November 18, 200817 yr comment_38502 i wish they'd get a shift on & make the bloody film already, i've been looking forward to seeing it for too long Report
December 13, 200817 yr comment_38570 I agree, i hope they make the movie soon, the only problem i see is that "Holywood" like to re-write stories, look at the Harry Potter films, lots cut out and missed out, ansd when you look at what they done with Judge Dredd, would we see titus crow appear in a Necroscope movie, the ABC wariors appeared in the JD film.... Lets hope they dont mess around with a good story when they make the film Report

Only time will tell though. If it ever gets made. Report
December 16, 200817 yr comment_38578 Well apparantly there's now more than one company interested in it. Hopefully a bit of healthy competition is just what's needed to get things moving! Fingers crossed Report
December 16, 200817 yr comment_38581 I realy think it would work well as a mini series. I would love to see the blokes from Heroes do it. A big box office movie followed by a Necro mini series. Then I can sleep until they bring Titus Crow to the big screen! Report
January 9, 200917 yr comment_38639 While Id love to see a Necroscope movie series...Really, I dont think they could make it even half as good as any one of the novels UNLESS they left nothing out, which would mean that they would have to make three movies out of each book, which would take far too long to complete. What Id love to see would be a cinematic movie and then a TV series of the rest of the books up to the final third of Deadspawn, and then make a cinematic finale. Now THAT would make for an amazing journey through the world/s we all love. They could then do the same for the Vampire worlds trilogy and possibly even make a miniseries out of The Lost Years novels. They could also do the same for the E-Branch trilogy as well. For me this would be the ONLY possible way to do these amazing stories justice. Report
January 9, 200917 yr comment_38640 I do like your thinking here Jarrod, a film followed by a series would work for me. The danger with a series though is that they would no doubt feel compelled to elaborate the characters and add in more mini-missions, neatly sized to be the right lenght for just one episode, eg they'll be one where Ben Trask has to try and get through to the London police that this or that person who's charged with something really bad but saying he's innocent is lying but he can't prove it! Or Trevor and Ken go out on the town one night trying to pull, but instead discover a massive drugs operation going on in a nightclub so they have to investigate. There'll be random possible vampiric activity that they're constantly on the look out for as well, I'm sure it wouldn't be limited to what's in the books, but of course they'll manage to overcome it though! It is a great idea, but I think there's even more scope to mess around with the story in a series. Report
January 10, 200917 yr comment_38641 I would love to see all the Necroscope books,E-Branch books and Starside/Sunside trilogy brought to life on screen but I think they would actually be done more justice if they were to be done as anime. A screenwriter like Masamune Shirow who wrote the original Ghost in the Shell would make it an incredible experience. Report
January 12, 200917 yr comment_38644 I do love anime, but I don't think it would be right for Necroscope. We had a discussion about it in a previous movie thread, here's a snippet of that conversation and what a few of us thought would be better- Quote: Originally Posted by Silver Anyway if you do know what I'm talking about, maybe something along those lines, not like that exactly it'd have to be a bit more grown up but more like that than manga. January 14, 200917 yr comment_38647 the series idea soudns extremly interesting and reminds me a HELL of a lot of torchwood. remember when they had a storyline for an ep or 2. did something completly random. another storyline, something random. then about a 4 ep storyline linking everything together. That series had me hooked more than doctor who last year. or teh xmas episode. Report
January 14, 200917 yr comment_38652 Nah...don't get me wrong but western arts should not be mixed up with eastern arts. Tis' would create a freaking mess. Report
January 16, 200917 yr comment_38658 What about a director? Who would everybody like to see taking the big chair? Personally, I would love Del Toro to do it, I like his style. Report
January 16, 200917 yr comment_38660 Mh..but I think he would not stay true to the book itself and try to add his own style.. Report
January 16, 200917 yr comment_38661 Hmmmm, interesting question. I'm not sure to be honest, I'm not big on directors so whoever you all suggest please (just for my benefit) include something they have directed so I might know who they are! I do know of some - but only the obvious ones! Peter Jackson does spring to mind as he did a good job on TLOTR, and there are some similarities. Such as both are an epic set of books to be transferred to film, and both have big and ugly bad guys. He did make them quite convincing! However I'm sure that there are more suitable directors out there, so your thoughts please? Report
January 16, 200917 yr comment_38664 I've never been one for staying true to the book when it comes to movies. It's a different media, which needs a different kind of approach. Somewhere along the line you're going to upset fans no matter how close the film is to the book. Everybody has a different opinion on how certain people should look/act, which is fair enough. That's the beauty of a book. It takes you on a wonderful journey into your own imagination. And when somebody messes with the picture you have in your mind, you are understandably annoyed. But, for me, the movie is just an impression of the book by another artist. A bit like hr Giger's vision of Arnold Bocklin's isle of the dead painting, or many other examples of work, by many other artists. All I ask from a movie is that it's enjoyable. And all I ask for in the Necro movie is good effects and good acting, with a solid script. I don't mind if they mess about with the finer details, as long as its good viewing and it gets more people into the books. Report
January 17, 200917 yr comment_38668 A Necroscope movie.........HELLELUJAH !!! If done right this could be so utterly great. Of course things will be changed for the movie. All I hope for is that the source material is treated with respect. And I hope they will go all-out, no holds barred....meaning not toning down the violence and everything to attract younger audiences. I want to leave the theatre dripping in blood and gore, having to talk to a shrink for the rest of my mentally f-ed up life. This movie should have the same impact as when you first saw Hellraiser to name something. Report
January 20, 200917 yr comment_38674 Marky that is a great way of describing how you think of transferring a book to a film, another artists perception of it. I do agree as well, but only to a certain extent. I realise they will alter the storyline a bit - even though I'd rather they didn't - but as long as they don't alter anything that would fundimentally change the message or central theme like they did with I am Legend. Most of the changes throughout the film to some degree I could handle, but the ending - I hated that they changed the entire message of the book, the whole reason why he was legend was completely different and in my opinion nowhere near as powerful. However, I'm still glad they made the film because I know of a few people who have/will now read the book. Bakema NL, I also agree with you. It should be a film that leaves you totally awe struck like nothing you've ever seen before. I think though that rather than the feeling you got the first time you saw Hellraiser, it should leave you feeling the way you did when you first read Necroscope! Report
February 7, 200917 yr comment_38744 So it has been a while since I had time to check up on my favorite author. Is there any definite news yet about the movie? Is it actually going to happen for sure? I have been waiting for news on this for several years now! I cant wait to see the movie!! Report
February 7, 200917 yr comment_38748 Just wondering if Brian had any interest in walk on part,or maybe more for movie, just like Hitchcock or Stephen King, and if so what part would you like to see him play. I was thinking along the lines of: Walk on -playing slots in Vegas casino during Lost Years{gotta include this} bigger part-Sargeant Lane young Harrys teacher Any thoughts:) Report
February 9, 200917 yr comment_38750 I've just started a new thread on this one Numasthrall, I think it should be separate from the standard Movie thread as it is a slightly different topic. I can't wait for the movie to come out either, as far as I know there isn't any further news, but when there is, you can be sure Silky will let us know. Report
