Harry Sr.'s Dad

Featured Replies

In Necroscope, when Harry decides to join Gormely's E-Branch, one of the first things he does (if not the first, im not sure) is find his mother... what about his father? If i remember correctly Harry never met his father... wouldn't he be the least bit curious? Wouldn't you?

Some of my friends have told me that Harry might have met his father, but the incident was too unexciting for Lumley to write about... i cant accept that... its his dad for jeepers creepers!

On the subject of parents, why oh why oh why did no-one suggest that Nathan go and see Brenda?? She could've helped him to sort out his lineage et al.

  • Author

maybe nobody suggested it because they knew that brenda had seriously lost it towards the end of her life... and what people do in life they do that much more in death...

Hmmmm...amazing what you can find when you set to show all topics...no one ever really gave an opinion on this. Anyone out there have one?

I never even thought about it for some reason. I guess it's because we were told that Harry's powers came from his mother and I didn't question it further. Be interesting to have some sort of prequil about it...or at least the Man's thoughts on it.

Yep Jase, the Russian killed her because of her talent, drove him crazy.

thats a good point but we did get a tiny background of his father as to why Mary got married to Shukshin so i guess that was all that was needed...

sometimes you don't need anymore than that, it wasn't relevant and the info that was relevant, we got it in that description

The russian guy, Victor Shukshin was the stepfather not the father. The father's name was Gerald Snaith, so the question is why was Harry's last name changed.

Regarding the name Snaith, he died a year after Harry was born, and when that happened, she spent alot of time afterwards getting to know her Brother Michael again along with his wife.

During that time, she wondered what Harry's future be if something ever happened to her, so she asked Michael (being that they couldn't have children of their own) if they would take Harry and later adopt him.

I am assuming, that when Michael did get Harry after Shukshin killed her, that the adoption went through, hence Harry using Keogh. Could be as well that after Snaith died, Mary changed Harry's name to her own too, who knows but in the Mind of the Master? :)

I cannot believe N8 The Omniscent(oops... NOT Omnipotent-all powerful-like I've said before...) does not have an answer... this is a good question... maybe he did not really care...?

Actually, someone else already explained why he never looked up his real father...

I didn't want to be redundant...or act like it was my answer. :D

this is a very wierd subject, not wierd as in bad, but just so true...why did he never find his father?

it would have been so easy...was it a personal thing?..was he waiting for something in particular b4 he made his move or was he just too darn busy killing vamps?

this is just the perfect excuse to go back and start reading from the beginning!

There's another good reason to begin at the beginning again right here. No...

...here. :D

But anyway...

Yeah, that explains his name and a good reason that Harry might not look him up.

As far as exploring his history, it doesn't say. There may be some vague reference but nothing that I remember.

What's really funny to me is that he could have "looked him up"! Not in the phone book or state/county records, but you know...like in the "ether". I wasn't even thinking! He is (was) the Necroscope after all!

It does make one wonder.

And it does make one wonder why no one's wondered till now!

But since before Harry, started them talking to each other. They did'nt know, maybe his Father faded away. His Mother stayed with him for so long because she loved him and Harry her. So were in contact almost from the beginning.

Nate.....

it could be that Harry's father just faded away but...well...i thought it took ages for the mind to fade...and he hadn't been gone that long...in relative terms, so his mind still should have been there

hmmmm....

Just reading in Deadspeak where Harry's ma says that they're not inexhaustible...

but how quickly could he have faded?...

hmmm, perhaps one of the novlettes??

i'm still searching for more of a mention of his dad.

hmmm, did i say novlette?...ahem..i meant of course...novelette...
