The OTHER weird Hero's ?

Featured Replies

Right I'm posting this topic for you Tops, my question to all of you is what was your favourite none Necroscope story in The Weird Hero's book and why, and is there any other Hero or short story of Brian's creation that you would like to have seen make an appearance in this book and of course why ?

I personally don't have a favourite yet as I'm new to Titus Crow, David Hero and Eldin the Wanderer but if I had to pick one it would probably be Lord of the worms with Titus Crow which I thought was fantastic.

I also can't comment on any other of Brian's works except Necroscope as I have never read anything else of his redface.gif although after sampling the delights of Misters Crow, Hero and Eldin I am going to make more of effort in future. :D

HH,

Gald you're getting into the other stuff, it really is worth it.

My favourite from that collection??? Well, it's gotta be Lord of the Worms, it's such a good story, and in a lot of ways is probably the nearest in tone to Lovecraft and CA Smith that I have read.

Another story that should have made it??? Well if it was about weird heroes (it was, it was), it would have been nice to have seen on of the Tarra Khash stories in there, I really like the Curse of the Scarlet Scorpion (can be found in The complete Khash Volume 1: Never a backward Glance, and I really expensive paperback I can't remember the name of)...

other stories that might have been good, or are worth the read??? (apart from all of them ofcourse)... if you haven't read Return of the Deeps Ones, it's a cracking read, and is in:

Return of the Deep Ones and Other Mythos Tales (UK PB, OOP)

The Whisperer and OTher Voices (US PB and HC)

Hope this helps,

TOps

"Weird Wines" was very cool I thought. Just classic Hero and Eldin tomfoolery ... entertaining as always. Never a dull moment.

As for others I wish'd've made the cut...?

I'm with Tops. The Tarra Khash stories are great. I'd be hardpressed to choose only one though. They're really good to read as two novels back-to-back.

Really enjoyed "Weird Wines". I held me through my lunch break (only time I have a moment to read) and made me late getting back, but oddly enough, I wasn't too thirsty. ;)

However, "Lord of the Worms" has made me want to read my Titus Crow books over again. I didn't realize it had been so long - about 4 years ago was when I last read them.
