Dude! I wadn't sweatin' anyone... It was way past time for a new topic. I just noticed that both these games' thread titles stated the year!
We can't play in an outdated thread, my friend, no, no, no!
January 21st, 2005, 04:49 PM
by BOTH these games N8 is referring to Lumlian knowledge n Necroknowledge, maybe you can give some of those Q a try
i'll be back
January 21st, 2005, 04:56 PM
Thanks for clarifying... I forget how complicated the board seems when you first see it. And that not everyone know WTF I'm talking about! grin.gif
I do appreciate you guys keepin' this game going and having fun doing it. It's kinda funny to watch sometimes because someone'll ask a stumper question that could easily be looked up in the old trivia threads! There's like ten of 'em back there in the attic somewhere. smile.gif
January 21st, 2005, 08:18 PM
So since you're officially shutting down the other thread does that mean it's gone, or are we continuing it here? I hope we're continuing as in the event that I ever get the chance I've got a good question(hehe, got smart and am making a list as I go through the books)SD if it's your go GIVE A QUESTION, would ya?
January 21st, 2005, 09:21 PM

Agursky was vamperized when he touched the vampire egg but the thing was locked up in a glass tank.

HE HELP HARRY RIDE HIS HARLEY TO STARSIDE
January 25th, 2005, 05:51 PM
Unfair, I forgot his name was Pete because my name is Pete, isn't it obvious.
I'm appealing to Hubris that I should win that one as my answer was so laced with detail even though I didn't get his real name.
I know begging and pleading is un sightly but hey I like winning ;)

Although I may hold a grudge and knowbody likes grudges do they, just ask Sarah Michelle Geller...
January 25th, 2005, 06:25 PM
Well it looks like I have a hell'o decision on my hands. I hate to bring begrudging down on myself, but you got it sdkdmd! Sorry Helm, I know you had a lot of input on that one but I was looking for Pete.

January 26th, 2005, 01:55 AM
KeananGormley. In reference to Dragosani and his necromantic abilities, and the subsequent LACK of similarity between them, as Harry in his innosencse sees them as being related.

January 26th, 2005, 10:50 AM
Yay! I've been waiting and have had my question all wonderfully prepared for a while now. Just so you know, Sd, I'm sure that was meant to be something of a stumper, and it likely would have been except for the fact that I had just finished my re-read of Necroscope yesterday afternoon. So here goes my question.
After Ustinov's betrayal Borowitz is to present his case to a five judge panel, who were the judges on that panel?
To clear up any confusions that may arrive amongst you all I'm looking for the names AND positions (as both are clearly stated in the book).
January 26th, 2005, 02:26 PM
georg krisich : party central commitee
oliver bellekhoyza, karl dyannov :junior cabinet ministers
yuri andropov K.G.B
and leonid brezhenevs personal representitive ,a namless cipher
not sure if the last 1 is right as you were looking for 5 names also ? ..not sure if the ciphers name was mentioned anywhere else in the book as i couldnt be arsed to look ha haaaaaa
p.s ive jus this second come in here to check if my answer is worthy ,if it is and its my turn please dont think im ignoring any1 coz im on my way to being entoxicated ......or in the words of my fathers .....pissed outta my skull

January 27th, 2005, 08:25 PM
I don't think that one has, at least not in that particular wording...
Anyway, sh*t, now I gotta come up with a question... let's see... how 'bout one combining both Lumlian and Necroscope Knowledge...?
There's a young man in Return of the Deep Ones who does odd jobs around the place for the narrator. He ends up quite dead. His name is the same as one of Harry's best friends.
This is one I've asked before so Tops is ejected from the game for this question! grin.gif

February 5th, 2005, 07:37 PM
What event marked the rising of Lord Nestor's necromantic abilities?
February 7th, 2005, 04:37 PM
Hmmmmm........ let me see..........
That would be when he laid his hand upon the vampire thrall "Carmen's" forehead and said "Farewell".
She then replied to him that there would be no goodbye but that she would RISE.
February 7th, 2005, 07:54 PM
Very well Canker, you may now have your go at asking a question.

