October 12, 200915 yr comment_40396 I have read City of the Dead - it's also not disappointing. I've not read Dead Sea yet which is a follow on I believe. You shouldn't be putting it off:) his style of Zombies is what I want to read
October 12, 200915 yr comment_40408 Keene will have a new one out soon Darkness at the edge of town, one of my favorite Keene's. Keep an eye out for it. Also give Terminal a look. Besides 'City' I think the only Keene I haven't read is ClickersII

October 12, 200915 yr comment_40412 I tried to read LOTR again a few months back but stopped at old Tom's as it just got really boring!
October 14, 200915 yr comment_40434 I have just got to Tom's place. I expect extreme boredom. If I can get through it, I can get through the council of Elrond
October 15, 200915 yr comment_40436 It's not so much boredom just annoyance at his constant sing songy voice talking sh**e, I love the book and have read it so many times, but I'm a purist when it comes to reading and cant skip a single word, so now I cant read one of my all time faves because some t**t in a stupid hat, starts singing about about old man willow and his river daughter. Git!

November 26, 200915 yr comment_40747 Weaveworld, Clive Barker Not your first time, is it? You must report back on your finding.
November 26, 200915 yr Author comment_40751 It is, I haven't read it before. I'm about a third of the way in, will report when I'm done. I assume you've read it?
November 26, 200915 yr comment_40755 If you like it Silver, try The Great and Secret Show and Everville....Absolutely awesome books, Barkers the books of the Art are superb and I've been waiting like everybody else for the final part, although it's been something like 15 odd years he's been promising to do it! Barker for me personally was a miss-represented author as I thought he was a horror writer but although there is the macabre and gruesome in there he's more a fantasy writer.

It's up there on my list of favorites. And Pete is right, most of his stuff I consider fantasy, unless your talking about The Books of Blood. A lot of good horror in them.

Pete, you think he'll ever complete the series? And did you ever read Imajica?
December 15, 200915 yr Author comment_40893 I read the books of blood before but you guys are totally right, he is more of a fantasy type than a horror writer. I really enjoyed Weaveworld, it was a great story but there was something that jarred with me a little - not much - but enough that I noticed it. Sometimes when he describes body parts he uses the wrong words in my opinion. Those of you who know me, know that I'm really not at all offended by bad language or pretty much anything actually and I have been known to say worse than some of you might think! However when usuing the word C*nt to describe that area of a womans anatomy just generally in passing, not in a derogatory way or as an insult seems wrong. It's way too harsh and doesn't sit well in my mind, Cal's doesn't objectify women and he's not saying it as an insult, so for Barker to be using that word to me just seems like too much. It wasn't enough to put me off though. I'm now reading The Great and Secret Show as it's the other Barker book I was given recently. Someone was having a clear out so I got the first of the Books of Blood, Waveworld and The Great and Secret Show - lucky me!

December 17, 200915 yr comment_40909 In the seemingly paradisal Wisconsin town of French Landing, small distortions disturb the beauty: a talking crow, an old man obeying strange internal marching orders, a house that is both there and not quite there. And roaming the town is a terrible fiend nicknamed the Fisherman, who is abducting and murdering small children and eating their flesh. The sheriff desperately wants the help of a retired Los Angeles cop, who once collared another serial killer in a neighboring town.
