June 17, 200718 yr comment_35612 Anyone been watching a movie and thought "those effects/that director etc. would be great for the Necroscope movie"? I have ...many a time. Just can't remember them. So whenever I see something in a film that I think could be harnessed for awesome effect in the movie I'll post it here, for debate of course. Today I watched Underworld Evolution again, I thought the effects used for Marcus, and the lycans would be unreal if used to full potential for the Wamphyri. Watching the fight at the end I could just picture Canker howling at the moon. Marcus' metaporphosing 'bat wings' looked good too. What do you think? Report
June 19, 200718 yr comment_35625 I still think Silent Hill is a good example of good special effects as they used latex costumes for the monsters rather than CGI. This gave a much more "realistic" feel to the characters as they were part of the shoot and not added on in post like CGI is. It also added to the actors performances as they could see the monsters and could react to them rather than having to act in front of a broom with a tennis ball on the end of it! Another movie that I thought was great and had me a nervous wreck when the end credits rolled is 28 Weeks Later... This movie is a good example at how important pacing and good writing/directing is - not many special effects in this movie, just edge of your seat tension from start to finish! Report

June 20, 200718 yr comment_35645 I have Silent Hill on DVD - the story is slightly different to the one in the game, but most of the locations and key characters are there... Report
June 20, 200718 yr comment_35646 Haven't seen it, yet, my sweetheart liked it though. She has given her "okay" and she is one devil of a critic so I think it is the only game-based movie worth watching. Alone in the Dark, Doom, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider...no way and now they are doing a "Codename 47" movie. Jesus! Back to topic. I think they should not use the technique they used on 300 or Sin City(Green-Screen-Only)...that would not fit. And I agree, better Latex than CGI. Thought that they did a good latex job on this on, too. http://media.movieweb.com/galleries/3730/2479/hi/cp041-175-DHP-v001.jpg A good start for building a Fess Ferenc eh? Report
June 20, 200718 yr Author comment_35647 Love that pic, looks awesome. what's it from? good site too:cool:-thnx for directing me there. I'd love to see Starside & its characters on the screen. I think that CGI seems to work better in scenes with a dark, alien, inhospitable atmosphere-just how i imagine Starside- than in bright, daylightish scenes, so any CGI would have to be used, if at all, on Wamphyri, in Starside. But, then, they weren't necessarily refined to Starside so there goes that idea. Man,my head hurts-can't make my mind up :[ Report

June 20, 200718 yr Author comment_35649 Yeah? I've only seen the preview and it didn't look that....real?.... wasn't it done with the 'green screen'? Thnx again for that site, still browsing-lots of exciting news of upcoming fliks I didn't know about(won't mention any:o),it's off topic anywy:grin: Report
June 20, 200718 yr comment_35650 Yeah background was completely done with green-screen, and well it should look like a comic book ..like Sin City...because they are originally comicbooks. But the bald monster is a latex-masked 6,8 feet tall wrestler so i would prefer latex. Computer-animation...makes me think of Van Hellsing and I didn't like the vampires there. No problem Report
