Necroscope Saga

Discuss the books, characters, etc. comprising Brian Lumley's master work.

  1. Started by Exsanguinator,

When you re-read through the Necroscope Saga (as I know you do) in what order do you read them? Do you go through them in the recommended order (as they were released), or now you know the plots do you read them in a roughly chronological order slipping The Lost Years in between Wamphyri! and The Source?

  2. Started by Alex,

I haven't seen the topic up anywhere; and everyone seems to have discussed the talents section, the baddest Wamphyri etc... So how about, what ESP skills and the like would create the ultimate Wamphyri. Any ones, except keep it down to about 3 ish or else it would be overkill. Mine would have to be strong telepathy (like Lady Wratha, but not as strong as Lord Malinari), metamorphism (like Lord Szwart) and the killing eye (like Lord Spiro). Though in the case of the last one there would be overkill!

I have a website I put up (still under construction) with quotes and exceprts from the Necroscope books. I don't want to do anything I'm not allowed to so can someone tell me if I need to include copyright info or something else to make sure I'm legit? I am perfectly willing to take thee site down if necessary, but I'd like to help "spread the word" about Brian Lumley's Necroscope books. The url is: http://members.wri.com/jeffb/necroscope/ Thanks

  5. Started by Heath Fodor,

Finished Necroscope and am onto the second book. I am interested to see how the background story is developed. I have the Source too, but none of the other books. I have had some trouble finding the books in my area of Michigan (Jackson). I guess it shows you how popular they are I loved the way Brian is able to weave all the threads together to make a total package. Much more satisfying fare than I usually read. Heath

  6. Started by Hubris,

Does anyone know where I could find a complete(or partial for that matter)set of the Necroscope Art Series by Paul Stanczykowski? What exactly were these? And does anyone know if they'll ever be available again? Or know where I could find more of Paul's work? I really enjoyed what I got to see of on this site. Much thanks if you can help. Alright, I got a question/quiz for all of the necro freaks out there... I've made a map for D&D based on necroscope saga about starside/sunside. But with my D&D Group and my daughter I dont have time to re-read all of the book to find the names. I just want the Lords and Ladies though. My Task for all of you is find as many names of the Wamphyri... ALL THE CREDIT GOES TO *BRIAN LUMLEY* For His Great Books. I've gotten 3/6 members of my gruop to start reading his books.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. But Mobius, The games company in leeds that were ( For a while ) working on the Necroscope game, has been bought out buy the company that made Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Im not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for the game that has, as far as I am awair been on hold for well over a year anyway. Plus they were bought out for there GameBoy game capabilities only so they may not make anything but Gameboy games now, It's been a while since I talked to any of them there (it wasn't the best "parting" in the world) so there may be facts I don't know of.

Ok - for all of you out there that think you know each and every Necroscope to ever grace this or any other planet... name them. And before you rattle off the known ones - there are a few you might have forgotten about. That is the only hint you will receive... A prize for all correct? Well - you'll have the self gratification that you knew them! ;P

I've noticed recently that maybe a few people are ripping off are beloved Necroscope, can't be sure but 2 T.V. programs have recently come to my attention (DeadZone/Haunted)where the principal guy in both shows talks to the dead,he's the only one that can and then in both shows they both go off and avenge the poor departed souls. Saying that though I've never actualy watched either show on the pricipal that in the write ups and the T.V. ads both shows have a striking similarity to Necroscope so I refuse to have any truck with them. Has anyone else seen or heard of these shows and do you think that there a rip-off of Harry Keogh Necroscope or am I not delveing deep enoug…

I don't know if this has been done before, but in reading the Necroscope series, I have come up with some questions. 1) Nathan couldn't speak with Harry, because he went off into a million gold darts throughout time and space. But why couldn't/didn't he talk to Harry Jr, the Dweller? 2) Who is Helen? I always thought that Brenda was Harry's first, and yet this girl Helen is mentioned later on. I'm sure I'm not the only one, what else have you all noticed??

Hi All Newbie just jumped through the gate and it's nice to be here ! I have a few questions about Lost Years Volume 1 (that's where I am in this great saga) here they are: 1. Does anyone know where I can get hold of The Lost Years Volume 1 (UK). I have been told that it is out of print and the closest I have got is a hardback version (I'd prefer paperback) for.. get this £85 ! 2. Are there any plans to reissue the book 3. Which brings me to question 3. I can get hold of the US version. Can anyone tell me what (if any) the difference is between the UK & US versions ? Thanks in advance. The books are great and I really want to continue the s…

am i just a little slow in the head or did there used to be a place on here that said a couple of different bands that had written music about the nec series. scratch that, I know there was, but I'm not finding it now. I actually went and bought one of the cd's. The epoch of unlight: what will be has been not a bad cd. basically I was wondering if anyone knew of any other music based on any of Lumly's works if you do please post here, or e-mail me MeierxLink@yahoo.com any and all info will be greatly appreciated jogonza

I've got two to points really both mistakes in the books I'm afraid, well I think there mistakes and would gladly accept an explanation as long as it's a good one. 1:In Deadspeak when Harry is near the top of the mountain and Janos's mountain lair he comunicates with Bodrok the resurected thracian warrior using the medium of deadspeak but in Deadspawn he tests paddy the dog with deadspeak after he resurects him but get's no result because paddy's alive,is this Brian breaking a rule in without realising it or is there an explanation I've overlooked. 2:This one's not so bad in Necroscope 1 Gormley's nephew shows up outside the train station as max badu zaps Gormley …

  21. For those of you who have gotten the chance to read the new Necro book - which of the 3 new stories did you like the most? Resurrection tops my list as most gruesome - pure classic Lumley writing - Disturbing and sentimental at teh same time. Dead Eddy was a fun read, with that lovely twist at the end. Dinosaur Dreams.... well - what can be said other than wow - the dead really will do anything for Harry - all sorts of dead things... How about the rest of you? What are your thoughts? 22. Hi everybody, I used contribute as AndyB. I'm sorry but the latest installment has left me numb. Let me explain, I have read the Titus Crow stories in Compleat Crow and other books (by the way I think they are excellent stories). The Hero stories are also great, here is my gripe (for want of a better word). I feel short changed with this latest offering - I feel Brian is being cajolled by the "Fans" which I feel has made him produce an inferior collection, I hope I'm not coming across to harsh because I am a big fan of Brian's work, but I would love to have read a book of completely new work by the master. Regards
