I - personally - would not have said that T.J. was in thrall to Janos, what with never having been bitten by him. Ken Layard on the other hand...

As for TJ being in thrall to Janos??? I don’t believe he was ever in thrall to him; Janos was just controlling him after he caught him in his mind and he dealt him a physic blow to incapacitate him.

So that he could discover more about him...

You've got the right book Dave, Turkur Tzonov was the head of Russia's E Branch at the time. As far as i can see the Projekt Direktor's name is only mentioned once.
