Off topic - I know, but it is in the movie forum. FOr any Star Wars fans out there - here is the new title for the upcoming prequel:

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

I know - your first reaction? Are you serious?! George Lucas has really lost it this time. This is really the official title for the second episode. I'll still go see it - but it just seems hokey now.

let me know what you guys think....

I was thinking something more familiar...like...

Star Wars Episode II: The Clone Wars

...(somewhat) looking forward to it anyway though. The first one still has me skeptical...

How about Rise of the Empire???

Attack of the Clones sounds like a cheesy b-movie.... what was he thinking?

I have to admit it is very hokey. I also would have expected something along the lines as Episode II: Clone Wars but oh well. The tittle might hurt the proceeds a bit but I think he'll still make a killing on the movie.

How about STAR WARS Episode II: "The Return Of The Tired Old Movie Franchise".

Or maybe STAR WARS II: "For God's Sake, It's A Bloody Kids Film".

At the time, I loved the first two films, maybe since being 8 in 1977 and 11 when Empire was released, I was in the ideal age range of the target audience, both to see the films and buy the toys, i.e. Primary School.

To be honest when I saw Jedi in 83, I'd just turned 14 and even then, I thought that the Star Wars films were beginning to look childish.

Another reason I'm not a fan is due to the ripples this Blockbuster caused in film making and the industry in general in the late 70s which are still with us today.

So next time you complain after a trip to the piccies that the film was mind mush due to...

No plot, just a reliance on car chases, explosions, action scenes, stunts, SFX

Crap dialogue, unbelievable situations and plot twists that a 5 year old would laugh at,

Was the same as any number of films in its genre (or others) and had interchangeable plots and characters played by Hollywood stars (not actors)

An on-going number of sequels that are just a continuation of the first film,

The ending (which had been vetted by focus groups) seems odd as it's completely different to the rest of the film or in the case of a Director's Cut edition, changes it arse about face.

You know to point the finger back at the 1977 Golden Goose, when the Corporations re-took Hollywood to make big returns on their investments, making tosh to the above formula and sounding the death knell to the independents who trail-blazed in the late 60s / early 70s.

Jase is just a little more eloquent...

...but I have an excuse to go see it! I have a six year old son!! (...and mentality )

At least it's not Attack of the Killer Clones!

'Attack of the Clones' just plain scares me.

I do have to wonder if this is one of Mr Lucas' tricks, though. Wasn't there something waaaay back in '82 with 'Return of the Jedi' being called 'Revenge of the Jedi' for months prior to release in order to catch out bootleggers ?
Maybe thats just a Star Wars Urban Myth...I don't know

'Attack of the Clones'
I'm still scared...

I laughed out loud when I heard about this on the radio today... does this mean that Episode 3 will be "Return of the Clones" ... or better still, "The Bride of the Killer Clones"... or in a rather surreal twist, "The Killer Clones vs Abbot & Costello"?

Wink

How about "Revenge of the Redneck Jedi"? You might be a Redneck Jedi if:

1) your jedi robe is camouflage print.
2) you use your light saber to open beer bottles, light cigs, pick teeth, clean fish, or as a bug zapper.
3) your X-wing is on blocks in the front yard with at least one section in bondo.
4) you have bantha horns mounted on your landspeeder.
5) you think Ewok tastes like chicken.
6) you find no grammatical errors or syntax challenges in the way Yoda talks.
7) you discover that your greatest enemy is your father who is also your brother.
8) you see no reason why Luke and Leia shouldn't marry.

Question

Is John Williams composing the score for this film or will the theme tune be a rendition of "Send in the Clones" by Sinatra.

If it was left to Lucas to choose the film's musical accompaniment, he'd probably pick "Money Money Money" by ABBA. LOL

Heh heh Scar!

Well, truthfully, I wasn't very impressed with the first episode, I suppose I am a die-hard of the original 3 and a believer of 'enough is enough', especially with all new characters.

That's why I liked the Star Trek movies (yes, am a Trekkie! :-Þ), because they were regular characters, albeit a mixture of the two series. So won't see this new one until it comes out on video and that will be if I can't find any others to watch.

Unhappy

The problem with the Phantom menace(apart from a lack of story) was Liam Neeson and what-his-face, the Scottish actor, they were so unbelievable, and seemed to be acting well below their usual standards.
It made me think that they'd only done the film because of the world wide publicity they would get.

In saying all that I'm still going to watch the other two when they come out, and whilst we all seem to be coming out the closet yes I am a trekkie too. but like Canker only in the fact that I watch all the stuff on tv

I have seen Creechur's kill for less ...

They will probably change the title to Clone Wars... considering the Storm Troopers.

Cool

I would like to point out to GG & Creech that I respect Liam Neeson & the Scottish-whats-his-face

Ewan McGregor(dodgy spelling) was outstanding in Trainspotting & Liam Neeson was awsome in Schindlers list, but I still stand by what I said They were bloody awful in the Phantom Menace.
