1. I'm not too bad thanks folks! What's been going on with me? Well - if you remember me, you remember my hair? No more. Too many years of crimping and black dye too their toll, so I shaved it all off, right down to the woodwork. I actually quite like it! I also got very skinny. I used to carry around *ahem* a few extra pounds, and I decided that they could get lost along with the hair. So I am, in a very real sense, a shadow of my former self. Also - Helen and I got married! I'm now like, all officially, not living in sin! How's that for a post chock-full of good news, eh?
2. Hello old friends! It's me, SpOOkshow - or Paul, if you know me better as such. I appreciate that it's practically half a century since I logged in and said hello, but - here I am! (I'd throw in a longevity/tenacity quote, but it's been a while). How are you all? How's the site? Consider me out of the BL loop, and looking back in. What have I missed? Would be good to catch up! --P
3. Happy Birthday, Mr Lumley. Have a great day!
4. No question for me - Deadspawn Does that weighty tome feel like a tombstone? It certainly signalled a death - or maybe - a change ! It was the end of an era. We see the Necroscope at the mercy of himself - his magnified emotions. That's a powerful thing. As Harry's unwelcome tenant begins to exert it's influence on him, do you hear yourself willing Harry on? What? Not even with Paxton, at the end ? Of course you do ! This book is my favourite, because it is (was) the culmination of the Necroscope saga - it was the end that no-one really expected. And that tag line from the cover 'Even the Dead are screaming now...'
5. During my usual wanderings in Derby's second hand bookshops today, I saw a copy of: Necroscope: Avengers - the UK HB edition, of course It was priced at £6.99, and the condition was pretty good. If anyone fancies it, let me know, and I'll pick it up.
6. A friend of mine arrived at my house today, with a fair condition paberback Khai of Ancient Khem. It's the Grafton UK edition...probably early 90's(?). If anyone's interested - he'd like a swap ! He needs House of Cthulhu, Tarra Khash : Hrossak! and Iced On Aran. If anyone has a spare, and would like to trade, please get in touch with me.
7. Just a quick word to Lumlians in the UK. If you have a branch of the bookshop chain 'The Works' nearby, keep an eye out in their 'Miscellaneous Fiction' section. Today in Derby, I turned up a Lumley 'Ship of Dreams' paperback. I asked if they had any more, but were a little vague... However - the prices were good ! I picked up 4 copies - Headline books, First published in GB 1989. All in pretty good condition. They were, frankly, amazingly cheap - £1.50 each If anyone wants a copy, let me know.
8. Sorry to interrupt, ladies and gentlemen But if my Lovecraft serves me well, there is a story entitled 'The Statement of Randolph Carter', and HPL's other dreams stuff 'The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath', 'The Silver Key' and 'Through the Gates of the Silver Key'. Titus Crow and Dreamlands fans should definately take a look. You might recognize a few names, and a certain coffin shaped clock...
9. There's always lots of talk about a Necroscope movie. Opinions are divided - as they should be With a subject so close to the hearts of many, it's always a tough call. With the recent re-release of Psychomech from Tor, what would be your thoughts on a film version of this fine book ? Would Psychomech be too 'weird' for Hollywood and the unsuspecting public? Who would you cast as Corporal Richard Allan Garrison? or Willy Koenig, or Thomas Schroeder? Your thoughts, please [ 08-25-2001 04:42 PM: Message edited 1 time, lastly by SpOOkshow ]
10. Thanks for the link Canker - I have this problem ordering stuff online at the moment though - I call it 'Credit Card where art thou?' Thanks to our ever-efficient Webmaster, I will be getting my Titus Crow omnibus book 3 soon. Thanks Shadoe
11. He's not wrong, you know ! Waterstones have so far this year done me proud - got me a copy of 'Avengers' a week or two before official release, a copy of 'The Whisperer', and today they told me that my shiny new copy of 'Psychomech' was ready to be collected. I'm really glad. My old copies were getting a little...er...battered.
12. Many thanks to Nathan for helping me aquire the first two Titus Crow volumes from Tor. I usually stand with the 'UK Covers' banner, but in the case of the US versions of these books, I'm swaying... If any Lumlians in the USA should spot the third and final Titus Crow volume in large paperback or hardback, give me a yell ! Thanks again Nathan
13. Speaking of the 'X-Men'... I'm thinking really hard for a part in a Necroscope film for Famke Jannsen Any ideas, anyone? Please ?
14. I'm glad it got there OK Nathan. Glad you like it, and glad to help
15. Just in case anyone was looking... Nathan has Lost Years Vol II UK HB on the way to him.
