Necroscope - Comics

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’ve just finished reading The Touch and want more Necroscope! I’ve read all the other books and have recently found out there were comics based on the novels. I was just wondering whether people thought these were worth reading and if so, any recommendations on where to pick them up as I’m in the UK and have difficulty getting my hands on some of Brians other books (mainly the Vampire Trilogy).

May seem a silly question to ask on a Brian Lumley forum but I figure that you will all know best. 

I’ve started reading the Titus Crow series (am currently on the first one – Burrowers Underneath) though am finding it a little more difficult to get into. Will keep soldiering on though as I found the Necroscope books to be amazing so anything will seem a little less by comparison.

So, any comments on the comics?

Thanks!

Here is a good place to ask, you got that one right!

The comics are, as far as I know hard to get hold of where ever you are! Your best bet is on the internet, you won't find any in the shops but occasionally they might come up on ebay or something.

Stick with Titus Crow, they're may not be necroscope stories but they really are great stories!

Hey ShadowK!

:) I'd get there quick IIWY!

I'd just like to echo Silver in her comments. The pay-off for sticking with Titus Crow is immense! If you are unfamiliar with the Cthulhu Mythos aspects of these stories it can be a little hard to get into, but luckily you've got one of the best Lexomancers in the business to explain it all to you!

Thanks for all the info guys :) Have just ordered these from ebay:

Wasn't sure whether the amazon one was a set or just the first comic. Am quite looking forward to getting my hands on them now. There was also the 3 for the 2nd book though they went for over £20 which I didn't want to invest just yet incase I don't like them (seriously doubt it though!)

Also, thought it may be worth mentioning; not one of you actually commented on whether the comics are any good! :D

lol

Thanks again!

*is scratching his head*

With a vast amount of luck, I guess. They're out of print...mh..maybe on a flee-market or second hand bookshops.

Hm...guess..you should ask your parents to buy them online for you.

I have all of the comix bar one.

If you're a Lumley/Necro fan:

You'll love em.

The 5 Malibu editions are in colour which is a bonus,

but the two from caliber are B&W, it's Vol. II from Caliber Im missing so i aint that upset about it.

The five from malibu that cover Necroscope I

with Dragosani etc are REALLY cool for us fans.

They're alll definately out there, you've just gotta invest a bit of time finding them. Malibu Comics covered Necroscope 1 (5 issues)and also did 3 issues that cover Wamphyri. Unfortunately the series was not continued and Necroscope: Book II Wamphyri, Series 3 stops just after Julian beheads his uncle and stuffs him in the furnace under Harkley House. Frustratingf to say the least!! Caliber Comics then picked up the idea and published 2 black & white issues from the Source. Again the series was dropped before completion and is very unfortunate they didn't finish. I sourced my comics from all over. Ebay and Amazon regularly list the more common issues, but finding the Caliber issues and the second set from Malibu requires a bit mor tenacity. I found success on specialist comic sites like Mars Import and Atomic Avenue which both offer international shipping. Did I like the comics? I've never been a the sort of bloke to get into comics, but seeing someone else's visual idea of the Wamphyri was great. The way Lumley's stories have been transferred to a visual medium was well executed and the story does not suffer any serious changes. Again, it's just a crying shame that they never finished the saga. Maybe someone from Marvel should pick up the idea? We can only hope.
