Posted January 31, 20241 yr comment_44905 I discovered Brian's work several decades ago. I was browsing Chamblin Bookine, a giant used bookstore here in my hometown in Florida. I saw Necroscope, with that incredible Bob Eggleton cover, and I was hooked before even reading the back. I started reading that very day and that scene with Dragosani was so intense I almost put the book down. I'd never read anything like it before and it was...disturbing. But, I kept reading (I simply couldn't stop) and I'm eternally grateful I did! Necroscope spoke to me. And with each subsequent book, that connection continued to grow. I was constantly blown away by Brian's creativity, wild and wonderful mind, and the flow and rhythm of his writing. Brian is the most influential author of my own writing, which has culminated in me finally releasing my first novel at the age of 56. I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Lumley. I wish I could have, although I'd never have been able to thank him enough for the joy he brought to my life. Whenever I meet anyone who has an interest in dark fantasy, horror, or anything remotely like Necroscope, who has not read Lumley, I rave to them about how amazing it is and beg them to read it. A few have, and they love it every time! My heart broke when I heard he had left us. I will always adore his work and he will always be my greatest inspiration. Rest in Peace, dear Brian. The Great Majority will enjoy your creations forever and one day, after I cross over, I look forward to "reading" all of your new works! <3
