I sold a very unique book about 15 years ago. It was an oversized, hardback, yellow, smooth covered book. It had no dust jacket. House of Cthulhu and Other Tales of the Primal Land. I have regretted it since that day. Very beautifully illustrated. I do not believe it ever had a dust jacket, so it is not the one I commonly see, and have bought, that is available on sites. I have contacted everyone I could to try to track it down, including Silky and Jim Pitts. I was sold thru ebay and they have no records of sales after so many years. If anyone has any knowledge of where I might find this book it would be very, very much appreciated.

Got all the Primal land collections and I am geeked! I'm trying to read slowly and savor every last bit. I always loved the whole Crow saga and this is adding some serious flavor. Learning about Exior is so great. Everywhere I looked before I found this place was out of print and long gone. The books I found on Amazon were brand spanking new aside from the one from the Staten Island Public Library (which is pretty cool if I do say so myself) and hella cheap.

That is allowing me to drop some more serious coin on a purchase from your (our?) very own Nathan; The Compleat Crow. It's going to be the most I've spent on a book outside of school texts in my youngish life. I got a good deal and homey is getting some cash for whatever vice(s) he pursues outside of reading.

I think it would be fair to say I am more well read than the average Yank and it's been a while since I've been to the dictionary this many times this quick into the book. It was scupper that got me first. I'm not sure if it's the pond or the time in which it was written, as most of these were penned either before I was born or before I could read.

I am very excited if you hadn't noticed, but it's with a slight touch of sadness (which makes it all that much more visceral and enjoyable) because I don't think anymore Titus or Primal stuff is in the works so there is a very finite amount of content left that is still new to this Crow.

PS this site is great. I've never been able to talk about Harry & Co. in anything more than abstract until now. I'm not even what the proper exclamation to use would be at this point. Thinking Hooray, but maybe I should go a little less cheery in light of the great majority of the subject matter found in these books... any suggestions?

this was some serious rambling

Right, had an idea kids and kidettes, not sure if it will work but I’ve run it past Tops and he reckons it’s good so I’m going to give it a try anyway.

The basic premise of this is that someone will come up with a topic or question and give their view on it and you lot basically throw in your views/arguments for and against backing them up with facts and points from the books and views in general.

The question must be something taken from the worlds of our beloved Mr Lumley, but it can come from any of his books or short stories.

The winner of the Debate is the person who can come up with the best explanation of their view on the subject citing reasons evidence etc that the most people agree with.

Obviously we’ll need someone to judge on this so myself and Tops will decide who, based on their argument, is the Master Debater, Then that person will have to come up with a question to be debated and so on and so forth.

At the start of each question the person does not have to give their views straight away and can wait till later on to throw their views and reasons into the melting pot.

I’m hoping that this will become quite a hot bed of conversation and arguments, it may not though and might just shrivel and die but nothing would ever happen if we didn’t give things I try.

So who is the Master Debater???…Only time will tell!!!

Right, well I think I should stick in the first question, it’s a bit of an oldie but I know plenty of people have differing views on it so it should be a good one to start with and get the proverbial ball rolling so to speak.

The Wamphyri leech is it really EVIL???

Greetings.

I just started reading Titus Crow Vol.1, The Burrowers Beneath. It's a tad difficult for me to follow what with all the reference to other books and tomes, and other Great Old Ones and Cthulhuian Bretheren. I almost feel like I've missed something... Kind of like I've started reading in the middle of a story, and I should definately know more of what's going on. Is this book a good place to start?

By the way...I've not even read any HPL! I know, I know. Blasphemy! But I had these book sitting unopened for too long, and they were beckoning me. I'd greatly appreciate any direction any of you more knowledgeable folk might have to offer.

# The Night Sea-Maid Went Down

# Name and Number

# Recognition

# Curse of the Golden Guaradians

# Aunt Hester

# The Kiss of Bugg-Shash

# De Marigny's Clock

# Mylakhrion the Immortal

# The Sister City

# What Dark God?

# The Statement of Henry Worthy

# Dagon's Bell

# The Thing from the Blasted Heath

# Dylath Leen

# The Mirror of Nitocris

Just finished re-reading Khai of Khem, what a masterpiece it is too.Its been a few years since I read it last and I'd forgotten just how good it is.Brians writing skills and imagination are clear to be seen in this book.Without ruining it for anyone who hasn't read it the section where Khais family are held captive is one of the most intense pieces I have ever read.Truly amazing.

How great would it be to see this made into a movie also.It has all the ingredients to be a blockbuster....

Although considering how long Necroscope is taking maybe not,and anyway they'll probably cast old Harrison Ford as Khai.

Now I'm ready for Harry and the Pirates,I started Khai to keep myself sane while waiting for it to be delivered.

Silky has recently confirmed that though Brian will no longer be writing novels, he hasn't retired completely and will still be writing short stories.

So which short stories would you like to see more of? The Dreamland series had quite a few great little stories in it, also the Primal Lands - that had some of my favourites. Not forgetting Titus Crow and his many short adventures. Would you like to see more of the old and familiar, or maybe something totally new?

Personally, I think there's scope for a lot more in the Primal Lands. I think there's room for more in each of them actually but I would most like to read more about wizzards, Llamia and strange old Gods/Goddesses who sometimes do come to the aid of those who trully believe.

Having said that, I'm sure I'd enjoy any offering from the Lumley pen!

I am not new to Brian Lumley's works and have a fairly full collection. The problem is that I prefer mass market paperback for his novels, and trade paperback or mass market paperback for short story collections. I really do prefer MM paperback over trade paperbacks and never got into hardcover books.

I am just wondering if there is a reliable source to find out when and if any of his recent works will be in MM paperback.

I am looking for a date for:

Haggopian and Other Stories

The Taint And Other Novella

The Primal Lands Series (I know that they already are MM but I would be willing to wait until the are re-released in MM paperback, if at all)

Any future books that he releases...

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

A Voice in the Night is probably William Hope Hodgson's best horror tale. In both tales you have an older male character plagued with a condition that is virtually identical in both stories. In both you have the spouse of this older gentleman afflicted worse by the condition. Both tales also have a sympathetic visitor (ok 'Voice' had two, but you get the idea...). Both stories have similar endings (the horror comes from the fact that the suffering is not yet over). I suspect that one tale may have 'inspired' the other but both are very good...

Lumlian Knowledge 2007
