Ha! That's what I get for not reading the thread (I was too busy with Necroscope: Resurgence).

I'm a metal head, but I'm going to say this anyway. I think a metal type soundtrack would really cheapen the film. I can imagine it: Every fight scene with blurry close ups so you can't see what the Hell is going on, and a loud techno-metallic tune playing amid the blood spurts and whumps. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there could be a place for it, like the end credits.

Something with lots of strings...Dark, melancholy, cold...Imagine what you'd like to hear in the background when young Boris Dragosani hears Faethors phlegmy deadspeak voice for the first time in the Cruciform Hills...

I'm a metal freak as well, but I've got to agree with you. As much as I like to hear Metal and rock in movies, (The Crow for me being a great example of rock music enhancing the atmosphere), I just don't really see it working in Necroscope.

Its obvious, people, that Pink Floyd's musical style is the ideal medium to add flavour to the Necroscope Saga. Although, knowing Hollywood, the likes of Rob Zombie or some such will get the gig.

 

When I listen to track one of Floyd's Atom Heart Mother, the big long one at the start, I think about Wamphyri Aeries and Lords and Ladies of the Wamphyri riding out over the boulder plains on their flyers, about to hunt yet more Szgany.

 

Ergo, Pink Floyd, or at least, Dave Gilmour should do something for the soundtrack.

 

If Necroscope is a UK-based production (and quite rightly so) then Murray Gold who does the new Doctor Who music would also be a great contributor. I think Doctor Who and its Torchwood spin-off mirrors quite a bit of the mood of Necroscope, certainly the Russian/British E-Branches. Some of Gold's music on Doctor Who Series 2 would be perfect for Necroscope.

However, knowing Hollywood, it'll be done in Canada or New Zealand. Cristophe Gans should direct cos I like what he did with Silent Hill.

I'm thinking Queensryche. Dark, metal, conspiratorial. Let them do the entire sound track. Kinda like Queen did for Flash Gordon. Depending on what the music is, I think it would really set this apart as a horror classic. We all know the story will be great. Make sure to go the extra mile on a music sound track and it's an assured hit!

And don't forget the umlaut above the 'y'!! Absolutely agree with you. Queensryche. Is that Rage For Order Queensryche, or Empire Queensryche, or Tribe Queensryche? Any of that would do. There is some fantastic tune on all their albums. Why didn't I think of that? Harumph!! Good shout DW - and welcome to the board as well. Speak your mind here. Everyone else does!! It sure is Mandy. Although I like my metal, I'm thinking that mixing some classical sounding stuff in there would be very good. I think sometimes metal in a horror film can make it a bit to cliche if you know what I mean. Classical sounding stuff works really well though I think, subtle enough for you not to notice it too much and for the music not to take over from the picture which is how I think it should be, it's an accompaniment, not the main feature, just helps to set the atmosphere.

 

In my opinion though there should definately NOT be any Pink Floyd, don't like those guys!

Trent Reznor Jr. playing some piano type stuff a'la the "Still" cd (its only available from nin.com) Leaving Hope is ASTOUNDING. Trent is a HUGE fan of Necroscope books... So's Brian "Manson" Warner...

I do have to agree with what some folks have said about metal being out for the soundtrack. It's personally one of my favorite types of music and I've played in several metal bands over the years.

 

The band I spent the most time in even wrote and released a song based on a novel by a different author (not sure about the rules here so I won't mention the author or novel... unless someone's interested and asks). That particular novel has been in the netherworld of "are they making the movie or not?" probably as long as The Necroscope. Now, maybe I'm biased but I think the song would work great for an opening credits song. Within the movie? I just don't see it working (although someone at a fansite for the novel that had also heard the song pointed out some scenes he thought it would work good in so go figure).

 

Someone mentioned Queen in Flash Gordon as to what would be good for a soundtrack. Ugh. Queen in Highlander, now that was a soundtrack.

Couldn't agree more on the Queen soundtracks, Highlander film soso, soundtrack super :cool: .

Evanessence has some really dramatic music...it would be nice to see some of their stuff on the soundtrack...
