DEADSPEAK

Featured Replies

I can't believe this has never been discussed (at least in my tenure on the MB).

Now obviously you won't be able to tell me what you come up with because, of course, you'll be dead and you'll have been pondering it for decades.

But what do you think you will ponder and try to come up with as you lie for centuries with nothing else to do?

What do you do in life that you will continue to do in death?

(Yeah, I know it's a fictional concept... humor me. After all... no one really knows that it is fictional! Seems just as plausible as some things I've heard. :D )

well, hmmmmm.....

lots... i'd play music, make new and exciting dishes, and write, write, write! Other than that, I'd talk to the others once in a while, and make a tock-mark for every year there... like a penetenciary if you ask me, unless i was good friends with a live one or some interesting dead person, like, i dunno... Lennon, or Sophocles...

Good question... makes ya think...

Next.....? ;)

Excellent Topic Nathan...

I might find myself doing math, like Harry.

Or I might compose photographs... that is my hobby. Or would it be possible I could read????

Thanks for answering. smile.gif It is a pretty good topic, isn't it. smile.gif

Sorta hard to come up with something when you actually think about it, huh? Seems like it would be a rare person that would actually go on doing their actual occupation after they die. Doesn't it suck that one is hard put to make a living doing what they really love to do?

I guess we'll have plenty of time for our hobbies come The Reaper, eh? We'll probably wonder why we bitched about "not having enough time" in life.

...and I think it would be possible to read, Mike. I've been thinking about that. Hell, providing you outlive Brian, you could just reach out and ask him to tell you a story! Or if you prefer the written word, I'm sure a mental image could be arranged. :D

My problem with this poser, is that my interest's are all pretty much active...I love to Ski, Scuba dive, Walk & play sports, I suppose I could contact famous people from years gone by and ask them question's, but to be honest, I think I would be totaly miserable, not being able to get up and do physical things.

I will have to give this one some more thought, but I am hoping that there is an after life, but one which you can move around in, rather than being stuck in your grave !!!!

Ok, I guess it goes without saying I would go on to continue redesigning time after time in my head...THE perfect website. Hmmm...strange thing, huh? I would also have to somehow infiltrate a living person's mind and implant the design there, because it would be such a shame to let it go to waste. smile.gif

Continue to do in death what I do in life?

Well, I hope I'll have a more interesting job before I die... I would hate to do what I do now for the rest of eternity! smile.gif

But if i could do either of my dream jobs - full-time writer or interior designer - then I could happily continue with them until my ethereal substance has dissipated, leaving a mountain of unwritten erotica, or ghost-towns of Gothic mansions!!

Now this is more like it!

I can just see it now...

Goth, resplendent in her bat-fur robes, sitting on a throne in a scary mansion (TemporAerie? lol!) atop huge drop-away cliffs. Deano's just pulling himself up the side of a thousand foot drop, climbing tools in hand, only to drop them and plunge back down into the roaring surf below. JB's in the kitchen preparing some tasty new dish and singing her latest composition to herself as Shadoe lurks in the dungeons working up new wonders for the Cyberdead, and Mike is taking a very cold shower to wash away the effects of JB's and Goth's stories. He'll get back to taking pictures later.

:D

ooh i never saw this...

i wouldn't particularly like to be serving people food in my undeath, so i'd probably be...people watcher extraodinaire (any good coffee shops in the afterlife?)

failing that i'd be a chataholic on the net!

i'm not quite sure i'd have anything of value to contribute really

i think i would have to write loads of songs and carry on with my bass all tabbed out in my decimated rotting corpse.some heavy distortion and kick ass bass chords as to make wamphyri tremble ha ha ha..

The people I could talk to... after I spent time talking with the family who have gone before me, I would have to look up Bruce Lee, Jim Morrison and Stevie Ray Vaughn. I could say I would spend a lot of time writing and playing music, but I would probably just spend as much time looking up and talking to as many legendary figures that I could. Imagine the knowledge you could absorb about Martial Arts, Music, Writing, Philosophy, etc... So I guess I would have to just sit there yapping to whomever I could drag into a conversation.

