Fellow Lumlians…

You’ll see this information in the usual places on the first of the month ... but for now ... good as my word ... here’s something fresh off the press... :D

And ... please use this thread for discussions about this project. Brian and I are very interested to know what you think of it. Thanks.

Delirium Books

This is going to be a must for collectors and avid fans alike.

I think the cost may put some folks off but, if I'm honest, this book will contain some of my favorite works and if the book looks like it sounds in the description, it will be worth every penny, so I will be ordering a copy.

(Hopefully LL will not read this til it's too late)

:D:D

Yes, it is expensive but a must have for the serious collector. I have to pay for my copy as well, but I don't mind because it just goes and sits nicely with all my other goodies.

Anyway, if you go to this link it will show you what the ultra editions look like. It's for Brian Keene's previously published book but at least it gives you an idea of what you are getting.

No complaints. One of these has my name on it.

Me and Deano may have to go into hiding after this

This is a real must .... my order is in together with the Dark Homage collection... so reckon its definately Beans on Toast for the next few month.

Ah well you can't take your cash with you (except when you come back!) and it'll look sooooooooooo good on the shelf.

PS.. I arranged an installment pay period over 3 months with him through paypal which certainly might help spread cost for anyone......

You shouldn't have to pay any import tax. I don't know how much the the shipping costs to send it over here but just say the postage is $50.00. That's $350.00. Converted using today's rate brings it to £221.00 pounds. I believe you are allowed to bring in £400.00 or more. tongue.gif

Okay, When you come into the country from the US in addition to your booze, perfume and cig allowances, you are allowed £145.00 of merchandise provided it is for your personal use and you do not have to declare it like gifts and souvenirs, provided there's nothing illegal.

EU is a different story. EU gives you a gigantic booze, perfume and cig allowance. Plus you can bring other stuff like gifts and souvenirs provided there's nothing illegal.

Here's the government link:

Mail is different. All packages must contain a customs declaration on them with the value of the contents. I've received packages from my mother in the past with a value of $500.00 which equates to £300.00 and sometimes the boxes have been inspected by Customs but were then sealed back up and then sent on to me. All of this merchandise being Ebay books for personal use.

TOR delivers books all the time and we've never had to pay a fee on them, ever. Just think, some of you get loads of stuff from Ebay have you ever been asked to pay anything? I've never had to pay any charges. I know Dark Crystal gets lots of stuff from Ebay ... I don't believe he's ever been asked to pay a fee.

I really don't think the books are going to be a problem. We are having three sent to us and I doubt we'll have any problems. Books and magazines come under a different category than other merchandise. And like I said, that's provided its only for personal use.

Notice the big emphasis on for personal use only.

Hope this helps. ;)

There's no VAT on books in the UK, so even if you are selling them on you shouldn't be charged anything.

The only exception is if something comes bundled with the book - for example the Horrible Histories books cost £3.99, there is no tax on that - but some of the Horrible Histories come in gift packs with rubber rats & plastic boils (nice) - and you are charged 17.5% on £3.30 which brings it up to £3.99.

So it is likely that you'll be charged tax on anything that includes CDs - that's after your personal allowance as Silky has explained.

Yup. I have been known to buy a couple of books through ebay. At least one of which was almost the same cost as this.

I have never yet been asked to pay any import tax on a book or, if I'm honest a cd.

I'm happy to say that I have ordered one of these and can't wait to get me grubby paws on it. (I'm glad I don't live where Deano works. It may get hijacked:)

Okay, from my own personal experience...

These are items I've had shipped to me and never been asked to pay anything extra:

clothes

books, magazines etc.

cds, vinly records, tapes

kitchen items

I wouldn't worry about it at all. If Customs wants you to pay a tax they'll surely let you know because they will have opened the package, checked it out and then stuck a notice in there with it that you need to pay something extra, then send it on to you or they would send you a letter asking you for payment before they sent the package on.

They just randomly pick a package and open it. They can't possibly open every package because it's impossible. And these days they are really looking for suspect packages ... and you know the kind I mean...

So, like I said, don't worry, if you need to pay anything extra, which I don't think you will, they will definitely let you know.

Has anyone had any news about the book. The last email i got said it would be with us by the end of December/ start of Jan....still no news though, has anyone contacted the publisher ?

Or am I just being impatient ?

Oh YES.

My copy has just been delivered and it is awsome.

Now if you will excuse me, i'm going to sit and stare at it for a couple of hours/days/weeks*

I must admit that considering the amount I have paid for this book, I have never received any notification or news about the book from delirium. And now keith has his copy...Grr

Keith did you get any kind of correspondance to let you know it was coming, or did it just arrive ?

Apart from the original notes asking about what names we wanted in the dedication page, I received no notification about the book being sent.

But as Silky let us know about the book being posted, I'm happy.

I'm happy to say that there are a few names on the dedication page I recognise as members of this site