February 11th, 2005, 01:28 AM
Okay: Lost years is copyrighted '95. First printing in November(with the first mass market edition being in July or'96). Resurgance is copyrighted '96 . First printing in November(with the first mass market edition being in July of '97)
I hope this is what your looking for.
February 11th, 2005, 11:06 AM
You can find the info on the site. I was looking for a specific time in the masters life when he wrote the books.
February 11th, 2005, 03:01 PM
Necroscope: the Lost Years, in two volumes, took two years and two months to write. (Jan. '94-March '96.
and was written partly to the fact that a lot of eagle eyed fans had noticed a gap in the chronology between WAMPHYRI! and SOURCE ,where harry was concerned

February 12th, 2005, 11:59 PM
Well, it depends he first heard it from Keenan Gormly during a word association game. However in "writing" he came across it first in a precognative vision.
February 13th, 2005, 01:19 PM
either answer was good enough.
i didn't think anyone would come up with the word game. nice job
i wasn't even sure if anyone would remember that the next time was in a vision.
February 15th, 2005, 01:23 AM
So I suprirsed you. Fun. I only just re-read it under a month ago so it's still fresh in my mind. Plus I think I just pick up on odd deatils sometimes when I read.
While I'm sure my question is gonig to be insanely easy, I can't resist answering when I know what the answer is. I've only just began re-reading and it got put on hold for school. So pardon the fact that I'm bubling about but well: I am trying. So my question.
"That crazy man. He tried to fill me full of lead! Hah! Me, a heap of bones. And so I-"
"You filled him with silver."

February 23rd, 2005, 02:40 AM
No, Skints it's not in Deadspeak, Sorry. I don't know why it'd be making people blush though! I'll give it another day or two before I go telling which book it's out of. I must admit however I thought it would be easy as I'm just kind of opening a book and looking for something that would be a suitable obscure detail. But, if I land with another quesiton Skints, I'll be sure to ask out of books you're read, to give you an equal shot at getting one.

hi there everyone. i've just registered to this site after alot of hassle! i've been reading brian's books for years & think he's the best thing since sliced bread. i must have read every necroscope book at least 20 times. i hope to god they don't make a film as they will just make a mess of it. important things will be missed where as pointless bits will be highlighted. as it is in a word of mouth situation.
February 24th, 2005, 06:43 PM

Welcome to the best web site there is Anne. Thank God i'm not the only Lumlian in Bonny Scotland,
Welcome on board and happy surfing
February 25th, 2005, 01:38 AM
Skint's you're fine, honest! Do you realize that the whole reason I read Necroscope was because of two scenes in the opening of the first book. The one with Boris ripping that body to shreds and Harry spying on his teachers. That's all it took for me to decide to go on and of course I found it wonderful...
And even though this isn't the right place to do it, yes Anne welcome among us. You should go to the gate then you'll get a proper welcoming from everyone, or not everyone but more than you'll get in here. Techincally speaking, when we don't go off on side tangent converstaions, this is more or less necroscope trivia. And anyone who knows the anwer is welcome to give answering a go. And yes, have fun.
February 25th, 2005, 01:43 AM
that would be his name skinters
February 25th, 2005, 02:23 PM
when reading the source, i noticed that brian had used a certain phrase 3 times, and to me it stuck out a mile, and i had to double check past pages that i had read to make sure that the phrase was indeed used to describe certain acts in the book.
a clue to the answer can be found with 1 of brians hobbies, and think the phrase was inspired by it.......what was the phrase ?
me and the wife are out for a few drinks tonight so ill stumble back in have a quick look in here and if theres no answer ill give out an easy clue so whoever reads the clue first gets it ....well thas the type of guy i am grin.gif

February 27th, 2005, 07:44 PM
ok dont know how many have had a crack at my question but as promised heres the easy clue if you have source check pages 20 , 85 for the answer ....was thinking my question was a lil on the silly side but when you find the answer check out the about page on this site to do with brians hobbies and youll realise what i was trying to do ........and how in fact this question i soooo bloody brilliant ha haaaaaaa ...........well i thought so grin.gif
February 27th, 2005, 07:47 PM
by the way i did say the phrase was used 3 times and i know it is 3 jus couldnt find it somewhere at the end of source .......promise ;)
ok found the third time the phrase was used so its on page 20, 85, 332..........now this is way 2 easy ;)
i didnt intend for this question to be an awkward stumper jus someting ive i wondered did any1 else notice it while reading source

thank you thank you thank you
i thought my question was gonna be dragged into starside and left for tha trogs to p**s on
i know now that i was a bit ambitious with the original question and wish i had put it another way, coz i think its a lil intresting how brian used the phrase , and was surelly inspired by his hobby of spear fishing, and found it unusuall it being used as frequent as it was ....also finding it intresting that he chose greece to introduce jianni lazarides AKA janos ferenczy as its more or less his second home .
anyways DC on to you fella ;) ya deserve ya Newcastle Brown Ale

