling of Mr. Lumley and then the continuity would not suffer. All returning characters could be signed on for the entire series.

Please no anime... Crimson eyes the size of pie-pans? That would NOT do! I agree with Brenda. The new animation that Titan AE was done with...

And to call the new Heavy Metal movie "Heavy Metal 2000" is blasphemy. It was not very well done.