My time would be spent writing, and talking to James Joyce, Yeats, Chaucer, Mary Shelley, Thomas Moore, James Clarence Mangan, Eoghan Ruadh O'neill, Tennesse Williams, Stanley Kubrick, Oates (so I can ask him if he deemed his dying as the result of suicide) and that would keep me going for a while, atleast until I could think of some more.

I would do a lot more talking then than I would in a whole life time.

Mmm - I'd spend eternity thinking of what I should have said, growing ever more bitter and twisted because I didn't do what I obviously should have.

The aura about my grave shall be a quagmire of resentment, a festering pool of dark emotion - worth a chat for hearing my latest paranoid delusion about something inconsequential that happened years before! Mwahahahaha!!

Either that or I'll become the deadspeak shove-halfpenny champion of all time. tongue.gif

ahhhh! just found this post. where to start. i only read the last few postings, so if i repeat what some one already said forgive me. to start, i would like to know the truth, so i would find the apostles. then, maybe, they could point me in the direction of "the man" himself. i would also track down buddha. he was a man to start so it shouldn't prove too difficult. i wouls love to find aristotle, euclid, nietze, einstein. i would love to end the shakespeare argument once and for all. i would need to talk to kubrick, for sure. i'd love to discuss everything with truman capote, twisted fekker that he was. morrison, lennon, hendrix, joplin, cobain, layne staley. i wouldn't have time for anything else.

Well I feel a bit of a fool 'cos it looks as though no ones posted here for a while... anywho's.

In death I'm gonna obviously try to find out things that I could never know in life but theres more... If it was like it is in Necroscope I would have to try to find some sort of movement or transport even though it wouldnt matter much. One thing I would have to do is find out if mathematics is the machine that makes everything work and wether we discovered it or made it up and it just happened to work. I'd try to make a name for myself amongst the dead, this has more credibility when your dead since being rich, good looking etc. doesnt matter then. After that I'd just go with the flow or help newcomers... I dunno.

I hope you don't really plan on kiling yourself, Sd as I'm sure there'd be people who miss you. But hey, I can answer this too. So when I die, well, I'll do the things I'm doing now for fun. I'd write poetry, perhaps perfect the ones I've been working on and actually figure out the art of confined forms! Assuming I could have them with me I'd perfect the art of Violin and Cello, maybe pick up the Saxophone. I'd work on all the novels that I get ideas for that I can never finish before the new ideas come rolling in. I'd find my great-great-grandmother on my mom's side and ask her how she spelled Malinda so that way I can answer once and for all if it was really spelled that way or if my mother's just a nut. I'd try and find my dad's real family because I've never got the chance to know them. I'd hunt down famous composers and learn more on music. Perhaps I'd hunt Stradivari and try and learn or thing or two about how a violin is constructed so that maybe I could peg tune without sending my bridge flying across the room! I'd want to talk to Charlotte Bronte and Lumley (hey even if I died in some freak accident death is forever, forever is a long time and sooner or later he'll be there too!) and Mercedes Lackey and Jacqueline Carey. I'd likely to talk to other authors I love but can't think of names for at this moment! I'd hunt thorught he legends of King Arthur to find out if he was really real or not. I'd hunt for the answer to the question of the secret to the pyramids and stonehenge. I'd keep myself busy, because I have to be doing something. And even if my list is really long, death is a long time and just the things I have now won't last that long. But of course, unless the bible is wrong(I choose to believe it's the truth), I'm going to be in heaven with Christ and the Father when I die. My priorties could end up lying elsewhere, but you know. Who knows, I could still get the chance to talk to some of the greats of any of them are up there and willing to talk to me too!

Most likely I'd be running through my memory banks listening to the likes of Slayer, Pantera, Meshuggah, my own stuff, etc. A mental blasting of metal 24/7. Until I got bored, then I don't know? And I'm keeping fingers crossed that there are cigs wherever you end up after death. I can hardly go an hour let alone eternity.

Interesting question. I would think I'd be attempting to contact the ancestors of humanity. To find out what really happened at the dawn of time or at least what man calls time.

A great inquisitor perhaps? I'm thirsty for knowlege now, who can contemplate what's buried out there?