March 2nd, 2005, 03:40 PM
The correct answer is a locket with a lock of pubic hair.
I am going to let Jade Rose have the question as her answer was close enough.
March 3rd, 2005, 02:16 AM
Janos Ferenczy's wish is to rise up from the ashes of his undeath and be living again. What are the characteristics that must be met of a being in order that he may again have possession of life(or rather undeath as it were in his case)?
March 3rd, 2005, 03:35 PM
I'm not sure I understand your question Jade???
Do you mean that the person he has to inhabit has to be blood of his blood and that he would no that they were flesh of his flesh by the obvious mutation in his hands???
And that he would have to lure them into a trap which would trigger the ashes in his urn through blood, to form back into the leach and enter his victim???
And that his victim was George Vulupe a decendent of Janos

thas what i was thinking when i first saw the question .....but think knowing jade she has something more devious in mind ;)
March 3rd, 2005, 10:04 PM
Now, I thought it was a good question. Am I really that BAD with my question's Skints. Honestly, I'm trying to give out good questions, and sometimes I think it's stuff that's absolutely basic yet you all complain. As to a devious mind, I have two younger brothers and for years was the only girl in a group of guys. I had to learn to defend myself somehow... and what's wrong with having a good mind anyway! I'm kind of a writer so I'm laying the blame down there. Ha!
And yes Helm, you've got it. You gave more than I asked for even! I wasn't looking for the leech resurection, though I guess that's what it was. AHH... MUST reread soon(as soon as I finish thesis reading that is!) and that it was Vulpe. I searched over the book trying to find him. Grr. So, since you got the hand disfiguration and the descendent and that his blood was needed and that's what I was looking for, you've got it. Hey, with bonus points!
March 3rd, 2005, 10:26 PM
naaaa wot makes you think i was implying your question was bad , ;)no1 complaining here ,look at the confusion my last question created and it is indeed hard to find a good 1 for me i was jus thinking along the same lines as helm, not the not understanding the question part just the answer he gave . but at the same time thought it cant be that ..coz the funny thing is ive only jus read that part of janos coming alive again or as you put undead grin.gif

Ahhh, okay. It's actually been awhile since I've read the books. I read Necrosocpe not to long ago but then we got this confounded stupid senior thesis bullcrap that's so seriously kicking my butt right now. Of course I can't resist my computer when my brother steals my room so thusly I end up in his room which has the computer and I get distracted... like now. And okay, if you say my questions aren't bad. As to your last one, it would have been okay if your hint helped me. BUT there was NOTHING the same between those two pages, so I figure you must not be using Tor books like I am...
March 4th, 2005, 11:15 AM
well considering you aint read the books for so long you have a sharp memory there ;) ,and as for my question having nothing the same between the clues of the pages i gave ,if you have a copy of source you will see there is a certain phrase used ,which was "flopped about like a speared fish" albiet it wasnt used word for word each time and was answered by DC ,which you can find on pages 20, 85, and 332 ;)
The reason why that un stood out as a question from me is that it ties in with brians hobby of spear fishing which can be found on the about page on the site, and think he quite like the phrase
as for not using Tor books . do you refer to the publisher tom doherty ,who did the U.S versions ;) and if the phrase "flopped like a speared fish was left out or replaced, thas quite interesting
yo jade that confounded bullshit thesis your on ,they do say a change is as good as a rest dont let em get the better of you ;) grin.gif .....peace

I couldn't find anything about that on pgs.20, 85, & 332 of the US novels.
March 4th, 2005, 01:35 PM
ok TOR published the U.S necros and i was enlightened by what jade said
and as DC is from the uk and i presume he has the uk version , i find it intresting the wording has been changed ,and if that is indeed the case why do us brits get fish flopping and you U.S guys dont grin.gif
source uk version on page 20 it says : simonov tried to bring his gun to bear .Useless-there was no feeling in his hand ,which (flopped like a speared fish )
page 85 : The left side of the soldiers head was caved in and the hooks of the gauntlet caught in the broken bones of his skull. The intruder held him upright for a moment,(flopping uselessley like a speared fish )
page 332 : The finial was the eyetooth of the creature whose massive jaw formed the throne;it entered the traitors mouth and came out at the top of his skull,so that he kneeled there and (flopped about like a speared fish.)
so where the above phrases begin and end instead of getting speared like a flopped fish ,what are you U.S guys getting, ? jus a full stop and on to the next paragraph ?
anyways as a certain mr holmes would say its elementary my dear watson....or maybe not ;)
on to you helm

gasbeast were used to heat the aeries by producing mathane.
they were also used as bombs.
a second type of gas or heating system??
i do not remember

