Holy cow! This topic should've been closed already!

This will be the new and obligatory "what are you reading now or lately?" thread.

At the behest of a good friend I am reading Through the Looking Glass and Alice in Wonderland. Not too far yet... we'll see.

heehee, yet another author i've hooked him on, the books are very very good and quite different to the films. Nearly bought the loop in german and translated it myself with a little german-english dictionary i got for GCSE! Must be patient...

I might be royaly chastised for this but I just started Ship of Dreams. I had read Hero a few years back but havn't continued until now. I'll take it to the end this time though.

Finished the Davinci Code ... readable, interesting ideas but terrible writing .....

Just finished Murakamis latest 'Kafka on the Shore' - great author, great book ....

About to start 'Saturday' by Ian McEwan

i just finished angels and demons, a couple of forgotten realms, the beatles anthology, and the manual for my digital camera. haven't been to the bookstore yet, so have nothing new to read. i'll make the trek on friday.

Due to a degree course I started last year, for the past twelve months I have been reading loads of political and historical books :(

It looks like I may be changing jobs soon, so the degree course will have to be put on hold, which means...a bit more time to re-read some of Brians works and I might even be able to finish reading some of my Jack Vance books. grin.gif

Finished the latest Ian McEwan book Saturday - a great novelist who always gets under my skin.

Enjoying the Japanese translations myself at the minute -Murakami especially. Just got a paperback of Ring that both Red and GG have mentioned, but I've just picked up Strangers by Taichi Yamada that I've heard good things about....

Just finished reading some Lovecraft, now reading A Coven of Vampires.

Joanne says The Jester is a good book by James Patterson but The Lakehouse is much better, she recommends Third Degree if you like James Patterson.

(I'm in the process of convincing her to get in here herself so I won't have to relay messages anymore!)

now i though Jester was better, could it be the difference between a man and women point of view, as i read lake house i kept thinking that this is something my wife would like.

they were the only two JP books i've read, one right after the other and i almost felt like they were written by two difference writers, lake house more romanic, jester more action/adventure.

Finished Strangers, which was an excellent ghost story ...eerie and sad. Much in keeping with other Japanese stories I've read...

I've picked up Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke ...a meaty tomb of a read, set around York.
