Hi everyone! I am really happy to have stumbled across this site and forum. I have been a follower of the Necroscope series for many years now and love all the books. Particularly love the Vampire Worlds - love the Lady Wratha! Have only just found the latest book - The Touch and will read it after I finish re-reading the entire series.

Any news of another book? I would love to hear other fans of Brian Lumley - I also love the Titus Crow series and House of Doors but my favourites are definitely the Necroscope series.

Also keen to find out whether the series will finally make it's way onto the big screen or even on TV.

Lady Amber

Welcome aboard Lady Amber, good to have you with us.

There are loads of other books and every single one of them is a gem. Check out Khai of Khem, or Demogorgon or the Psychomech trilogy, for example. Or you may also enjoy the Dreamland or Primal land series - or both!

There are also loads of short story collections around, a couple of the more recent ones are Haggopian or The Taint.

As for a TV show or film, the option fo rthe film was bought years ago and has been renewed each time it needed to be, but as far as I know still hasn't progressed very far yet.

Welcome to the site Lady Amber. As Silver stated - there are so many great books - i have to recommend the Psychomech trilogy myself as a personal favourite if you haven't read it yet.

As far as new books - there is a rumor of a new novella in the works, but can't say for sure just yet. ;) And don't forget Harry and the Pirates coming out (or is out already - soon I think) in the US and I think it is already out in the UK.

The film is progressing - even if at a snail's pace. Look at it this way - the longer it takes to come out the better looking the Wamphyri will appear on screen. :)

Welcome to the board Lady Amber, if you haven't read the Dreamlands Series, then that is a must for Lumlians everywhere. These are a favorite of mine.

Beyond the Necro books, I've very much enjoyed the Titus Crow series. The Cuthulu mythos is a wealth of great horror material, and Brian's novels got me into reading more of Lovecraft's stories.

I want to say that Guillermo del Toro mentioned in an interview that he's interested in making a film out of 'Mountains of Madness'. That would be an awesome GDT film.

Well, they've already done Re-animator (Love me some Herbert West), and then followed it up with From Beyond. 'The Dunwich Horror' and 'Dagon' have also been done. Off the top of my head, those are the others I can think of.

After seeing the stunningly beautiful design work GDT delivered with 'Pans Labyrinth' and then 'HellBoy 2', I think he could really deliver the goods with his take on a great Lovecraft classic such as 'Mountains'. He proved himself a worthy horror film director with 'The Orphanage'.

I think part of your opinion may come from Lovecraft's writing style which, by todays standards, seems a little reserved and at times too vague for the modern reader. I myself grew up on the slasher gorefest films of the 80's, so I can relate to that. While H.P. didn't so much throw his monsters right at your face, he used great descriptive creepiness to draw you into the charaters own feelings of "WTF is chasing me!?". Sorta like the curve-ball M. Night Shyamalan threw at everyone with 'Signs'. It wasn't so much a movie about the aliens, but how the aliens presence was affecting the characters and how they dealt with it. Sure you felt cheated up front, but after watching it a few times I got what he was going for, and it worked.

Also, you have to remember the time-period in which he was writing. I don't think an author like Stephen King would've been as well received back then as he is now. The era and audience were of a different ilk back then. I mean, let's face it. His work is almost a century old now. About the only shock and gore that was presented to people back in those times were from news stories of real events. They would've probably deemed someone like Mr. King a sick and perverted psychopath for dreaming up such fiction as is the norm today.

I wasn't done. Got a problem with that?

You've got it all wrong Mr Moogly. It's not at all because of those reasons, I love Lovecraft, the subtle monster in the darkness just out of view. I love the monsters in your face too, but neither has anything to do with my opinion on this.

The reason isn't anything to do with horror content, it's general content where I think if Mountains was made it would fall down on. I love the story but in a film i expect there'll be lots of shots of the mountains, the snow and howling winds etc which I think will slow it down.

This is just a guess of course, it might be totally different. If they do make it I'll watch it anyway, I'm not saying it would be rubbish, just not my first choice.
