  1. Started by Goth Girl,

...on the Necroscope page, from the home page, it states that KeoghCon 5 is Saturday 25th September; however when you actually go to the KC5 page, it says that it is Saturday 24th September, which is the correct date!

I just upgraded the MessageBoard to the latest version. If you have any trouble with any of the features or aspects of this latest incarnation, email me or post them here.

  3. Started by ShadoeWolfe,

After many years of people respecting this site and a time honored tradition of signing the guestbook, it looks like we may be removing it in the near future from our site. This is due to spamming we have been receiving from one certain individual and some other garbage sites. I am tired of having to weed out the trash every few days from the signature list. If it continues - the only way to leave your comments will be through this MessageBoard, which will require your valid ISP email address - no free web-based addresses. And my policy of reviewing each new member and allowing some hotmail and yahoo addresses through will ceases - if I see hotmail or yahoo on the end…

Hey there everyone - I finally got the KeoghCon 3 pics up on the site! Here is the link: http://www.brianlumley.com/cons/kc3pics.html I hope you all enjoy the memories. I resized them all smaller so that the file size wouldn't be too big and they would load easy even on a dial-up. I also have the main page all thumbnails to load quickly. Let me know of any problems.

Brian's hour-long reading of The Second Wish is now online at the video page of the site and the Interview of Brian by Doug Winter is being uploaded as I type this. If you have a few hours to kill - and time to download the large files - swing by the video section of the site. Or, if you prefer better quality and don't want to waste time with downloading, DVD's of the Readings and Interview will be available in the Store soon. If you are interested, please contact me ASAP. I hope you all enjoy!

Brian's reading of The Viaduct is now on the site in the Media section in Windows Media format. It is a large file, but well worth the download. Running just over 35 minutes long, it comes in at 26 MB, but it is a nice resolution. I did encode the file in Real format, but the quality is just not there. The video is shaky and the audio is muddled. I do believe Windows Media will be the standard for the site from now on unless I find something better. Let me know if you have downloaded it and what you think. Thanks!

Times change and we here try to change with them. There are now two ways to access this MessageBoard. Basic Membership which is FREE and Elite Membership which is $10 a year. The Basic membership is limited to reading and posting in only a few of the Book-based forums and your posts must stay on topic. You won't have access to Necroscope News, avatars, private messages, polls, or private forums, but the cost is nothing. That's right. There is no fee at all for the Basic Membership. However, you must stay on-topic in your posting. If you go off-topic (OT): 1st time: Post is removed and you are warned. 2nd time: Post is removed and you are suspended for one we…

Whoever the individual is who is ending me all of the emails infected with viruses - please stop. My virus software is grabbing all of them and so is my spam software. Your efforts are pointless other than to annoy me. On that note, you are doing a fine job. [ August 20, 2003, 05:59 AM: Message edited by: ShadoeWolfe ]

Well, everything seemed to go fairly smooth, considering we moved over 100 megs of data in a short period of time. The site should be back to working conditions as I have put all of the file and folder permissions back to what they were on the old server. I have checked the Gustbook and the poll scripts, and they seem to be in working order, as does the MessageBoard now. If anyone has any trouble with any part of the site - just mail me at shadoe@brianlumley.com with as much detail of the problem as you can give and we'll try to get it fixed ASAP. Thanks again for everyone waiting through the downtime and now we should be good to go!! [ August 15, 20…

I now have both the top and the side menu in one javascript file and they are both now DHTML menus. The top looks just like it did, but it should load much faster. If anyone experiences any sorts of difficulty with the menus, please drop me a line to let me know. Thanks.

