February 6, 200422 yr comment_23319 ok, this is for the newbies amoung us, and for the oldies who missed it the first or second time round, or anyone really! I know this hasn't been done for a while. The idea is to get a cast and crew together for a necroscope film. The time is right to cast again, because of new talent in the field of film. I do have one rule, well maybe two, I think you'll all agree with me, NO BEN AFFLECK or JENIFER LOPEZ. - of course this is my opinion and not the opinion of the site, or the owner etc etc I think we'll probably argue about the casting of Harry, so we can leave that for now. I'll start with my choice for director, and that would be errrr, David Fincher (I would like Marty to do it, but that'll cause me loads of grief which I can't be bothered with right now ). Why you ask? Well I think he's one of the best directors of the moment, who's always trying new things, and going in new directions. ANd we need someone who'll inevitably go against the studio - he lost the battle for Alien 3, but that battle was lost before he took up the mantle!!! Ta Tops. Report
February 6, 200422 yr comment_23320 As far as fantasy casting goes Jeremy Brett would have been the perfect Dragosani... As for others all I'd say is to put a ban on any kids playing any baddie - let's face it when a twenty-something tries to play creeping sinister evil they come across more like 'obnoxious brat' or worse yet 'mild irritation'... Report
February 6, 200422 yr comment_23321 Director... a Tim Burton Necro film would be sweet, kinda dark and spooky, but probably not the best choice. John Woo... lots of exploding vampires, LOL... amusing, but again probably not the best! I go with Brian on this, Ridley Scott! Report
February 6, 200422 yr Author comment_23322 I was just going to menoitn what Brian said about Ridley Scott, but there was another, John Carpenter, I seem to recall him mentioning. So I guess we go with what Brian would want, but I don't ever remember him mentioning cast:) Dragsani - Jeremy Irons Anyone? Report
February 6, 200422 yr comment_23323 Hi all i would like to see Peter Jackson as director i think would be very good at the gory bits Report
February 6, 200422 yr comment_23324 Ridley Scott would do a bang up job, but how about Sam Raimi? Evil Dead Sam Raimi not Spider Man Sam Raimi. As far as cast, I am stumped on this, I think Jeremy Irons would do well as Dragosani...How about Adrian Paul as Alec Kyle? hmmmm...that burning smell is me thinking about this. Report
February 6, 200422 yr Author comment_23325 Sam Raimi in his Evil Dead period - that works for me, but who would Bruce Campbell play?? After all, he's in all of Sam's films... And no he can't be killed off in 5 minutes. Just a thought. Adrian Paul - no. Report
February 9, 200422 yr comment_23326 i'm not too sure a necroscope film would be a good idea you would'nt be able to just do one you'd have to do them all. plus book to film never works out quite right there would be so much missing from the books, how would you fit it in a genre it would end up a action/horror/thriller/hardcore porn/gore-fest.. i don't think distributors would well... distribute it. mornin all hmm best get to college in a couple o hours.. or should i? (i say looking around sinisterly) Report
February 9, 200422 yr comment_23327 How about Bruce doing an Alec Guiness a la Kind Hearts and Coronets? Well it works for me! Report
February 9, 200422 yr Author comment_23328 and who would bruce play??? Alec Guiness - he wasn't in Necroscope. Lokust, I'm not sure I agree with you as film is a completely different medium to book, but you can hone down the screen play and take out anything that might make the movie drag (for pacing reasons), and no I'm not saying the book drags - it doesn't. Tops Report
February 9, 200422 yr comment_23329 You could probably condense 2 or 3 books into 1 film without losing too much of the plot (heh heh, I lost the plot years ago!)... and of course this is all purely fantasy as Hollywood would never make anything as cool as this! So we can indulge ourselves as to who we'd like to direct/cast! Ever since our early discussions, I can't think of Harry as anyone except the guy who played Martin in 'Game On' (thanks for that Scarlet!) Report
February 9, 200422 yr comment_23330 I'll just go with who you guys think who should play who.......I just want to see a film made!!! (only if its a great film made from a book like Lord Of The Rings and not like...say...Queen of the Dammed! - sorry to any one who liked that film, but the book was soooo much better!!) Report
February 9, 200422 yr comment_23331 Martin from Game On? Well so long as Samantha Janus doesn't get a role - Saw her in a dodgy Brit horror years ago - truely terrible... Report
February 10, 200422 yr Author comment_23334 Canker, could Jermemy Irons be Dragosani and Vormulac? hmmm... I can easily see him as Dragosani, but it's been a while since I've read the vampire world stuff... How about Jude Law as Harry though? Any thoughs on this? Tops Report
February 10, 200422 yr comment_23335 I could see Jude as Alec Kyle and then Harry but not as the orginal incarnation. Not sure about Irons as Dragonasi as I reckon he's to old, I reckon the guy who played Drac in Wes Cravens Dracula looks more the part [ February 10, 2004, 07:44 AM: Message edited by: The Helm ] Report
February 10, 200422 yr comment_23336 I agree that Jeremy Irons would be too old for that part of Dragosani. It would worry me to put in well known actors, I think the only way to make a film like necroscope work is to put in mainly nobody's. But I think Tim Curry should do the voice of Thibor, however, he would have to work on the accent. btw hello everybody. Report
February 11, 200422 yr comment_23337 Great idea Eeyore, Tim Curry should be there he has a fantasticaly sinister voice Report
February 12, 200422 yr comment_23338 You mean to tell me that Tim Currys accent in that Michael Crichton movie with the Apes and the Volcanoe (sorry, as you can tell I forgot the name) wouldn't be good enough? (I jest! I jest!) I like Tim Curry in it as well just do to his work as Pennywise in the It miniseries. Jude Law would work I think, and even though he is a little old and wouldn't do this kind of movie how about Daniel Day Lewis? And as far as I am concerned Bruce Campbell could play who ever he wanted to. Finally saw Bubba Ho-Tep and I have to say Campbell should win the Oscar for his work as Old Elvis. Report
February 12, 200422 yr Author comment_23339 start a bubba ho-tep thread in the media spire would you? As for DDL, well I am sure he could play someone, someone older maybe, so I think maybe ohhh... Yanos? anyone? Report
February 13, 200422 yr comment_23340 i'd have to agree that jeremy irons would make a good vormulac and i think willem defoe would definately make a great wamphyri not too sure but he can be evil so he's perfect for any lord.. maybe janos...ohhh how about malinari.. Report
February 13, 200422 yr Author comment_23341 I just realised I spelled Janos the way I would say it. oops! As for Irons being too old, I always thought of Dragosani as being old, even though he's young... what are the chances that what he does possibly ages him in some way... hmmmm.... but I see the point, but we need IRONS - whatever. Personally I don't think there are enough evil people in hollywood to play the bad guys - they're all too pretty. So I think it'll mostly be english dudes! Oh, I think Christopher Lee should play Shaitan! What say you out there! Tops Report
February 13, 200422 yr comment_23342 Christopher Lee is way to old for Shaitan, maybe Jeremy Iron's????????? Report
February 13, 200422 yr Author comment_23343 Shaitan is like thousands of years old - as is Christopher Lee. Report
