Hi, I have been reading the Necroscope books for a while now, starting with 'Vampire Wars' and then starting from the beginning. I think the books are superb and am about to start reading 'The Lost Years'. I have just finished 'Deadspawn' and was a bit confused by the ending. What is the link between Harry and Shaitan? and where did Shaitan decend from?

Shaitan is not just a man he's symbolic, he is pure evil and always has been, even before his infection with vampirism......Shaitan was cast down from on high!!!! Remind you of anything?

As for the link well Harry went on to a higher plain when he truly died but his body was sent back to the beggining to start the cycle all over again.....what's been has been and will be again...Harry's corpse or Alec Kyles depending on how you look at it is the source of Vampirism in Starside Sunside......It was meant to be a complete circle all starting and ending with something of Harry!

Hi, thanks for the reply. So ... Harry was the first Vampire.....So the next question is, how did he become infected?, or have I lost the plot?

No he wasn't the first vampire as his body was dead already, Harry's body was the source of the infection yes but Shaitan was the earliest of the Wamphryi too walk upon Sunside/Starside. As you no from Deadspeak Faethor infected Harry with spores.............It's a never ending cycle like the chicken and the egg and which came first.......

 

And yes you've most definately lost the plot

yeah I've found that you have to read the whole series in order to get the full picture...and read it twice so that if you missed anything important the first time, u go "AHA!" during the second reading...lol.

I've read the series more than twice, and still have not taken most of it in. I recently finished Deadspawn for the third or fourth time and just started to get my head round the Harry/Shaitan connection. I'm on to Blood Brothers just now, and there is just so much history to remember. By the time I've completed the full series I will probably have forgotten most of it and have to start again.

And that's the way it has been with me, probably countless others, should be and will be!!! A viscous circle, as opposed to a vicious one, I suppose!!
