Hello! I got my daughter addicted to the series and she has read a lot farther than I have. We are in need of finding books 15 and 16. I don't understand why they are not available and if you find a seller they want between $100-250! My daughter is 15 and there is no way I can afford that! Does anyone know of off beaten path places to find them without a hefty price tag?. Thank you! Angel

I sold a very unique book about 15 years ago. It was an oversized, hardback, yellow, smooth covered book. It had no dust jacket. House of Cthulhu and Other Tales of the Primal Land. I have regretted it since that day. Very beautifully illustrated. I do not believe it ever had a dust jacket, so it is not the one I commonly see, and have bought, that is available on sites. I have contacted everyone I could to try to track it down, including Silky and Jim Pitts. I was sold thru ebay and they have no records of sales after so many years. If anyone has any knowledge of where I might find this book it would be very, very much appreciated.

I read the original five books years ago. I've been buying up all the other books recently (just need Plague-Bearer, Mobius Murders and Pirates). Before I start reading them all, in which order would you recommend? I see that Lost Years Vol.1 and Vol. 2 were released after Blood Wars, but someone said they take place between Vamphyri and The Source. I saw an older thread that someone replied with a link, but I can't get that link to work. Bonus question: Are the three books I have left to buy worth getting? Thanks! Kyle

There are several sad moments in these books but I find the most depressing book was no. 5. I was particularly sad when Harry was going to try and reach out with his deadspeak to Brenda but decided against it. For me it was sad because it almost seemed like Harry had somehow managed to forget his childhood sweetheart. Then of course his meeting with the Dweller who had become a wolf where Harry started to cry. Bought a tear to my eye.

One of the things I like about Brian Lumley's Wamphyri are the complexity of his creatures- these aren't clichéd Dracula-style imitations or Twilight/Buffy cardboard cut-outs. The Wamphyri are often the most memorable and interesting characters in the books. As part of this, the little details are important. One of the things that fascinates me is the Wamphyri appreciation of music. They do, of course, possess enhanced hearing. We see this most clearly in the Vampire World trilogy, where the dog-lord Canker Canison becomes fascinated by a Szgany flute and asks Nestor to teach him 'the tune'- before he builds his own gigantic instrument out of bones. When discussing Ca…

Silky just announced that Plague Bearer will be released as an audio book in MP3 format. Audible, Amazon, and iTunes. Most exciting! I can't wait to get it. This, of course, ushers in the inevitable Question....will any of the other books get the audio treatment? I hope so!

  9. Hello, just wanted to say greetings and post my first thread here =) I would like to get thoughts from the members here on who they believe to be the strongest Wamphyri that has ever lived! These are my top three choices. #1 Shaitan #2 Eygor Killglance #3 Shaithis I am not including the Dweller or Harry in the choices(even though it could be argued that the Dweller should be included) and only using wamphryi outside Harry family line. I look foward to any replies to this thread,,,I do like this site

Alright heres a matter of personal tastes. Who is your favorite Necroscope, Harry, Nathan, Or Jake. Personally for me its Jake. I love the character of Harry. He is amazingly well written and you feel for him at every point. His transformation in deadspeak and deadspawn was tremendous. Jake still stands out for me. It may be that since I read the e-branch trilogy first he holds a special place in my heart, but I think I identify with him more than Harry. Not to mention the scenes in invaders where he relives his "crimes" are amazing. So now the question is, Who is your Favorite of theese three?

Just curious to see which human, not Wamphyri character, everybody loves to hate? My personal choice was Theo Dolgikh - who said that humans can't be as evil as the Wamphyri!

Let`s compare the two greatest vampire ladies: -Who would win in physical fight? -Who is hotter to you? -Who is greater Vamphyri? -What would happen if Wratha`s band escaped from Turgosheim while Karen was still living in her tower? Edited: I have finished Bloodwars and Devetaki seemed to be greater than Wratha, she didn't let her lust and anger get in her way. [ August 09, 2005, 01:58 PM: Message edited by: Lord Melkor ]

re posted in the right place Look I know the story couldnt be with out Nestor becomming Whamphyri and Nathan was the ABSOLUTLY right choice to become the Necroscope..... BUT, I couldnt help feeling several times through the vamp world series, that Nestor could have been better than Harry Snr, Harry Jnr and Nathan, I cant say y, its just a feeling I continously got.... What do u think?