  12. Well, we had enough interest, so we decided to go ahead and start taking orders officially for the T-Shirts again. They will be done in Large and X-Large so that we won't have too many people swimming in them if they don't want to. Unfortunately, only those two sizes will be done, but hopefully you all fit in there somewhere size-wise. I will be taking orders only by payment. Once your order has been paid for, your shirt will be printed and sent to you. I will be doing the prints in batches, so the sooner you get your order in, the sooner I can have a batch to go to the printers. There will be a time delay of a couple weeks, but this is to ensure that I do not ge…

Not so much related to the site, but those of us with brianlumley.com email addresses know what I'm talking about. SPAM has become a huge problem and I thought it was just us...well - I guess I was wrong. SPAMmers are killing the internet for all of us... We're losing the war on SPAM Why can't this be solved and quickly? Myself, I average over 60 junk emails a day to my bl.com account alone....

For those of you who might have been having trouble printing off the crossword puzzle from the current issue of the Newsletter, I think I have a solution for you. I saved the image into a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file and now it should all fit onto one page that is readable and usable. Just go back into the newsletter and click on the image and that will take you to the correct file - or open it up in your browser to print from there. Hope this fixes everyone's problem if they were having it.

Shadoe.. what would be the chance of possibly putting 'stickies' or whatever way this board uses for topics that people can always see? For instance.. the Lumlian 'Wants' List.. took me forever to try and find it! Not only the topic.. but where it was in the first place! I would guess that most people when they register do as I do and have their preferences show certain amount of days. Sure I can do what I did this am and do a search (but doesn't work as I was looking for Wish instead of Want..lol), or go to every area and 'show all topics', but it might be a good idea to be able to keep on top topics that are a big interest to members... like the 'Wants' list or '…

I was a bit bored today and decided to play with the site's skull to give it more of a goldish look as opposed to teh flatt yellow it had... What do you all think? And don't hold your tongue if you don't like - you won't offend me. If enough people like it we will keep it - if not - well then...

Hey there everybody! New for 2003, I finally have the video up from Brian reading a couple of his short stories at the World Fantasy Convention in Minneapolis in October of 2002. Be sure to swing by the Real Video page and check it out! I have it available in Real format for streaming and download, as well as Windows media format. Hope you all enjoy!

In case you didn't see the front cover of the site - go there now. There is a certain book that is available now that you all might be interested in. That's right, the Brian Lumley Companion is now on store shelves!! Grab it now and add the definitive book to your collection.

Hope the color scheme doesn't upset anyone. I just felt it needed to be done. In a small way hopefully it can make the memory of the day a little brighter. Things will be back to normal tomorrow.... unless you guys really like this scheme.

This was brought to my attention by Tops - thanks go to him for pointing this out. If you work on a networked computer, or you share your terminal with anyone else, it is recommended that you log out after each session. This will clear your cookies on the machine you are using. If you are only logging in from home or on a non-networked system, you don't need to worry about this.

I've had a couple of emails asking about this, so I will post the answers here for all to read, in case anyone else has the same question. Regarding your personal information required when you pay for your membership: Your information will be given out to no one unless there is a problem that cannot be resolved. At the most, there will be three people that have it - myself, Brian and Silky. This information is to be used only in case of problems and to make sure you are who you say you are. We want the other board members here to feel safe and secure in their postings and dealings with each other. I hope everyone understands that it will not be given out on the Bo…

    Started by Guest ShadoeWolfe,

Need to do some house cleaning around here after a couple of years. If you have registered for membership with the board and have never posted a message - I need to ask why? I honestly am curious because you don't need to be a member to read the board, only to post. In another preparation for the upgrade to the new version of the messageboard software, I will be removing memberships of those people that have zero posts and are more than 6 months past when they registered. This will be done on the first of March or so, giving people a week or so to get a post in, or e-mail me as to why they haven't posted. I know that some members might have forgotten their p…

  25. Started by perky,

It had been a while since I've checked the board regularly, I've made a post or 2 lately, but mainly I've been sitting back and watching what's been going on lately. I want to thank Mr. Lumley and Shadoe for cleaning the board up, I think that was the main reason I stayed away from it for so long, too much garbage being posted. Some of us really do appreciate all the work you guys put into the site, and appreciate all the info we are given access to here. And the message board itself has been a great place to learn all about other fans of Mr. Lumley. I don't think the cleaning up will take any of that away from us. It's a great community that has been formed her…