Well you may only have half a point.
Maybe someone else knows the full answer as explained by a Greek beauty to her future husband.

when you say the source of the gas do you mean how the gas is produced ....like cattle produce methane granted so ill go with :
coarse grasses , and grain, with which the gas beasts fed upon

methane by way of gas beast

Right I'm really starting to run out of ideas as far as questions go so from now on I'm only going to be asking cryptic questions.
Hopefully they will make sense and be pretty easy to get...
Q: Who got to the other side of a mirror and found a way home???
March 13th, 2005, 04:09 PM
Think outside the box here people....
March 13th, 2005, 05:54 PM
Only thing that comes to mind is Harry & the others who went through the grey hole and came back again...
March 14th, 2005, 02:00 PM
March 14th, 2005, 04:45 PM
Very funny DC...
I think I'm just confusing people here, your not meant to take the question in the literal sense. It's not the way the questions phrased thats the important part, the clue to the question is in there but u should break it up.
Who got to the other side of a mirror...(a person doesn't have to walk through a mirror to get to the other side, if one side of the mirror is the front whats on the other side???...) and found a way home??? (a clue perhaps???...)
March 14th, 2005, 06:04 PM
is it one of those two way mirror?
March 14th, 2005, 07:16 PM
Hmm.. I'm sure this isn't right and that I'm looking at this the wrong way here, but I'll throw it out there on the off chance. Would it have been Anna Marie English who found a home in starside's earth, which is kind of a mirror to ours via the lake and the gate? I don't know... this whole thinking outside the box thing isn't working well for me...
March 14th, 2005, 08:27 PM
Only thing that comes to mind(and even that is shady) is Harry after catching an image of a mirror in a precog glimpse. And inverting his mobius door to absord a bomb blast.
March 14th, 2005, 08:40 PM
ok im going for mobius himself coz hes always out there buzzing around the planets and maybe he got lost
ok ok i know .....not the most popular of answers

March 15th, 2005, 04:50 PM
Right it seems I'm just confusing people here, so I'll try and make it super simple.
The other side of a mirror (if the front is one side then the other is surely the back)
So somebody has found/seen/been given or BEEN SAVED by a mirror and on the back is a clue/pointer as to how he/she/them/anybody might possibbly get home (maybe it's a train ticket you just never know???) grin.gif
March 15th, 2005, 10:33 PM
Okay, I don't remember this. Going to thusly assume then it comes from the Lost years, which I didn't read as they were the last things I got and uninteresting to me out of sequence as they were. So I'm blindly stabbing and saying Harry Keogh?
March 16th, 2005, 01:45 PM
Little Clue here for you Jade, in relative terms of space and time I'm on about the book that proceeds the final Lost Years book, but only if you go along with the time line!!! ;)
March 16th, 2005, 02:08 PM
i jus need to read

I think you'll find skinters my old mate that in the time line you have already passed and read this particular book.
The Lost Years is set in between Wamphyri and the SOURCE!!!! wink wink nudge nudge say no more ;)
March 16th, 2005, 04:19 PM
March 16th, 2005, 04:38 PM
of course like you say if the timeline was followed then the answer would be in invaders...? but only if you follow the timeline.
and as you highlighted source ,my single brain cell says the answer is there
am i digging a bigger hole for my self coz youve given us everything bar the actual answer which by the way needs stamping on my head the way things are going grin.gif ...hubris looks a good un harry jr

is it Harry jr .........the suspense is killing me, hope it lasts
March 16th, 2005, 09:33 PM
Helm, your hint in NO way helps me. Major Problem being: Amy didn't read the books in order, but rather started at the beginning and ended at the end and read everything else as I came across them in as close to order as I could get to. Timeline and Lumley haven't yet come together. I'm going to read them in order when I get around to re-reading them(which could be awhile.) But I thank you for the trying and it seems that the others have figured it out.

There were three beings that assured Keogh's departure from Earth, what were their names?
March 24th, 2005, 01:00 AM
Ok, either this is too cryptic or no one's paying attention. I vote for the former, but who knows. Tell me if you need a clue.
March 24th, 2005, 01:14 AM
nightshade, rest easy ....those in the know will notice your question and if not soon will ;)
March 24th, 2005, 07:42 AM
Pete The Vampire who rode him screaming into Starside on a Harley
Zek who gave him shelter before he made his dash
Ben Trask who still had enough beleif in Harry to let him go
That's the only answer I can come up with...
March 24th, 2005, 07:24 PM
Ok, this is definately too cryptic.
And I can't even think of a hint that doesn't give it away too easy.
Hint: The existance of these three beings was enough to create the need for him to leave.

