:DHas anyone read the twilight books? My wife wants me to read them,but first she must read the Necroscope series.

I have seen the movie...I think it's a good love story, the vampire part is a bit insulting, though. *sparkle*

My 15 year old granddaughter loved them along with her 15 year old friends.

My 11 year old saw the movie which made her want to read the books,can't be a bad thing.I read Darren Shans Vampire Trilogy a bit ago,quite a good read and definitely a soft vampire set,again one for the kids....

I am a hard core Lumley reader and if i must endure a little vampire love story I think it will be worth the trade for my wife to read a real vampire book

My 30+ friend saw the film and thought she fell in love with the vampire character!

Twilight should of been called Twee-shite, laughable vampires.

 

I stupidly thought it would be ok, how wrong I was!

Well i liked the movie never read the books, same goes for True Blood seen the series never read the books, well lets see its okay from a certain point of view didn't much care for the main characters but loved one of the other vampires in it.

Yesterday I watched "Låt den rätte komma in/Let the Right One In", a recent swedish vampire movie. It's a mix between a coming of age love story and a horror flick - interesting, calm and thoughtful. Among the pile of shitty vampire movies...which is a huge pile...this one really stands out for me.

I read Let the right one in, not a bad book haven't haven't seen the movie.

I personally am a bit freaked out by all this horrible Diluted vampire stuff at the moment a bit the same way that all Anne Rice's Vampire's seem to be gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I dont want my Vampires to SpArKle in sunlight, I want the to burn and melt into a rancid pulsating screaming mess of puss, bile, bone and hair.

If keeds want to read vampire stories cool they can have Count Duckular.

Whats wrong with Daywalkers? No i am not talking about vampires that sparkle in the sunlight. I am talking about vampires that are still bad, that still drink blood, still do the normal vampire things but they can walk in the sunlight

 

Anne Rices Vampires are Bi-Sexual, nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

 

How about the Vampire Diaries, good books nothing like Twilight and it came out alot earlier

Anyway i am aiming to be a writer and my vampires just b/c they walk around in the sun doesn't mean that they aren't weakened by it but they are still vampires, they drink blood, they sometimes run wild but b/c of the current society they have to keep things under control.

 

Anyway how i came up with mine they are pretty unique, not the traditional vampire anyway

Personally, I was thinking of going in the opposite direction. That is, to have the vampires not as powerful, sexual creatures but as rather pathetic dead folk who are driven to rise and drink the blood of the living. Wraith-like, they are rarely seen about their business and can only be despatched in their graves.

My focus is on the vampire hunters and their motivations: Are they religious zealots? Are they confidence tricksters? Are they earnest in their quest? What is in it for them?

I'm also considering making it a historical novel, rather than set it in the present day: either a gothic novel (a la the Hammer films) or in the Middle Ages.

Talking Hammer Films, I watched Captain Kronos the other day. That had vampires that could walk in daylight.

All Hammer vamps walked in the daylight, the cheapskates just stuck something over the lense to make day look slighlty duller and passed it off as night!

 

My vampires don't even have fangs, I filed them down when they was naughty and put them back under the bed :confused:

TC, other good books besides Twilight are the Vampire Diaries, they are older books but they seem to be better books then Twilight books are and its a popular series right now.

 

As for Vampires everyone has their own idea's its called being creative, alot of people copy others idea's and change them a little to make them their own but i think people should use original idea's
