Welcome forum for new members to say hi, ask questions about the site, or just to tell how you stumbled into the horrifically wonderful world of Lumley...

Hello all, I'm a huge Necroscope fan. I bought the first book in 1986 because the cover was, and is, magnificent. I've read them all repeatedly. I'm beginning my fourth readthrough of the first 10 books; right in the middle of "Necroscope II: Vamphyri!" (with a "V" in my 1988 Tor copy) I've only been able to interest one of five friends in the book series. Strange to me, as once I begin a Necroscope book I can't put it down and can't wait to get into the next book. I look forward to learning and enjoying more about the books and characters through this forum. Can't get enough of Canker Canison. Great character. Ken

Hello All, Just wanted to send a big hello to everyone! First Lumley: House of Doors (loved it and picked it up only because of the cover with the skull), but years later I came across Necroscope (another skull on the cover) and grabbed it up. Since then every time I go to the bookstore, I check to see if there are any new Lumley's out there. (And yes, Amazon is delivering the new one in a few days) Favorite Lumley: the Psychomech series. (Any chance of a 4th?) I’ve spent the last 20 years in the military, and all the way, at each port and base, there has been a Lumley novel to read. Harry and the gang have been like old friends through it all, and for that, …

Hey there all just wanted to say a quick hi to you all! I'm currently reading Vampire World 2: The Last Aerie. I first come across Lumley's work in my local book shop in Torquay, while looking for a horror book with my other half I was attracted by the artwork of the Necroscope series. So had a look and was hooked, and to top it off the 1st book was signed. When i went to buy it the guy behind the counter told me that Brian Lives round here and that he had been in that morning! Right well I've gone on long enough now so gonna go have a look around

I finished Necroscope II: Wampyri! for the second time in my life last night. I read parts 1 and 2 when I was a teenager, after guzzling all of the HPL my father could foist on me. Strangely, the imagery from my first reading was recovered and re-experienced; almost like no time had passed. Actually, it has to have been over 20 years... New ground for me today; I started Necroscope III. I've been a frequent stumbler over Brian's stuff, along with Ramsey Cambell's, for many, many years. Can't really avoid the guys in the gothic horror genre

Hello all. It's been awhile since I was here last and decided to register and say hi. I'm not much on introductions so I'll keep it brief. I've been reading Brian's work since the early 90's and have been hooked since the first paragraph of Necroscope. I had the extreme pleasure of meeting him at Balticon and hearing him read from his then soon-to-be-released book The Touch. (Hearing his impression of John Wayne was nearly as nice as hearing him read :::grin:: I managed to get a few books autographed and will treasure them as long as I am alive. (Or undead?) Well that's about it, other than hoping the movie gets done and done right..... nECrO

For me to introduce myself... Though I confess I'm not overly keen on introductions, or indeed being known. I do come of my own free will, but should you choose to reply and welcome me make sure you do so knowingly and of YOUR own free will. Be careful though, I do so enjoy a good word game. Let's see I can't remember when it was that I first picked up one of the Master's works. I do however recall that for many years in the book stores I would notice those interesting covers and wonder. I always ended up putting them down to being another disposable book that didn't merit the art on the cover, until one day when I could no longer stave off my curiosity... So I start…

Hi all.... I'm just finishing the first book Necroscope, and have really enjoyed it....just ordered 2 of the sequels not 30 minutes ago, plus one of the Titus Crow books, and am quite happy to have found Lumley's books.... There has been one small problem and I am wondering if it's been discussed before....Now the faq, told me how to pronounce "wamphyri" with the V sound sitting in for the "W" (yay), but with characters like Borrowitz it's killing me this "W"....Russian (like Romanian) has no "W" sound or even character/letter, so it would be pronounced "borrovitz", so why "W" and not "V" ? I know it's a small thing but it jerks me right out of the suspension of d…

Hello. I just wanted to sign up and say that I think that reading the NercoScope Saga will probably influence the the rest of my life. Anyway I'm 15 from New York, first heard about Brain's work from my Dad who read them all before I did. At first I really didn't want to start reading them but once I started I was addicted. I read though NercoScope - The Touch in one school year (I skipped over Harry and other strange heroes) and glad I did, sad after I finished the last of the saga though, I wish it was a never ending story. Im really excited for the new book coming out this month on the 21st and this time I'll be reading it before my Father. Anyway I just want …

Hello all. Totally new to forums and such, so advance apologies for any future cyber faux pas. First stumbled across Mr Lumleys work in the early nineties when I bought the burrowers beneath, I read it from cover to cover on the bus journey home! Am a devoted disciple of the old gentleman of providence and to my shame only read the necroscope series very recently. Although I enjoyed the books immensely my favourites are still Mr Lumleys short stories and novella. The Return of the Deep Ones is a personal favourite as is anything with Titus and Henri. Anyway, so much for introductions, I'm off to explore:)

  25. Started by Plymouthboy,

Just another note. Am I the only one that thinks it's strange that Mr Lumley was born exactly nine months after Mr Lovecraft bought the farm!!!
