I'm hearing that our favorite author, Brian Lumley, is being written about in the new Entertainment Weekly magazine. Here is my source: http://www.wgal.com/entertainment/20258515/detail.html?treets=lan&tid=2651698608813&tml=lan_ent&tmi=lan_ent_1_12150108032009&ts=H In effect what is says is that Lumley is compared to Bram Stoker since he hasn't pussified vampires. Its a pretty good article and I think that I'm going to go out an buy the new edition.

For those of you wanting a true first edition of Necroscope, don't do it from this link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72305&item=6926383600&rd=1 This is not a true first like it states. Some of you will know about the silly voodoo skull cover by Alan Hood, which came out just before the George Underwood cover. Be warned, don't buy it, the seller is lying, or doesn't have a clue. Cheers, Tops

Ive just read this on the yahoo website news... "A town of 10,000 people in north west China has been sealed off from the outside world after an outbreak of deadly pneumonic plague. The town of Ziketan in Qinghai Province has been quarantined after a dozen people were infected with the highly contagious lung disease. The outbreak has already claimed two lives. A herdsman died from the disease on Friday and his neighbour died on Sunday." makes you think doesnt it...what else is he predicting?!?!? lol

What always confused me was how did Shaitan win against so many lords and ladies.... The Lords and ladies present of course... Nonari Ferenczy Radu Lykan Karl and Egon Drakul Hengor Hagi Klaus Lankari Thereza Lugosi Shaithar Shaitanson and his sons Turgo Toothbreaker Zol Zolteson Possibly even Thador Thornskull Tori Trogson These two being the grandchildren to Turgo Zolte... Now I know that Shaitan had many sons and daughters but its said even the closest relationship between Wamphyri are not even considered close... So How did all these lords get defeated? And which groups of Wamphyri finallly kicked Shaitan out?

This thread is continued from the newcomers part of the forum. The following are quotes from the aforementioned thread: Dark Cyder: "I love the fact that Wamphyri history is somewhat cloudy. It lends a validity to the stories that it is not all cut and dried. What we refer to as fact is often ambiguous so why shouldn't fantasy be the same. Much of what Radu learns about the Ferenczys is equivocal: garnered from tortured Berbers and a dying Drakul amongst other dubious sources. It is chinese whispers. The one sure thing we can take from him is that Radu and Nonari came through the gate together, probably in 371AD. He was there after all. I'm less likely …

G'day, Silky has stated that there is to be a re-release of 4 of the Necroscope books and that they are available for pre-order on Amazon, however I have had no luck at all in finding the page to pre-order the books. Can someone please provide me with a link? I'm desperate to get my hands on this edition. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've read and enjoyed all the Necroscope series in order till I finished Vampire World 2...but have been stopped in my tracks from finishing the trilogy as I can't get a copy of Bloodwars anywhere! I placed an order with Play.com but that was last year and there was still no sign of it after waiting for months so I canceled the order. I tried going to Waterstones and they didn't have it. When I looked on Play.com pre-owned and Amazon they were trying to sell it for over £40! No luck with ebay either. I have since ordered it from Waterstones website but it says they are waiting to receive it on special order but that was months ago! Just what is going on?! Why sh…

I personally don't like the idea of the Wamphyri being so damn unstoppable while the humans are so weak and pathetic. Really, beside the leprosy, the Wamphyri have to have some sort of pay-back for their powers. I know the leech is supposed to remove their conscious and regret, but that is hardly something most people would miss. Also, I fall under the belief that something which does not die or have been built cannot possible have been alive or be destroyed. Argue all you want, but to me the wamphyri are most definately alive and kicking. Are the wampyri as immortal as they say to be or do they just have extremely ridiculous life spans that can stretch for millenia?

Before Henry and his son traveled to Starside, the Wamphyri had the place totally under their power. How long could this have gone if Henry had not discovered the place? Reading the third book and various other sources, I am more than aware of the evil and depravity the Wamphyri are capable of doing. But I also learned that there is a limit people can accept such cruelty. Would the world stay the same as it was or would there be some kind of rebellion to combat the Wamphyri lords and ladies. Personally, in my opinion, nothing lasts forever. Even the Wamphyri rule were to last thousands of years, there has to be a time where it has to stop or at least decrease. (maybe the …

I've just re-read Old Man with a Blade for the third time and I still can't believe how good it is. I remember the first time reading Necroscope and getting a shiver because it was so good,so different and while I love every twist, turn, character and place in Necroscope, this short piece stands out.To read about Death himself and his thoughts on Harrys future is mind-blowing,I know you might say thats very dramatic but in my opinion its just, beautiful, for want of a better word. Just when I thought I'd read it all, along comes Old Man,Thank You Brian. Please keep us shivering.

hey all! I've been a Lumley fan for the past 20 years! (well, not if you count my 10 year break, but that's a whole 'nother story) . I'm rereading the necroscope after about 10 years, (at least!) and if you'd like to follow along, the link is http://www.bluesbookcase.blogspot.com. I've read all of them up to defilers, i think. (the 1st book of the avengers trilogy) Lumley has really shaped me as a reader, and i look forward to re-discovering his world. Thanks, B.

During the panel at KeoghCon 2, I made the remark that the Wamphyri leech was evil. Some people disagreed with me, which is ok, we all have our own theories and thoughts on the subject. I am curious to see what the thoughts of those who couldn't be there, and those who were, on this subject. I came to the conclusion the leech was evil by looking at what qualities it took and amplified in its host and what it removed. It encouraged the violent tendacies and behaviors and it destroyed or squashed the concience of the host, so much so that something unthinkable when the host was human is considered brag worthy as Wamphyri. Any comments???

Ok first of all a thank you to all who replied to my "Gday" post and helped with straightening out the UK vs US book differences, you were a great help in my deciding to buy a batch of 13 books from ebay. Hi all, I’ve just finished reading The Touch and want more Necroscope! I’ve read all the other books and have recently found out there were comics based on the novels. I was just wondering whether people thought these were worth reading and if so, any recommendations on where to pick them up as I’m in the UK and have difficulty getting my hands on some of Brians other books (mainly the Vampire Trilogy). May seem a silly question to ask on a Brian Lumley forum but I figure that you will all know best. I’ve started reading the Titus Crow series (am currently on the first one – Burrowers Underneath) though am finding it a little more difficult to get into. …

Hey I have been thinking about something for some time and I wasn't sure if I should bother starting a thread or not. In the books we know that humans travel from earth to starside/sunside (either of their own free will or vica versa ). And many of the ones that have gone through (mainly those who eventually become thralls) are either civillians or military. So, my thoughts as we know some of the wamphyri express their thoughts about (mainly the men from the hell-lands with military background) of how excellent thralls they would make. I wonder how it would be if some other human like perhaps Mike Tyson or some other person (fighter or just big brute) were t…

I'm reading them for the second time and unbelievably I still have trouble putting them down. One thing that I have noticed reading them a second time is that everything seems to happen so quickly. The novels seem almost to finish too quickly which definitely wasn't my thought the first time around.
