I'm reading them for the second time and unbelievably I still have trouble putting them down. One thing that I have noticed reading them a second time is that everything seems to happen so quickly. The novels seem almost to finish too quickly which definitely wasn't my thought the first time around.

There are several sad moments in these books but I find the most depressing book was no. 5. I was particularly sad when Harry was going to try and reach out with his deadspeak to Brenda but decided against it. For me it was sad because it almost seemed like Harry had somehow managed to forget his childhood sweetheart. Then of course his meeting with the Dweller who had become a wolf where Harry started to cry. Bought a tear to my eye.

Just curious to see which human, not Wamphyri character, everybody loves to hate? My personal choice was Theo Dolgikh - who said that humans can't be as evil as the Wamphyri!

I think it would be very difficult to make a movie of this wonderful saga. My feeling is that perhaps an animated movie or a CGI movie like Beowulf would be best. My preference is for an animated movie because I think it would be impossible to cast for a movie like this. No offence to anybody but some of the suggestions here for actors to play parts don't exactly inspire me with confidence.

Nice to see some Aussies on board here! There was a book shop at my local shopping centre where I would occasionally browse. The necroscope covers had me absolutely intrigued out of all the books in the store. I remember reading the blurbs and thought that the plot sounded absolutely brilliant. I don't know why but for several years, I never bought the books but I would always go to this section and read the blurbs. Weird huh? When I finally mustered the courage to buy them, I couldn't put them down, I would always finish the books within a few days. The funniest thing is I've only read them once but I reckon I've read a couple of passages from each of the books a hundred or so times! Some of the passages are just so poignant that I can't help but to read them over and over again!

For me, whether deliberate or coincidental, for the first four books, I found Lumley's world so Godless - nobody, no matter how innocent, was safe from death! Almost to the point of depressing - Harry Keogh was the closest thing to a God, avenging the innocent! But to discover that there was a God in the last of his books was simply pure genius! Even Harry was made to believe at the very end! While there are many passages that I found myself reading over and over again, one of the most poignant moments was the passage where he is sleeping before his battle with Shaithis and Shaitan where he comes to a startling realisation of a relation between God and the Mobius continuum! But perhaps best to quote directly from the book, what I thought was a beautiful passage that continues to give me goosebumps! "And inside of him, instinctively aware of looming defeat, his vampire shrank down and was small, and perhaps bemoaned it's fate: to be one with a man who desired only to be...a man.

Nestor for me - because despite the monster in him, he achieves redemption in the end and manages to retain his humanity in some instances. Good way to go!
