August 20, 200124 yr comment_999 Im getting to the end of the primal lands books, i should finish "sorcery in shad" today. But one thing i cant seem to get out of my head whilst reading is the image of tarra kash being conan the barbarian. i.e. as in the films acted by arnold swartzenegger (sp?). I keep for some reason thinking that this is what a hrossak looks like. However all the pics in the hard editions show tarra as being a skinny amazon type lionclothed character. is he a tarzan or a conan? opinions please. [ 08-21-2001 07:34 PM: Message edited 1 time, lastly by Nathan ] Report
August 20, 200124 yr comment_1000 I'd say the Conan type. Given his description, way of life and the background history you pick up on him in the books, he seems a big, hardy, stocky bloke from the Steppes, rather than a streak of water in a loincloth. Personally, I wouldn't base my image of characters on how they appear in book llustrations. Take for example, Titus Crow. In all the short stories and novels, he's described as having a leonine appearance with dark hair and a beard. On the cover of the UK edition of The Compleat Crow, that's a fair impression, but on the US cover, he looks like a lanky Father Xmas. Jason Report
August 20, 200124 yr Author comment_1001 although his jeweled scimitar is a one handed weapon? whereas traditionally a barbarian muscle bound warrior is more likely to wield a huge broad sword (2 handed sword). Due to its weight and power, muscle behind the weapon. Makes me think he wasnt perhaps such a large guy. possibly more of the tarzan. im still undecided...erm. Report
