No, I haven't heard Depp's english accent in that movie. Haven't even heard of that movie. The extent of movies with Depp I've seen:

Blow, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Secret Window, Sleepy Hollow, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and then of course the wonderful film Edward Scissorhands.... But that's me getting off topic. I see you're point, I was just saying if they went for a famous person there was chance of Depp being able to manage it. I mean more so than Tom Cruise. I don't know, this is why professionals cast the movies and not people like us. They know what they're doing (kind of).

Hi to all, Newbie here. I think Maybe Brian Cox could play The Minister Responsable and to probably put the cat amongst the pidgeons: Gary Oldman as Harry in Alex Kyle's body i just think he could show that intensity.

I think Ridley Scott would do an excellent job, he seldom does anything but a great job with everything.

I would hate to see Burton helm the stories in those early books, his vision is just to ....eccentric and I think these stories work better when the supernatural elements are less "in your face".

As a less A-list suggestion I'd throw in Vincenzo Natali, he directed "Cube" and "Cypher". He has a very tight visually style and deals with strange and often disurbing things very naturally which I think suits the Necro-saga.

I agree. I like that guy from Stargate, as the first Harry. He is who I envision him like. I always had such a hard time envisioning harry, tho, later, when he took over Alek's body. Was so weird for me, then.

Hi everybody, another newbie here, not use to these chat rooms, so if I step out of line let me know.

I am not sure what everybody thinks, but would like to see either Vin Diesel or the Rock play Thibor Ferenczy.

Any opinions??

I like the idea of them doing it and but I don't think either would do Thibor justice. Ok ole Diesel maybe. I'd like to see some no-name that's just as huge as them throw down for Thibor though.

And welcome to the board man. Hope ya stick around.

Ermmmm....I mean he is supposed to be Romanian....Vin, "The Rock"....not so Romanian....like...at all.

I do like the idea of him be very bulky and intimadating physically but also making him a little less galmourous than those guys would fit I would think?

Hey folks, semi-almost-kinda-newbie here. Just a few characters that tend to jump out in my mind:

Ian Goodly - For whatever reason, every time I read, I see David Hyde Pierce. He might be entirely too short for the role, I don't know, but I think he could really pull off the whole melancholy "mortician" attitude that Ian has.

Gorvi the Guile - Ben Cross. He played Barnabus Collins in the short-lived remake of Dark Shadows, and he just impresses me as a really smarmy, unctuous bastard to begin with.

And a somewhat random one - anyone seen the trailers for the new version of The Longest Yard? That HUGE guy that Sandler plays ping-pong with? I think he could pull of a great Fess Ferenc. The guy's already something like 7'6" so I figure he could play a giant Wamphyri wrecking machine.

Oh, and though she's getting a bit old now (and can't act her way out of a paper bag), I always thought Angie Everhart could pull of a Lady Karen, or perhaps a Devetaki Skullguise, if we felt like tearing off half her face smile.gif

I think a film adaptation would be best done in a Japanese Anime-style. The drawings could be realistic, more "Ghost in the Shell"-like and not "Shreck"-like computer animation. The metamorpism problem would be solved, as well as the various creatures.

Then it leaves voices, and casting a voice for a character opens up alot more actors than casting the role...as you could pick good actors who maybe couldn't physically do the role.

Just a thought,

Not trying to sound insensitive, but because of Fess Ferenc's acromegaly, someone with a growth disorder would really fit the bill and be a much more accurate portrayal.

Where too start:) there is no point in trying to argue the points of cast when no one knows what the story is going to be... lets face it, the film will be the max of 2 hours.

You will have to fit all of the character introductions and development into that time, all the special bits such as deadspeak and the mobius continum etc etc. that taken into consideration you will only have maybe the 5 main charactors to worry about.

For the moment there is no point in even looking at the Vampire world as it's literaly ( as far as I can remember ) on the Necroscope thats been picked up with the potential to the 3rd book to be picked up, so even if these films make a total Mint your only going to be looking at introducng the Vamp world in the 3rd movie!.

sorry if im sounding a bit harsh. im a little drunk from the football match that was on tonight.

Hi all, just want to get my 2 cents worth in.

Earlier someone mentioned the the psycho from American Psycho - I believe his name is Christian Bale - I really wouldn't want to see any big name actors in the movie, but I just imagined that dude as Dragosani tearing a corpse apart for its secrets, and, wow. just about perfect in my mind.

Other than that I think it would be really spoiled if big name actors were in it, well unless they were in a very minor role. And, I hate to disagree with anyone, but I just can't see WWE superstars and people like Vin Diesel as Wamphyri. Most wrestlers just don't look very intelligent and Wamphyri need to have that look for me. And sorry girls I know he's a hunk, but Vin Diesel, Wamphyri!! I don't think I could bare to watch that.

anyway signing off for now, talk to y'all soon

Something that needs to be taken into consideration is that the cast can't, for the most part, be in their 40's or 50's, unless that's how it is in the books. Remember, Harry was only 21 or so when he met Sir Keenan. I'd try to match the actors' ages w/the book as close as possible.

If the film is a one off whoever plays Harry will be remembered as Harry but if sequels follow who ever plays Alec Kyle in the first film becomes Harry.

Whoever plays the Wamphyri have got be larger than normal men so unless you use naturally larger than normal men you have to rely on CG again. Yawn. If wrestlers or the Vin Diesels dont play the parts who could ?

Totally agree, Tops. Tall and broad shouldered is all they need to be, not, massive, chiseled goons. and also the tanned look is no good for me either. when do Wamphyri sun themselves. obviously never. There is no way Vin or wrestlers could pull off Wamphyri. No WAY.

hmmm I still think vin diesal would make a good wamphyri. though his acting skills aren't varied, he does have the set of acting skills to pull off a wamphryi, as he's very good at being menacing and has a strong presence.

He's not TOO muscular, not a body builder, and you can tell that his lithe solid muscle structure (not HUGE) actually has strength to it, not body builder steroid weakling strength (I know a lot about this type of stuff as my boyfriend develops his muscles to be lithe and defined, but not body builder mutant over developed.) If you paled his skin up with make up, I think he could do a good all round job.

As to the wrestlers... eeek no way!

Good point about the tans, hadnt even occured to me,I been in the sun too much lately.

Interesting how everybody has such varied views on how the characters should look, as you say Sophie, menacing and with a strong presence are the essential characteristics the Lords and Ladies need to display, the physical size isnt as important, after all Tom Cruise looks tall on screen. (NO I AM NOT SUGGESTING HIM AS A LORD!)

I think I'll have to take back what I said about the tans actually because sophie is right. with makeup, lighting and special effects they can pretty much make any one look any way they want. They could make Vin Diesel look Wamphyri (shudder), they could make Tom Cruise look Wamphyri (gag!) and they could even make me look Wamphyri. Now thats a good idea...

Hmmmm.... you give Tom Cruise more credit than I do. *L*

My thought would be that Tom could be crushed by a Warrior and torn apart. He is afterall just a tidbit ;)

I can see him used to fashion an aerie. All stretched and contorted. And I'd have his face prominent, frozen in a scream of agony. Or maybe turn him into a gas beast or something. Something with long lasting torture anyway (hey, he's done it to me).
