OK this is the 3rd time i have tried to post this ( didnt know any maintenance was going on last nite ( so what i had hoped was a glich due to having to reset my psswd ( my message didnt post)

Im going to try to keep this short( but fact is it isnt very short at all)... OK i was 13 or 14 when my dad handed me the second necroscope book..He lost the first one and the 3rd hadnt come out yet..

So iread it i was hooked..he came in not too much longer, had replaced the 1st book and also had the 3rd one..

I have been an avid follower ever since..later when i got my first job I started buying my own copies so i wouldnt have to keep trading them back and forth... as newer ones came out i would get the hardcovers...

( Mr. Lumley is not the only author I read, but as my tastes for horror and vampires has grown..you wont see Stephen King in my collection)..I may have an Anne Rice book or two, Its just Lumley I feel has it right...Vampires are not romantic( screw the whole "Twilite/underworld romantic notions) Vampires are the things Hell are made of

I have had at one time or another almost all of Lumleys works( all the necro books) my father hasnt read past the 5th book... i have the 2nd Titus crow book ( i refuse to read it cuz I dont want to ruin the ending when i get the first book) then i can read it..

I had gotten Blood Brothers, The last Aerie, blood wars in hardback... and later Invaders, Defilers and Avengers, I had found the lost years 1 1and 2 in hardback as well as dead speak and dead spawn...

Now time had passed, as i eventually even found the source and Wamphyri in hardback 9 the only one i have never owned in hard cover is the first one...so I have probably replaced books 1 - 5 at least 5 times easily( paper backs)

some one may snag one, Or a friend may have negligently lost or misplaced one) well as for my collection as i had it almost completed while moving to another town...someone broke in and stole my boxes ( my whole library gone...Gone to someones crack pipe or whatever) i didnt lose, avengers, I didnt lose Blood Wars and dead speak was still with me...

dec 1st I started looking at amazon ( i check frequently) to my amazment...I was finding necrocope hardcovers at ultra low prices...Blood Brothers for 6 dollars, The last Aerie 4 dollars..the lost years both under 10 bucks...some books listed as damaged or water damge or shelf wear...I got each book ( most of them are in near mint condition)as I would check back on them I would see prices had been changed ( I found a copy of Blood brothers for 250.00 dollars) so you could say iether who i bought it from didnt know the collectabilty or blame on a bad economy...( like a discount price and merry christmas to you)

Currently as of Dec 14th..I now have all but 2 to replace in hardback Necroscope 1 and 3 ( 1 is listed at 144.00)

I guess my point is mainly asking

"How many times have you had to replace your lumley collection?"

I look forward to reading your comments on this..cuz i want to know if its just me thats had to go and hunt them down repeatedly. i have owned them all in paper back...but to me.. a hardback will last way longer and if you keep collecting and you build your own private library its awesome to pass this on to your sons or daughters or nephews or nieces ( provided you know they like horror as much as You yourself)

Hi Alucard,

I just started here recently.

I have the first 10 in paperback, the three "E-Branch" books and "The Touch" in hardcover. Through loans, losses and my reading and re-reading, I've replaced these:

Necroscope-- 4th copy

Wamphyri! -- Re-reading now my original and the front and back covers fell off today:mad:

The Source-- 2nd copy

Deadspeak -- 2nd copy

The rest are my initial books. Worn and creased and some are yellowed.

Necroscope books are the only fiction I've read more than once.

I keep the paper backs ( sort of) I will give them to friends who havent read ( or could only read one cuz i trust no one with a hard back)

So as I replace them i can hand them to a friend to finish the story( i could hop over to hastings and trade it in for credit towards the as of yet un developed necroscope video game for my 360...( well i did mention he should do this a while back like 3 or 4 months ago)

there is no necroscope vid game ( but there should be)

Luckily I've never had to replace my collection, to be honest I couldn't afford to if anything happened to it! (Please please let nothing ever happen to it!) I have quite a few rare Lumleys but not rare Neroscopes. I don't actually have all of the Necroscope series in hardback, only 2 of the first 5 and none of the vampire world ones. I do have them all in the British and the American editions but they're all paperback.

The only one that's ever been replaced is Necroscope itself as I lent it to someone who spilt curry on it so they bought me a new copy!

i wish i had the books in hard cover, i do have a few like some of the short stories like Whisper and other voices and Beneath the Moors and other Dark Places as well as Khai of Khem now i haven't read this one but i heard its supposed to be one of the best, Demogorgan was good but it could have had a sequel

I sort of disagree with you on the Vampires are things hell are made of, everyone as their own style and when the writers write it out they all will be different...

As for whats on my shelves, Brian Lumley will always come first but i got Anne Rices complete books all of them not just her vampire books well i have all of Brian Lumleys to, I also got the Vampire Diaries they are good books, but third in order on my selves are my Star Wars books another fav of mine and then Stephen King i try to branch out alot

Anyway has anyone got Iced on Aran?
