Crow and DeMarigny ; The two Doctors...

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed all the DeMarigny series of books (oh!,and Titus Crow,too,nearly forgot about him!),it must be said that there is a strong resemblance to the Doctor who has been travelling in space and time for quite a while now,who I am sure everyone will be quite familiar with.A machine that is bigger inside than out that travels in space and time!.The Doctor,though,doesn't go and crash into planets,get himself turned into a bionic "superman" and then bugger off with a gorgeous tart on a pleasure planet and leave his naive assistant to get on with it!.I must admit that I enjoy the villains more in the Cthulhu mythos as they are more down to earth.Or is Cthulhu actually at rest in a Dalek mothership somewhere under the sea,plotting with Sea-Devils and Cybermen?

I thought the clock of dreams resembled Dr Who, but after that I'm not to sure.
Each book seemed to be done in a different style to the last, you go from a kind of sinister Holmes and Watson tale to an outrageous Dr Who jaunt then into my favourite place the Dream worlds, then off on a completely different adventure with Hank Silberhute (don't know if I've spelt that right) then a kind of mished adventure of books 3 and 4 in the moons of borea, then finally onto the 6th book which is the culmination and a kind of mix of all the previous five.

All in all I don't think you can give the Crow books a single tag and say "oh there exactly like such and such" as I think there is a mixture of inspirations in them all.

Of course the latest Who on the Beeb website is featuring a horror that came from the stars and comes for you from under the ground... And to one degree or another is controlling people's thoughts...

Although the Doctor's new assistant (to be) is alot more easy one the eye (I can't believe I just said that!) than deMarigny!

Not sure how Mr Crow would react if on landing in a dense forest, he then explored and found he was in reality surrounded by cardboard trees in the middle of a wobbly set in White City TV studios.

I dunno - I could see Titus in a giant scarf, or even in cricket whites... But not in a stove-pipe hat (though whistling on a recorder...!

Well, yes the Doctor never crashed his phone booth into a planet, but then again Titus Crow is only on his second body

Once the technology is up and running to create credible synth-actors, whereby deceased actors of yester-year digitally appear in new films, I reckon the 3rd Dr, Jon Pertwee, would make a fine Crow, with de Marigny played by Pat Troughton, the 2nd Dr.
