I don't know about author bashing Shadoe cos I've never read Anne Rice but I would love an oppertunity to slate that crap program Buffy the Vampire slayer. They are the most pathetic vampires I have ever seen. Harry would probably piss himself laughing at them.
Sorry about the crude language everyone.

Ps. I named my FFVIII character after you cos it's such a cool name.

    Thumbs down

I like Buffy and think that all new versions of the vampire story should be welcomed and enjoyed to keep the interest going.

Here is my low down: All the other vampire stories are just not truly comparable to Brian Lumley's vampire stories. Anne Rice takes on the romantic view, Stephen King takes on the child's point of view, The Lost Boys was originally intended to be a comedy(somehow it became more serious, I don't know how, because the vampires' blood sparkled-these things happen), and buffy-I think that IS a joke-I mean PEE WEE Herman played a vampire in the original movie. Brian Lumley's vampires are pure terror, that's where he makes the difference!

Ok, here goes..lol I like Anne Rice for her descriptions of the history and places her characters go, and also have a deep fondness for New Orleans, hated the movie, sorry, but they had not only the wrong hair color for the characters but, well, don't get me started.

Stephen King? He has written a few good ones, the early ones being better..The Stand for one. as for Salem's Lot..you should have seen the couch full of adults with our glasses of vino when that kid sat up out of that coffin. I think I cleaned for three hours trying to get the red stains out of it the next day. LOL

Brian is the best as far as what I like about vampires, but the classic Bram Stoker, well, they just don't write them like they used to. Of course I do enjoy reading all types of literature, I have been known to go from vampire, to virus hunting, to spy novels, to forensic medicine and to the classics... I will give all books a chance EXCEPT those really bad, whip 'em out to make huge bucks romance novels and Harlequin booklets..ewwwwww. Sorry for those who like them, but that is a waste of reading time to me, give me a great Vamp/ESP/Spy novel anytime Ok, ok, another kudos post to Mr. Lumley I can't help it.
