Drat it! I can't go because I've got way too much to do before KCVI. :mad:

 

There's only nine days left between getting home from Leipzig and KC.

 

I know it's only one day but that's, let's see, from the time Brian leaves the house and gets back to the house ... approx 12 hours. Just can't do it. Ah, well.

Oh that's the first day we're at Torquay..could be a possibility

Maybe not I didn't realise it was 193 miles from Torquay to London ....until I checked the AA guide. After travelling 400 miles the day before I might be in meltdown !!!

If I can afford it I'll come, can't promise though at this stage

I'm promising nothing:) if I can fit it in with family in london before hand, then ok, if not, it's not going to happen I want to come though

This seems to fall right into our travel plans. Need to check some things out but it looks like we may be there

Thanks for the heads up on this. I shall endeavour to attend!! Er, nope, not endeavour. Just noticed it's a weekend and I don't HAVE to work if I don't want to. So shall be there, barring WW3 or any other minor mishaps!!

Good idea, GG. We've never met - in fact I've never met anyone else from the board - so it may be an opportunity to do so. Am quite well up on pubs in Central Smoke, so if anyone else has an idea/where to meet, feel free to suggest. Does the Intrepid Fox still exist? It seems like 18 and a half months ago since I was last there! It was! :eek:

Yep, the Intrepid Fox is still going strong. We used to meet up at the Ben Crouch Tavern, just off Oxford Street but we're going for another of the errie pubs for the London meet up this time. Come along there's a separate thread for it in Settlement.

But the Intrepid Fox is nasty! Also, I don't think it opens quite that early, I have a vague memory of it being closed late morning/early afternoon.

 

I think the Ben Crouch Tavern might be a good idea for this event, as it's reasonably close to Tottenham Court Road, so not too far to Forbidden Planet.

 

Or there's always the Conservatory, which is where book signings used to be held, way back when FP was still on New Oxford Street, but it probably has higher beer prices than the pubs.

Didn't realise the I.F. had dropped in flavour so much!!! Am open to suggestions, whatever! Low beer prices would be excellent, although with this I think we're only trying to heal the sick, not raise the dead! Heh heh.

GG doesn;t like the intrepid fox because it's a "metal/rock" pub. I like it, although it's dirty and smelly

 

The conservatory - last time I went it was minging.

 

Ben crouch is a much better idea

With ya on that one, Tops. Intrepid Fox good (including smelly comment etc). Metal good.

Must admit though, never heard of Ben Crouch. Who he? Am sure someone will make our minds up for us where to meet!! By the way, is anyone attending the signing as well? :eek:

It's just off Oxford Street (opposite Berwick Street) about halfway between Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus tube stations.

 

How about we meet about 12ish, then head to the signing at 1pm, then there's time for post-signing drinks/food too.

Was @ BC Tavern 1st & 2nd Aug as a stopover on travels. Good place to recommend eating too. Dig the little imp in stained glass red!!! And all other paraphernalia. Morbid as fk! :eek: But cool.

Oh no it isn't! AFAIK, it's closed, as of last night!

Deb, I was there at the beginning of Aug. You were SO right about TIF. It has just deteriorated into a wannabe lookalike Opium Den since I was last there. It used to be such a GOOD place to meet and do the drinking thing, too. Oh well, time moves on, eh? Am still seriously dischuffed at having to work during this signing :mad:. Still, keep it for the Con, huh!?
