My house mate has gone to see Pirates tonight, did you enjoy it GG?

 

I haven't seen those films - yet! I may have seen Junk but I'm not entirely sure, deffinately haven't seen the others but I'd like to, I trust your taste in Japanese films!

Pirates was OK, but way too long... too much obvious padding. Usual giggle-worthy Depp performance but the stick insect twins (Bloom and Knightly) were as lame as ever.

 

I'll admit to nodding off a couple of times!

Has anyone seen Superman Returns yet? MSN slated it and gave it 6.5 out of 10 yet on the telly they were saying it was fantastic...don't know whether to go and see it or not...help!!

Superman... been there done that It's a beautiful special effect extravaganza.

 

Unfortunately, as with the last couple of Singer films (Xmen and Xmen 2) I didn't feel like I cared enough about the characters, at over 2 hours long, I felt I wanted to know more about how lex got out of prision, and what the hell superman was really doing - it missed a lot of explanation of what what really going on.

 

and the whole "superman saves the earth" that you got with the previous films seems to have been skirted over.

 

there is only one reason to see it. the feeling you get when you see the credits at the beginning and hear the superman theme - it was so much like being 4 all over again

 

Not a bad film, but certainly not a great film. I'll still be waiting for the next spidey installment - Raimi seems to be the only director on the block who is able to mix action with character development (Can I mention evil dead one more time?)

Sam Raimi is a God!!! I don't think I'll ever see a superhero movie that, for all the changes, stayed as closely to the characterisations and feel of the comics book as the spidey movies do.

Unfortunately I was a lot more than 4 when superman came out but I know exactly what you mean, I'll give it a go I hope Raimi gets to do the avengers movies

I'd rather Raimi does Evil Dead 4 with Bruce Campbell.

I've heard rumours, but that was a while ago - I did hear them at the same time as I heard they were remaking Evil Dead (with Raimi and Campbell producing, so it wont be that bad...). Hell who knows! I hope the rumours are true, as I am sure any normal person does

Bruce Campbell is also a god I love seeing him in films and on the TV.

Am quite normal and would love to see another pairing for Evil Dead. The movies are some of my fav's... there's nothing like having an Evil Hand! lol

How in the world can you remake the Evil Dead movies? The story is stupid. The only reason it is good is because it is so bad and cheesy. How can you remake that? But an Evil Dead 4 would be really cool.

 

And in case anyone cares, Evil Dead was filmed not too far from me.

Am debating whether my need to see Warrior King (sequel to the excellent Ong Bak) is greater than my lethargy in going to the cinema!

I know lazing int he garden sounds nice... although I like the shade, so perhspa I could watch the instant gardener in doors?

Shame my portable DVD player isn't Region 1, otherwise I'd be able to watch it in the garden (which is what I do most evenings at the moment)

Speaking of film, I did watch Evil Dead last week, I love that film Saw Batman Begins agian earlier this week - it's a film I could watch again and again... Bale is amazing at Bats, and Oldman is Gordon from Year One

I must admit I really loved batman begins, probably my favourite of the batman movies.

John, I agree it is possibly the best of the batman films... I think along with spider-man it's the best of all the super hero films

I agree. Batman Begins and Spiderman are great movies. They have renewed my faith in super hero films.
