For those of you who haven't read the Daily Mail today: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1210113/Jaycee-Lee-Dugard-kidnapper-linked-murders-prostitutes-girl-15.html Look at the last photo in this article and read the info under it. You might want to buy one of these papers for posterity...

I've seen a query about this so here's the answer... Brian isn't tired of writing per-se. He's now 71 and wants to enjoy life. He'll still be writing the occasional novella or short story when the need arises. Brian can never really "retire" as such ... the little man in his head won't leave him alone. He has on occasion also had ideas for a novel ... but novels, I'm afraid, are over. Brian's novels take a year to write and he doesn't want to spend that much time behind his desk anymore. Hey folks ... I remember we couldn't even go on holiday and enjoy it because he'd be antsy to get back home because the novel was "calling." Even when we went into town in…

People, if you haven’t checked it out already, take a look at what Steve Jones has lined up for the 2010 World Horror Convention in Brighton, March 25-28. (See below this post.) And even if you can’t get a room at the con hotel (because they are going fast) there are plenty of hotels right there on the seafront – in fact right next door – or a brisk two minute stagger away from the bar. There are also plenty of B&Bs. But there won’t be any cheap one-day walk-ins, so if you’re going to be there get registered! Loads of people you know will be there! The Eggletons, Koszowskis … even the most excellent Paul Ganley and his brand new wife! A whole slew of writers, publ…

Brian has told everyone that every now and again he would have a rant. When Brian has a rant I shall have one too. When a post appears I'll title it Brian's Rant. All our past columnists are welcome to join in with their comments as well. Sort of a mini-NL every now and again. Note: Although he calls it a rant it will have information just like the old NL did. By doing this every now and again past columnists ... if they want to contribute ... won't feel obligated to have to do anything and if they do it can be at their own pace and in their own time.

Just a heads up to any of you who are planning a trip to the States. In addition to the green visa waiver form you have to fill out you will need to complete a form for the ESTA Program (Electronic System for Travel Authorization). Although there is no guarantee that you can get into the States (it's always been that way) you definitely won't get in unless you have this ESTA approval. It's easy to do. I did it for Brian and got approved almost immediately. Your authorization comes up right in your browser and you receive an email. However, I would print off a couple copies of it while everything is showing in your browser in case the email doesn't show up ... it w…

You will note that I have moved the WHC thread from The Retreat to this Forum. Some necessary information for the WHC. Note From Brian: Although we will be glad to see any of the KeoghCon Crew at this con … you must keep in mind that this is a World Horror Convention and not a KeoghCon. Although the membership list is small at the moment … there will be lots of authors, editors and publishers coming over from the States for the con. Attendance is usually 600 to 700 people on average. There are only 186 rooms in the hotel. To be fair to the regular con goers … you will need to pay the attendance fee of £50.00 per person. Your adherence to this would be much ap…

Hi, All. I now have a mini-site which I designed mainly for myself. No, in no way is .com being replaced ... ever. As long as Shadoe wants to do the site that baby is his. Permanently as far as I'm concerned. I just had the opportunity to buy up the next best thing from .com which is .net. Which I understand is becoming just as popular as .com. When Shadoe gets a chance he's going to put a link on .com which will say Silky's Site. He'll be moving the Necroscope Convention into one of the side bar links. http://www.brianlumley.net Yee Haw.

Okay, I've got a digi box (in fact I have several but I don't use them all at once) ... and I have a dvd player/recorder that has freeview. 1. Yes, it has the tick for digital... 2. Yes, I have a good signal and I've had the machines in use for over a year. The problem is with the EPG loading up. Everything was fine up until yesterday. The EPG is loading up all the channels but Sky 3 and Sky News. I can watch these two channels and I can direct record from them but they are not appearing in the EPG. Any ideas? Anyone else having this problem? If it was just one digi box then I figure it would be the box but two separate entities ... and I doubt it …