  15. Started by Malinari,

After reading a topic from a while ago it seemed evryone wanted to know more about Harry's son, The Dweller, I do too  . So I was just wondering if anyone knows of people who had made a story of the dweller in starside and put it on a website or something. I know its pointless reading one but it would keep me occupied and keep the people who make it occupied. Obviously you'd have to ask Brian if he'd let you, but I can't see why he'd disagree with it... I even have the perfect beginning for the prologue: "The Dweller or Harry jnr as he was known in another distant world awoke screaming in his dark grave feeling his mind being literally split in two, temporar…

  16. Started by Lord Melkor,

I have just read the Source, and it seems like Vampires not created from Eggs can rebel against their Masters, while from reading Book 2: Wamphyri I had an impression that they are slaves to their creators. But I assume that their Vampire powers can`t match those of true Lords? But they are also trully immortal? Another problem: Julian Bodescu had great powers, while not being egg-son of Tibor, so half-Vampires are very powerful, am I right?

I had some free time so I wanted to post an idea that might get some activity going on the site. It might be fun if we posted Wamphyri Duels" For example lets say that Lesk the Glut vs Menor Maimbite would fight,,,who would win in in this fight to the death?Everyone who would play would pick the winner .The winner would simply be who gets the most votes,,,I would think 10 different votes would be needed to make this interesting. It could be done 1 of 2 ways. The first,,,Have a starting list with all the wamphyri ,I would imagine we could get at least 50 wamphyri if not more,,and at random have them fight to the death,,,it would be one on one..with the loser…

This has probably been asked round these parts before, but...given the choice, would you prefer to have the powers of the Necroscope...or be Wamphyri!? Of course it would be cool to communicate with the dead and learn from them and such, and the use of mobius doors would be a blast, but there is something just so alluring about the power and longevity of being Wamphyri. The only trade-back I can think of would be that you would slowly lose yourself to the leech. Thoughts?

I seem to remember that Mr Lumley is not a fan of e-books; and at present there are no Necroscope novels (or indeed any Lumley novels) available for Amazon Kindle, which I think is a shame as IMO it's a fantastic way to read and take hundreds of books with you where ever you go - I'm loving my new Kindle! Does anyone know what Mr Lumley's particular aversion to the e-book format is? It is very hard to pirate Amazon's file type and I would think that having his books available on kindle would only help the sales of his fantastic novels - I for one would love to have his library on kindle to take with me to work, on holiday etc. would be great!

  22. Started by ChrisE,

I have just started reading Bloodwars and have a question. I'm not sure if this was explained earlier and I missed it or if it will be explained later. Why can Nathan use the mobius continuum on earth and starside/sunside but Harry Sr. could only use it on earth?

  23. Amazon UK only has 2 Marketplace sellers currently selling The Plague Bearer and both of them want at least £30 for it. Play.com has no results and eBay only finds books listed in America. Can anyone assist please? (Is the book even released in the UK?) Thanks!

Hey everybody, been a member here for awhile but havent used the site much. Also an avid reader of all things Lumley. Anyway, this has most probably been remarked upon before, but i noticed a reference to something id seen on this board today while reading Invaders. When Lardis is first telling Jake about Sunside/Starside he says about the Lady Vavara, " For see, even as i speak that name-Vavaaara-so i shudder." Just thought it was amusing considering Silky's profile. It seemed to me sort of an in-joke if you will if you happen to use this site.

http://io9.com/5702020/finally-the-x+files-is-getting-the-sexified-teen-dramatization-it-deserves Seriously, it seem like we all need to band up and blast the crud out of someone to get Necroscope pushed either as a series, or a movie trilogy, before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and Hollywood looks at it like "Meh, another vampire/Underworld/X-files/Supernatural spin-off attempt *shrug*. Not interested."