March 24th, 2005, 08:34 PM

Hubris, since you're the closest (Paddy is the dog's name) you got it.
I know, it was a crappy question. Sorry 'bout that. First try and everything.
March 25th, 2005, 01:21 PM
No, it was a good question. Just these cryptic ones are exactly that...cryptic.
Ok, what Szgany woman could heal with her touch?
March 25th, 2005, 01:40 PM
the only 1 that comes to mind but not sure if she was a healer
March 25th, 2005, 04:23 PM
The one that comes to mind was Lord Malinari's (spelling) mother.
She was a healer that could cure with her touch but when she was made a Lady her touch worked in reverse and drained her victims the same way.
Hence Malinari's ability to suck information from someone by touching them

March 28th, 2005, 07:08 PM
shaithis had once been a common traveller.
who vampirized him ?
March 29th, 2005, 11:03 AM
Woe woe woe I'll think you'll find that although it seemed like it was Yulian Bodescu who said that, I'm almost certain that it was in fact Thibor through Yulian...
I'm probably just being contensious and argumentative with this one as I'd have to go home and look up the answer for the other question and I'm in work so can't.
It's probably one of them kinda things in the books thats up for your own interpratation and we would probably have to ask Brian what the true answer is.

yeah see where your at there helm .At that part of the book it isnt mentioned by brian that it is thibor working through yulian at the christening.
my own thoughts are that every vampire has whithin him remanants of the one he was infected by and yulians vampire which being a faint part of thibor was acting on instinct, and hence the PUT NO CROSS ON ME YOU TREACHEROUS CHRISTIAN DOG .......yes open to interpretation i suppose ;)
by the way helm are you sure your not WAMPHYRI! ,as they to seem to be arguementative ha haaaaaaa ,see what sd makes of it after reading our posts .
anyways its your turn ....it was indeed shaidar shaigispawn who infected shiathis......or was it grin.gif

It's just that number 1 Yulian is a baby and can't talk...
2 although he is infected with vampyrism from before his birth he in no way is Wamphyri then and doesn't blosom in to his true self until much later in life...
And finally 3 "PUT NO CROSS ON ME YOU TREACHEROUS CHRISTIAN DOG" doesn't sound like something a mere infant would say (no matter how evil) and sounds more like something somebody from a much earlier era would say, an ex warlord perhaps...
No matter it don't really matter I just like to argue these little things between us as I like it grin.gif
I shall return with a question in due course...
March 29th, 2005, 02:47 PM
you like to argue ?..aye then you ARE WAMPYHRI! grin.gif
your right yulian was a baby and couldnt talk, maybe he would have uttered the words himself if he could ,and maybe his telapathy was at work ?
and yes "PUT NO CROSS ON ME YOU TREACHEROUS CHRISTIAN DOG might have indeed past the lips of thibor in his time.
as you say no matter, let us put our differences to one side and help me enjoy the blood of this plump traveller grin.gif
(p.s another WAMPHYRI! trait is to always have the last word )

no one actually said it, it was all in the vicars mind, the statment, the hallucination, if thats what you want to call it.[ horns coming out of the babies head, jaw elongated, viper's tongue]. it started when the vicar put the holy water on his head and then the sign of the cross.
it very well could have been Thibor speaking through the baby, but it does'nt say that it was.
the end result, he was never truly christened.
It's just that number 1 Yulian is a baby and can't talk
so the baby never really spoke
2 although he is infected with vampyrism from before his birth he in no way is Wamphyri then and doesn't blosom in to his true self until much later in life...
i think the vamphyri was developed enough to have some control [nine + months]
And finally 3 "PUT NO CROSS ON ME YOU TREACHEROUS CHRISTIAN DOG" doesn't sound like something a mere infant would say (no matter how evil) and sounds more like something somebody from a much earlier era would say, an ex warlord perhaps...
it wasn't the mere infant who said it,it was the vamphryi, if not tribor himself
but who knows, Brian knows

Who was the LAST of the Ferenczy's????
(Sneakily grins as writing this ;) ) Yulian never had a leach back then so it couldn't of been the influence of his vampyric talents and I stand firm by the fact that I think it must of been Thibor through the infant, after all he was to be his vessel once he could lure the wayward scamp back to the cruciform hills... grin.gif