Hello, all. Well, in order to try and rectify a problem that has been pointed out to me ... I had to join My Space. So if any of you out there are My Space members ... drop me a PM with your name and I'll send you a friend invite ... or I think I will ... if you give me the info I need. Haven't done one yet so I'll keep my fingers crossed ... and double crossed. And, naturally, my id is necrotec. It's been suggested I put my link up to make it easy to find me. So here it is: http://www.myspace.com/413835627

Here's the link for this: http://www.geisterspiegel.de The answers are in German and English but here are the questions in English: 1. What three adjectives would you use to describe your profession? 2. What book written by another author would you like to have written yourself? 3. What have been the three worst mistakes of your career? 4. Please list three of your novels I ought to take with me on a lonely island? 5. Where will your career have been pushed up to in ten years time? What do you think or what is your wish? 6. What was the latest book you have read privately? How did you like it? 7. What was the latest CD you have bought y…

Yep, got this too. Set myself up with a Mail Plus which costs like £11.00 a year and there are no adverts on your personal page. The major feature I like about this is the address guard. You have your main email addy but you can use other addys for certain things. This has worked really well for me because with all the websites I have to give address to ... I just separated them all out into categories and gave them an email addy. That way I'll be able to easily delete and address if I get too much spam ... and the good thing is with having about only 10 sites to an address ... it will help identify where the spam comes from. I remember in the beginning my ser…

Never thought I'd see the day when I would leave Netscape Mail behind. Oh, it's still on my desktop because I shift over mail files as backups because Thunder and Net are compatible as far as folders and messages go. Well, I did switch over to Thunder quite some time ago and after getting used to the nuisances of the thing I'm sorry I never switched over sooner. I've never used Outlook Express, don't care much for it although I did experiment with it. Not compatible with anything else I've got. I've now got the full Outlook since I got XP but I'm not much interested in it. It's a good mail client if anyone is looking for something. Since it's a sister of Firef…

I've got it! Every Friday in my local newspaper ... there is a fella who does a column called "Click." I look forward to his articles every week because they are very interesting. Basically his latest article spoke on ... browsers ... IE of course and Firefox being the top browsers now with Opera hanging in there. Although it's a beta version he wrote on Google Chrome. I liked the sound of it so I downloaded it the other day. I must say I like it very much. Especially when you click on the + and it gives you pictures of previously used websites. It copied over all my settings from Firefox so that was definitely a plus. I find that on some websites …

Well, do wonders never cease. I experimented with the picture thingy here. If you go into User CP you'll see Pictures & Albums and Social Groups. Well, I started an album called The Lumleys and a Social Group called The Master's Domain. These are open for all to view but please: No one is to post any photos in either of these two places. This is our domain. Although it's open to the public to view ... I think you will probably only be able to post stuff if you are a paid member. Dave: Do you want to jump in here? I have opened Photos of the Master. Anyone can add photos they have of Brian. Acceptable photos will be of Brian by himself or with yourself or a…

I have been given a nudge to get this thread going. Brian celebrates his 70th birthday this Sunday. Whew, tempus really did fugit on this one. I got him a big box of diabetic chocolates from Thornton's and he's got an XO bottle of brandy. I also got him the new Frank Sinatra photo album. About a year ago I bought a pewter picture frame in Vegas so I've gotten off my backside and put a picture in it. Ha, the picture where he won one of his jackpots! So, okay folks, here's where you can give your birthday wishes. Happy 70th Birthday Sweetheart ... and may you have many, many more.

Thought you all might be interested in this piece from the Tor Books Newsletter which I subscribe to. Musical Necroscopes—how to keep your hero alive beyond death without making him a bloodsucking vampire by Melissa Ann Singer, Senior Editor, Tor/Forge Books When Tom Doherty handed me the first Necroscope novel, he said, “I think this might be a bit strong for you.” (I was young and innocent-looking in those days.) What a challenge! Who could resist? I dived right in and had a terrific time meeting Brian Lumley . . . and Harry Keogh, the Necroscope, and the men and women of E-Branch, and Brian’s wonderful, nasty, shape-shifting, alien, evil v…
