Further, what about video games, should we expect to see a FPS or hopefully, an in-depth RPG based in the Necroscope universe?

What about TV? Personally, I would love to see the entirety of the Wamphryi adapted but if push came to shove, the first five Necroscope books of and of course, the vampire world trilogy.

So if you could be in the movie, what part would you play? Would you chose to be a main character, or someone less obvious - and why?

I wouldn't want to be a main character - I can't act and don't look like how I imagine any of the characters to be so I would have to be an extra of some sort.

For a long time I've been excited about the possibility of Harry coming to the big screen. But after researching, Evolving Pictures comes across more and more like a tax-haven company, one who buys options just for the tax breaks, and has no plans to produce them, and can then take the loss on their taxes to offset their parent company's real estate/payroll/investment taxes. They don't seem to actually invest in the properties they buy. They buy them, dump in a couple thousand, and cut their losses. Common tactics for tax haven companies. As long as Evolving Pictures holds the rights, we'll never see an actual Necroscope movie. Period.

Just wondering if Brian had any interest in walk on part,or maybe more for movie,just like Hitchcock or Stephen King,and if so what part would you like to see him play.

I was thinking along the lines of:

Walk on -playing slots in Vegas casino during Lost Years{gotta include this}

bigger part-Sargeant Lane young Harrys teacher

I think a small walk on part would be the best, then we can all play "spot Brian" the first time we see it!

I think in his younger years Brian would make an excellent Sergeant Lane, but he's in his 70's now, I don't think he looks that age, but in my mind Lane is a lot younger.

I think the Duty Officer at EBranch has been suggested before, I quite like that idea, the part can be as big or small as needed. Or he could be the voice of a dead person, or a background mouner in the Graveyard at Leipzig?

And this my friends is far scarier than any Wamphyri Lord!

but when people hear the name Harry Keogh i do not want them to think of some Actor who will never Ever even come close to the Necroscope we all know and love!

I personally think that Harry should be an unknown actor, there isn't anyone out there at the moment that I can think of who would be able to act it right and look right as well.

Also, the main characters are British and Russian (in the first book at least - may as well begin at the beginning). I think that should be considered when chosing because if they're not British/Russian they will have to be able to do a respectable accent - it will kill the film if they all sound like Keanu Reeves did in Dracula!

So who do you think would be good as who?

It would be great if it is going to be filmed in the UK! If there was the option to buy-in to the movie that would be great too. For the movie Outlaws, you could go onto the website and pay £180 to have your name on the credits and be an extra in the film. They even threw in a free T-shirt! :cool:

Necroscope is to vampires what lord of the rings is to fantasy, and DUNE is to sci-fi. Both books were wrecked by the movie adaptations, I hope Necroscope is done much better.

P.S. Can I recommend Jason Isaacs for a Wamphyri role, maybe Shaithis if the movies ever get that far (The Source).

Necroscope has now been optioned for a movie. The option has been paid, the check has been cashed, and we've bought the first loaf of bread.

We met with two very important gentlemen in Phoenix at WFC. More on this as it develops.

I expect to be adding to this in the very near future. In the meantime if you want to start any discussions, feel free.

So whenever I see something in a film that I think could be harnessed for awesome effect in the movie I'll post it here, for debate of course.

Today I watched Underworld Evolution again, I thought the effects used for Marcus, and the lycans would be unreal if used to full potential for the Wamphyri. Watching the fight at the end I could just picture Canker howling at the moon. Marcus' metaporphosing 'bat wings' looked good too.

What do you think?

I think we'll probably argue about the casting of Harry, so we can leave that for now.

I'll start with my choice for director, and that would be errrr, David Fincher (I would like Marty to do it, but that'll cause me loads of grief which I can't be bothered with right now ). Why you ask? Well I think he's one of the best directors of the moment, who's always trying new things, and going in new directions. ANd we need someone who'll inevitably go against the studio - he lost the battle for Alien 3, but that battle was lost before he took up the mantle!!!
